Wasn't there news a few months ago saying the Bitcoin symbol was accepted for Unicode? Well, I guess here are the results. Pretty good. If euro, dollar, etc are there why no Bitcoin?

It was a member here I think who himself was going through a process to get it approved, I remember reading the thread but can't recall the username.

That's great and I guess we should all thank one of the members here who took it to twitter as well and spread the approval of his proposal for including BTC sign for Unicode, couple of months back (can't remember his name either). Although it will be introduced to latest versions of Microsoft Office, it will be a good addition and helps into adoption in a indirect way (minimal % but it will be worth it).

It doesn't seem to be a big news, as microsoft has already accepted bitcoin they have added the bitcoin symbol to the office package.

Microsoft Office365 finally supports Bitcoin Currency Format and i think there is no other option for them. Being the world leader in office application , they cant omit Bitcoins symbol from their office Suite.

This is still in the development stage guys and it will only be available to subscribers... The Unicode change should be implemented with a Windows OS update, not a separate project to build it into

their Office suite. Microsoft should rather just update their OS and have it be available for all their other products and platforms. The Bitcoin customer base is still too small for them to give a damn.

Once Bitcoin goes mainstream, we will see Bitcoin integration go global in many of their other products.  ::)

FTFY :D

Open Source users of Bitcoin should support other open source IMO. That's the culture that created Bitcoin to begin with; Microsoft would never have created anything like it in a corporate culture.

https://libreoffice.org

not sure if they support the Bitcoin symbol yet, but that doesn't matter much when you could implement that yourself. Try doing that with MammonSoft products.

Well it's about time for Microsoft to update their Office suite with the Bitcoin Currency Format. I wonder if other free office solutions like OpenOffice and LibreOffice will update their software accordingly because not everyone has the money to buy Office365.

aww, that is a disappointing symbol for bitcoin. it should have been this: BTC the same as the Dollar sign $ that would have been much better that what this image is showing, since they are similar with the vertical line.

I am quite sure that if enough people complain about this that Microsoft will replace it with something that the community here can live with. Just send out all your complaints to Microsoft.

LibreOffice is great. But no, they don't have the Bitcoin symbol. Yet ;)

German team, and they accept Bitcoin donations (https://libreoffice.org/donate) since a long time ago now. I'm a little surprised it's not already a feature (like I said before, anyone can write the required code and submit it to their project if they want to)

Pretty reasonable IMO and a necessary thing since there would be some of the customers using bitcoin and would need to be able to use it in format easily and that would be good.
