Title: Do newbies buy BitcoinTalk member accounts?
Post by: FowardtoVictory on March 23, 2016, 08:20:38 PM
Just wondering. I'm trying to sell four member accounts for just 0.0120 = $5. I need them sold ASAP. Maybe somebody with patience to mold them into hero can have them but I can't afford to keep them.

You can put them for sale here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=93.0
I think if you just don't ask too much for them someone will buy them.

Its rare that people do not buy a account to for nefarious reasons and the ones with legit reasons usually make sure everyone understands why they are buying a account in public. Once you start to recognize accounts or follow default loans you start to sniff out people that will even come in here and say how bad account selling/buying is when the account they are posting with was a gain through defaulted loans or other
more criminal aspects.
New accounts can hit signature requirements soon enough that they really do not need to buy accounts.

People buy them with different reasons most will use it for signature campaigns or scamming people. Personally should I never buy a account. I don't need more then one account on this forum.

Some do but theres multiple reasons for someone to go buy it.

I personally think that if you are buying accounts youre only hurting the community.

Just post them for sale and see if anyone wants them.  My guess is that there isn't a big market out there to buy accounts.  It's not that hard to get an account to member level anyway.

There is no real reason to trade member accounts, you should only need one. I can understand wanting to get the jump on some signature campaigns, but it is too vulnerable to scammers who can run off with lots of bitcoin based on that small reputation for sale. If you do want to sell them though, the Market Place will draw the most interest

you should sell them in goods section or auction section, there will surely be people who want to grab it

We can touch on the obvious negative aspects but I can see someone starting a bitcoin related company wanting a account that is established, for advertising or promoting.
What you notice in some forums are multiple new accounts being used say investor based forum. In meta you will see more alt accounts that are established to drive home a point or issue. So different places in this forum for multiple reasons have reasons for say buying a account or just using a new alt account.

4 Member account! :O

They have some potential?
Pending Loan? Ban history? Signed message?

Sometimes you need to describe completely an account... like post quality?
Local board?

This is bad practice of buying accounts that may be hacked or stolen. You can get red trust from older members
if they find out which are those accounts.
This is best if your doing through escrow but good escrow will never be involved in such deals..

If you buy the account and are open about it you will not receive negative ratings. Its more attempting to do it behind the scenes that makes the optics of scammer more a issue. Say I buy a account for promoting a site I created and let people know it should not be a issue as long as there is no trust to go along with the account and its noted the account was bought.

Buying accounts is dangerous stuff as the seller could lie and give you a account with -999 trust and 1 letter posts. I don't see a point in selling accounts unless you truly quit this forum, and even then I wouldn't as it'd take a few months to get to certain ranks. Profit is nearly guaranteed on most accounts because campaigns pay big moolah for member accounts and up for posting. Great for investing, but of course if the posting style of an account changes noticeably or resembles another account the sold account could be given negative trust for being sold. Shady stuff, avoid if possible.

A lot of newbies dont want to wait the weeks it takes to build up their accounts, so that they can start making money off of a signature campaign fast, so yes.

Put some time in this forum and you don't need to buy an account of someone else. Most of time they don't use bought account for good things. I really think since they aloud account selling on this forum they attract scammers more.

An average full member account gives you at least 400k satoshi in a day. So if a newbies can participate well enough to earn 400k why not?..

And everything is about signature campaigns, people buying accounts so they can join signature campaigns..
But this is still better than scamming people with false crowdfunded projects. ::)

I do not want to buy an account. I will just wait for the right moment to join in signature campaigns.

It will take you 6 weeks (14 activity every 2 weeks if I remember correctly) to get junior member, 8 weeks to become member, 18 weeks to become full member...
Many sig campaigns are allowed for full member+ so the question is if it is better to buy (how much?) a btc account, and make some money in this 18 weeks, or wait and post all the time.

If there is a place for you in campaign and btc account' price is not that high, it is better just to invest and get ROI in few weeks :)
AND if you are able to post some valuable posts, not just spamming.

Otherwise, wait for it, maybe it is better to gain some experience about this forum before making profit :)

I have to ask what you did with them.  It seems odd that you can not afford to keep them when they are not costing you nothing in maintenance?!  There are many people who would buy accounts, but a Member account is not that high of a demand.  You can create one in just under 2 months for free.

I think people that don't know English very well would buy senior accounts.

Probably a vast minority buys them for signature campaigns. The others are up to no good, but as far as I can see, are quickly given negative trust by seasoned members.

I have seen a lot of newbies buying higher rank accounts here. There's even a step-by-step tutorial somewhere in this forum on how to do it properly.
Apparently, the phrases 'money talks' is highly applicable because, if you could easily earn money in a short time, well why not?

I do admit that I would've bought that account since that $5 can be reclaimed in around 1-2 weeks. However I'm just too poor that's why I have no choice to start from the bottom and hey! I don't actually feel bad about it.

I notice a trend in lending where people offer low loans knowing the person will most likely walk and this is how you collect cheap accounts to flip or scam with.
Seems to be the trend at least.

I've sold an account last year. It had big potential rank.
I don't know how many hands did it change, but now I've seen it around very often. It's in a signature campaign, it's already Hero and it seems to have pretty good quality posts. So it's not always about scams...Some just make a good business from it.

what you are saying is true, it is upto the users who buy and utilize it , we cannot judge everyone to be scammers , their are users who buy high rank account and utilize it properly.

I've seen newbies that have enough money to buy a potential member account looking for one. Maybe because they are here for the signature campaign. They can get their money back in 2 weeks though if they join a signature campaign especially in YoBit. :)
