Title: Why does everyone want the 5830s? Post by: Icy- on June 09, 2011, 10:20:26 PM What is so great about them, how are they better than the more pricey and newer cards?
Thanks! Title: Re: Why does everyone want the 5830s? Post by: Freakin on June 09, 2011, 10:22:08 PM they are great in terms of MH/$. When they were selling for $100 they were 3MH/$, compared to something like the 6990 that is closer to 1-2MH/$.
Pretty hard to beat Title: Re: Why does everyone want the 5830s? Post by: tunatime on June 09, 2011, 10:22:11 PM they uesed to be dirt cheep not anymore thouhg i bought 6950 for my rigs becues i game and if bitcoins ever fails a 6950 will sell for a lot mroe then a 5830

My current 5850 is 2.33MH/s/% Title: Re: Why does everyone want the 5830s? Post by: jonnynogood on June 09, 2011, 10:46:11 PM also consider the power cost of the cards, heat generated and fan noise. the 5830 supposedly can pull 200+ watts each the 6870 cards can easily hit 280Mh without underclocking mem, cost about 180 bucks and use about 160w (with stock memory/core clocks). if you space them apart a bit they only run at 70º when overclocked to 975 and the fans at 60%
if you only have a few cards in a machine it wont make much of a difference but if you have 4+ cards on a motherboard it starts to add up (more wattage every day, more expensive power supplies, more heat, more fan noise/ more power to the fans, etc) Title: Re: Why does everyone want the 5830s?
