Former Congressman Billy Townsend, who was a Republican from Louisiana, who steered the bill through the house retired soon after passing this bill and took a 2 million dollar a year job as a lobbyist at PHARMA (which is Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the main industry lobbying group). ... The pharma cartels are only interested in making money. They are not interested in reducing the suffering of humans. The best example is their lobbying against marijuana. Weed could be a cheap and more effective painkiller than those dangerous opioid-based painkillers produced by the big pharma. But they have managed to ban marijuana in most of the countries through lobbying. |
