I bet these are to some extent water resistant than simple paper wallet?
I am reserving here for getting one of these. :D

But it would be better if there comes an option where I can send a BIP-38 encrypted private key prior in placing an order so that the desired key can be embedded on demand. This is better for those notes with high face value (say 1 or 2 BTC) for better security.

I'll buy one as well.

When are you planning to take orders?

Would you be willing to sell just the empty notes?
Without any coins?

So that, I'll be able to load them upon receipt?

Thanks

I do not know that information at this time. Hopefully soon.
I will update OP as I receive any news!! :D

Hello minerjones! Thank you for getting the word out.

Cryptohead, we are considering to do so because of popular vote from the reddit r/btc and r/bitcoin community.

If we do create these, eventually there will be two series; one sold as DIY and one sold by reputable and trusted sellers such as MinerJones!

These look really good.
What's the estimated price of single, unloaded banknote?

What does 'removable QR' (as shown on website, 'in depth')? Are QR codes replaceable rather than imprinted?

Thank you! We put a lot of work into designing it.

We expect them to retail via our partners (such as minerjones) on high fee sites like eBay for $7.

Do note, we hope to lower that price by working with our printer and our sticker manufacturer to get a better price per unit on future runs.

Removable QR:

Good question, we put up the concept and didn't specify how it would work.

Now that we know that they will be sold to the public without QR's, circumstances have changed.

Most likely, we will supply two removable stickers along with the note and its tamper evident sticker.

You will be able to use a printer to create the two stickers at home.

One removable sticker (with the private QR) gets stuck to the actual note. The other public QR on top of the tamper evident sticker.

As this is a very small run for this banknote printer, our 1000 notes are low priority.

We asked what time frame we could expect, I'd say if all goes smoothly, we could expect Q4 2016. If not, Early Q2 2017.

We will keep you updated.

I think it is an interesting product, and if made well then do I believe that there is a market.
Consider the option to store the private key BIP38 encrypted, where the buyer will provide you with the encrypted key.

Update:

So we can confirm that the notes will be printed by November 2016 the latest!

This means we should be able to deliver them to your mailbox this very year, unlike the late Q1 2017 Projection we had.

Behind the scenes we're running around trying to get the packaging and instruction sheet designed and printed- still, we'll keep you updated.

Are these pre-printed with a generic Wallet Address and or pre-loaded with funds, or would the purchaser have to print and or load with funds themselves?

What would stop someone loading up a 1/10th BTC wallet address with more than the amount stated?

Also, how unique are the tamper-proof stickers?  Why I ask someone could purchase their own tamper-proof stickers and reapply over the secret key part of the note.

Hello!

So we are waiting patiently for the notes. I'm a bit annoyed as they are already one weeks behind schedule but I've let the company know that we want them asap.

They replied saying they will print tomorrow, so we will see. This is exactly why I'm glad I insisted that we would not offer pre orders.

Expect an update tomorrow evening.

Hi!

So basically this first series is being sold as a 'concept'. That is to say that we ship them without Bitcoin and you are free to upload BTC at home at your own risk. This is due to advice from the Bitcoin community.

Furthermore, we do not recommend that you accept or attempt to trade these notes. This version is meant to be a cool gift to friends or family, not a currency just yet.

We hope to fix that in later versions when we can offer a secure document.

We should never be able to access your Bitcoin. The only way we would offer them preloaded is if we work with a reputable security documents firm.

As for as the tamper evident sticker goes, we tried our best to reduce the chance of people replicating them by printing a custom serial that corresponds to the note on every sticker.

But as we can't guarantee that someone will not be able to eventually replicate them, we simply made this series a cold storage concept.

I am already in talks with real banknote and security design firms that could offer us custom tamper evident stickers.

Thank you! So, Minerjones will act as my US/Canada distributor and will sell them on my behalf for 6.99 USD.

As this is a concept/ first prototype, this note basically has a DYI Qr you make at home. You put the Private QR under the tamper evident sticker and glue the public one on top.

We are working to improve this by eventually offering a kit for it. Still working on figuring how to do that. Baby steps :)

6.99 is the MSRP of the physical product. That is to say, packaged and tamper evident sticker included.

But to minimise the cost of shipping, the notes are being shipped internally in the US, UK and Europe.

So no international shipping cost.

Thanks for the update. Few quick ones:

1- How do you intend to distribute in the UK/continental Europe, will those be available directly from your website? If so, will you be accepting bitcoin payments?

2- Is the initial run (of 1000?) a limited edition, meaning there will only ever be 1000 notes of this particular design?

3- Is it possible to reserve a specific serial number (for an extra charge maybe)?

4- What are the exact dimensions of the notes (can't find that info on your site)?

1) I have a distributor for Europe, we will also be selling to users in the UK and Europe on our website. We have plans to accept Bitcoin, but only on our wesbite.

2) Yep, the idea to keep this limited for the first series. 1000 pcs of each. Then we will improve on the concept and see if we need to make more.

3) We didn't think about implementing that, we will see. Probably a good idea finacially. But I would prefer to surprise

4) Good point! We kinda need to add that. This one is pretty big: 17.2cm x 7.7cm.

Quick update:

Our supplier has green lit the production on the press and the notes are finally getting printed. It will take us 3 weeks or so to go through the actual print process, do all the checks, source packaging and get these notes to where they need to be.

This is quite typical with startups working on thier first product, unfortunately. Typically small order quantities are always considered low priority to estalished companies.

Still, we will do our best to launch this year.

We are getting the packaging and sticker on the 27th from Italy, then we just need to ship from the UK to California. :P

Only thing in the way is international shipping at this point!

Thank you for the update.
I can confirm the notes have arrived safely.
I have a list and will PM people later today/tomorrow.
There will be no payments or any shipping at this point.
As stated by poylmerbit, we are still waiting on the packaging and sticker....
BUT, I would still like to prepare and reserve the appropriate notes to make sure there are enough, as it seems as we may need more stock already looking at the list :D
thanks

Here's a little preview:

I believe this option will be available soon.
For now it is mostly US members.
Other non-US members getting notes from me already have other items for distribution, so this is why you may see this.

thanks

OK, that's what I thought/remembered but got confused by Mitchell reserving one with you.

Just in case, if possible, calling dibs on the lowest serial number available for the Europe batch  ;)

Awesome. Feel free to shoot me a pm when the sale goes live.

They will retail at £6.99 in Europe.

So same price in USD and GBP? That's over 25% penalty for living in UK...
Can't you do the same price for everyone?

Ps will you be sending by standard 1st class or tracked/recorded? You could go for normal, cheaper 1st class and keep dispatch receipts to protect yourselves from refund claims etc

As with all prices, they are higher or lower depending on market demand and costs. It was clear to us that these notes will sell primarily in North America.

Secondly, our infrastructure (logistics etc) are mostly based in North America too. Making it a bit cheaper to sell notes there than here.

We will be offering both as options, shipping shouldent be too expensive in the UK.

Noted and they are these below. I got the bigger ones, as the notes are a little bit bigger than a standard bill and I wanted to make sure there was ample room so the notes did note get squished in a too small holder.

Please put me down for 10 notes plus 10 holders am in USA. If you can give me 601 to 610 that would be cool, if not any ten consecutive. I am not that picky so if you have to send mixed serial numbers no problem. Also sent PM to @minerjones I was never into collecting coins but the bills have me interested. It would be fun to collect each edition as the design changes and matures.

Is there a delivery schedule?  I know you said you had the notes, but were waiting on something, do we know when they will be ready to be reshipped.

Also, if I want to fund the notes, does your website have an easy to use application that I can fund the notes with or do I have to do it myself and all that fun generation of QR code stuff?

Hi yes,

I'm waiting for the tamper evident sticker and the packaging to arrive here in London so I can ship them to miner. He already has the notes and is taking reservations for North America.

Hopefully by next week I will have them here so I can immediately post them to California.

Next week the notes should start selling for UK/EU clients!

We have simple recommended instructions but use a third party at the moment.

For those wanting to load some notes I think you could use white polymer sticky backed paper designed for inkjet printers. Here is a link (https://www.amazon.com/Papilio-Inkjet-White-Waterproof-Vinyl/dp/B0054SQCPU) to a product on Amazon and there are others.

I would print the private key on the sticky white paper, place on note, cover with some non sticky white typing paper then affix tamper proof seal as shown at https://i.imgur.com/VmsJX20.jpg and then place sticky public QR. I look forward to trying it out. If you know of a particular brand of polymer paper for inkjet printers that works well for you please post.

what kind of printer do you guys use? everything i could find with a usb (for mycelium entropy) was usually wifi connected. also is there a trusted offline QR code generator that you guys use for these things? I have a few public/private keys from bitaddress.org that I have in a Cryptosteel ANY and would like to be able to print the QR code to have as a backup.

Well, we do recommend bitaddress.org and suggested it as the quickest way to print the QRs for the note.

Granted, its still safer to use an offline linux system, but we knew it was trusted.

For the time being, I don't have a system set up to run this offline and can't recommend one specific offline solution.

Also, get me hooked with 10 holders, please.

Please change my reservation to the lowest #'s available. If they aren't consecutive, that's fine.

Yeah I think that they are going to open the website for buyers orders at that time but I am not quite sure.

Anyway I am pretty sure that minerjones here  ships internationally, you can ask him, although I placed an order and I am not living at the USA:)

Hello-
At this time I am able to reserve for USA/CAN members only.
International orders will be available in a few days from the main site: http://www.polymerbit.com

For transparency: any international members receiving notes from me already HAD packages with me for reshipping. So that is why you may see some of them on the list/posting here.

thank you

I did .. but no luck only USA/CAD at the Moment :-(

Our website will open for sales worldwide, but for those who reserved from miner should contact him and follow his instructions for payment.

If you have reserved a specific serial number, do not buy from our website!

We are having some trouble with BTC, cant get it to work on the sites. Not to mention that one of the transactions we held is still pending.

For now USD/EUR/GBP is prefered. That will change when we can get this working.

When do you think you'll have the 0.2 Notes ready, and how many will you have?

Love these notes!!

Love these notes!!

For now, the 0.1 BTC run is finished. We might print some more in the future with a 'B' serial number.

However, we'd much rather focus our efforts on producing a whole series than making too many of one denomination.

The 0.2 Notes will probably be ready by 2018. However, we will release a few test prints beforehand made of water proof paper to see if its worth it to pursue.

The 0.2 note in polymer will also most likely be limited to 1000 pcs.

Good point, I might actually try to make some.

I was quite surprised how well these well selling. But I've been transparent as to the idea behind them so I'm suspecting that  people are actually helping me get this company off the ground quicker :) .

EDIT: I just realised you may be talking about producing them in polymer. For now I plan to stick to producing the first series from 0.1 up to 1BTC, those will be made after that :)

I've noticed you've been referring to BTC0.2 notes few times but image shows 20 mBtc, so BTC0.02. Are these different notes, or is it a mistake? 0.02 btc seems bit low amount for cold storage.

It would be good to put both denominations in the design, is large "20 mBtc" + small print "BTC0.02" underneath.

Got The polymerbit cold storage the other day and it was much better than the pics. The plastic sleeve is worth it.

Very nice, do these notes fit into the thick acrylic bill holders - either small or large bills?

Hi
I was wondering if you got the package that I sent you with the Cryptolators? I haven't heard from you, so I thought I'd contact you thru this forum. I also wanted to speak with you about something else. TTYS

They do fit into the same slabs that we used for the Genesis slabs.
I removed the center piece, as the cutout part was a little to small for the note.
It fits pretty well with these slabs. :D

Looks pretty good in the slab, I'll have to check to see if I have any spares.   ;D

Thanks,

What's left in stock? Is there any word on the new notes from polymerbit? Seems they went a bit MIA after releasing this first series..

These are by far some of the absolutely nicest collectibles I have ever had, Just waiting for the perfect time to load them (The idea of having BTCC load them is interesting). They are cheap too!!

Glad to hear this, was getting worried for a little while lol.

So any sneak peaks you can share? And what about custom notes, will that be available in the near future? Pre-assembled notes? There's so many things I could see this one going, I still love the first one though :).

Haha good to know!

I'll just put it this way:

We now have the equipment and ability to print Polymer notes in house!

Meaning;

1) Yes, notes can be customised!!!

2) It won't take a year to get a note out

3) So much more (you'll see)

Viacoin? That's interesting. I'm wondering how that decision was made considering the history around Via and the rumors that are revolving around Viacoin right now.

Interesting, for sure. Will this open up for more altcoins to get these notes? I can think of a few that'd be amazing to have these notes for. Any official comments from polymerbit? :)

I may have been told some fud by some single users but roaming around different slack channels you pick up certain things. Some have called it a pumpNdump coin that certain individuals hold a lot of with that purpose alone. I have not been involved in it's community though so I can only speak of what I've heard. Hello!

Well... This is quite concerning. But I have to be honest, I haven't heard about any negative press on Viacoin.  ???

I really hope this is not the case.

In anycase, we were simply looking at creating concepts for various altcoins and were propositioned to make it.  :)

I'll keep an eye on it.

I would call that being misinformed :D. I think some people might get that impression because Otoh is holding a large share of VIA (and posted about it): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1840789.msg19590403#msg19590403

Viacoin has a very talented dev behind it and is about to signal for Segwit (and some other updates like Lightning Network support following shortly).

I guess in talking about the old and the original viacoin where apparently they had an ico and after tokens were distributed they stopped updating the coin and more or less left it for dead.

If a new dev has taken over it and relaunched it then fine. But via can't really be called a new up and coming coin.

I may act under misinformation but even googling viacoin gives me this information from over a year ago so that's what I meant with the history.

Again, I don't know the state of the coin today or what the future plans are.

I don't know much about the history of Via, apart from that Peter Todd was involved in the development. Romano picked up the development and started a new thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1840789.0. Everything you find in there is up-to-date :D.

Just received my 500 Gulden notes, the regular version and the 2017 Leiden Meet version (both #25).

~snip

This brings my total collection to 12 different Polymerbit notes, all numbered #25.

~snip

Now waiting for my 500 Viacoin notes (https://www.polymerbit.com/product-page/polymer-test-polymerbit-500-viacoin) to arrive (edit: 500 is the denomination, not the number of notes I ordered ;D).

Collection shaping up nicely I see! Would you mind telling me which ones you have? Checking the polymerbit website I don't see that many different versions haha.

Also, what's the real difference between a test note and a regular one? Any difference in feel etc.? :)

I think all sold out versions are being removed from the store. The test notes are sometimes printed on a different kind of paper (not all notes have been printed on actual polymer) or small changes have been made to the design.

I have:

- Polymerbit 0.1 BTC.
- Polymerbit 20 mBTC.
- Polymerbit 50 mBTC.
- Polymerbit 100 mBTC (Coinfest edition).
- Polymerbit 10 mBTC.
- Polymerbit 10 mBTC (alt. color).
- Polymerbit 10 mETH.
- Polymerbit 0.2 BTC.
- Polymerbit 100 Viacoin.
- Polymerbit 100 Gulden.
- Polymerbit 250 Gulden.
- Polymerbit 250 Gulden (2017 Leiden Meet).

I also have a few test sheets.

Can you point me to a picture of the "coinfest edition"?  I've never seen it before and can't seem to find it with my search.  Thanks ahead of time.  :)

Polymerbit notes are still underrated imo. My collection just keeps getting bigger and bigger :D.

All of them are numbered A0000025.

Hmmmm, looks like there are some duplicate serial #'s because I have a #25 coinfest and 0.2 btc, purchased directly from polymerbit.

My 0.2 note is the v2 note. My Coinfest note is serialized B0025 (maybe there was a second batch of them?). Will post pics later to clarify.

Ahhh ok. I thought the coinfest looked a bit like a B. I am not aware of any other B series notes, probably made specially for you because the A was already sent to me.

Checking the polymerbit website I don't see that many different versions haha.

  • Polymerbit 100 Gulden Dutch Verison (Polymer Test Print)
