Title: bitcoinwireless in the EU
Post by: yossarian on February 07, 2013, 04:42:31 PM
http://www.bitcoinwireless.com (http://www.bitcoinwireless.com) finally went online. Unfortunately, there's not many options to recharge your cellphone in most of the EU countries.

I still want to use bitcoinwireless (and Bitcoin) to charge up my cell phone. So I was thinking: Is there any carrier that offers cheap prepaid roaming calls in any of the countries that are on the list? Most of the websites don't aren't to easy to navigate if you don't speak the language, so I was hoping some locals could help out. :D

I skimmed through the list and found the following options:
  • Cyprus, MTN (http://www.mtn.com.cy/en/roamingprepaid/)
  • Lithuania, Tele2 (http://tele2.lt)
  • Poland - multiple carriers
  • Portugal - Optimus (http://www.optimus.pt), TMN (http://www.tmn.pt/portal/site/tmn), Vodafone (http://www.vodafone.pt/main/particulares)
  • Russia?
  • Spain - Carrefour movi (http://www.carrefour.es/telecom), Lebara (http://www.lebara.es/), Telefonica (http://www.telefonica.es/portada/index.html), Orange (http://www.orange.es/) and more.
  • Turkey Vodafone (http://www.vodafone.com.tr)

I'll update the list as soon as I know more. And hopefully, bitcoinwireless will support more countries soon. But I don't wanna wait!

Any news about your attempt to pay your calls with btc?
I noticed this could be a very useful option for me as well, but not in roaming 8)

Not really, sorry. Some of the Bitcoin-ATMs might offer the option to recharge your cellphone credit, but afaik they haven't been deployed yet.
