Post by: Gyrsur on February 06, 2013, 10:52:57 AM too angular. to much color which bite each other.
Title: Re: Does this design suck or not? Post by: greyhawk on February 06, 2013, 11:05:35 AM The design is all over the place. Nothing fits together from a size and spaceing aspect. Whitespace is everywhere while actual content is crammed together. There's no "line" in the design, you've got angled corners, straight corners, slightly less angled corners. You've got gradients going wild everwhere each looking different, each leading viewer attention away from the important bits.

Post by: greyhawk on February 06, 2013, 11:45:16 AM New design is much, much better.
Some suggestions still: Pull out the About box and "Stats" boxes, so they fill more of the user panel to the right. Ideally you want to have as much whitespace at the right side of the box as on the left side Reverse the descriptor:value order in the stats boxes. Putting the descriptor on top makes it easier for the brain to digest the information. Something needs to be done about the funds display to the left. I would suggest getting rid of the darker framing entirely, making the currency denominator more black and centering both items horizontally. Either make the left and right panels the same size height wise, or considerably shorten the left panel to the end of content. Currently the panels end at somewhat about the same height but not quite, which just looks messy. Title: Re: Does this design suck or not? The sidebar is going to be redesigned completely, and also as you can see there are a lot of information that's not there yet (on the profile box too), Thank you for all your comments, I tipped you a small amount of BTC!Some suggestions still: Pull out the About box and "Stats" boxes, so they fill more of the user panel to the right. Title: Re: Does this design suck or not? Post by: b!z on February 08, 2013, 08:39:16 AM Looks pretty decent, although I'd suggest you change the font to a different sans-serif, and align the left bar to the left side of the top thing.
Title: Re: Does this design suck or not? Post by: FirstAscent on February 08, 2013, 04:56:49 PM It sucks.
Why don't things line up on the left? Why does the 2.97 box not align with the boxes above it? Why doesn't the About box line up with the "1 Level" box? Why do some boxes have borders and others don't? Why are the 100 AUD and 0 GOLD boxes so ugly? For starters: Make an invisible grid with thin margins between each grid element. Every item must align to a grid border. Find a color wheel. Choose two colors opposite each other on the color wheel. One will be dominant, one will be an accent. Then choose white or black as the background color. Choose white or black as your font color. If white is your background color, it's fine to use white as a font color if it's overlaid on a colored square, drawn from your thematic color choices. Gradients are okay if used consistently and with subtlety. |
