Cash abolition could be the best thing that could happen to bitcoin, in terms of price and popularity. At least in short term. But if cash is abolished, the next logical step for the gov would be to do the same with cryptos and other cash equivalents (or introduce severe restrictions).

But honestly, I can't picture UK banning cash anytime soon, if at all, they're too conservative to do that.

Anyhow, hope this petition gets to 10k.

Maybe it would be a good thing in 50 or 100 years, it won't happen before then. Cash is incredibly wasteful really and vulnerable to fraud. It may be more efficient recycling paper or using electricity for internet transactions.

I would not exactly call bitcoin mining eco friendly either, uses a lot more electricity than printing off some notes.

Think the signatures have to be from England and not from all over the world. 10K is easy to hit otherwise and they would be debating stupid stuff like Jedi weddings. :D

They don't debate after 10k, they would consider debating in parliament after 100k signatures.

And Jedi weddings are not necessarily the best example of stupid stuff, as almost 400,000 people in England and Wales declared  Jedi as their religion in 2001 census.

Bolded: I never stated they debate after 10K but I can see how you came to that conclusion.

Red: If I recall the main reason those numbers where hit for Jedi Knights was more a political statement than actual religious number.
Otherwise Jedi Knights would be appearing in every Country with a open democracy. People do stupid things to make a point and will spite their nose if they feel they are being poor done by. I think it relates fine.

So now the question is whether to continue the petition, in the believe that everything they say is lies, or whether to let the sleeping dogs lie, instead of waking them, or (smartest) buy more bitcoin....

Ive yet to see any petition to the uk goverment amount to anything, even after debating petitions that reach 100k or more ive never actually seen a change. Uk goverment will only stick with the status quo.

The only way is to minimize bank usage and move towards bitcoin. U can easily save a lot living like that.

There isn't any way that cash would ever be abolished in the UK. Businesses like taxis and pubs would be up in arms about it, and the govt wouldn't ever allow it because it would cost them votes. The BoE can only set interest rates, they can't change the nature of the currency itself - that's down to Parliament.

I would continue your petition anyway - it would be useful for Parliament to debate it and publicly make the point that cash is here to stay.

Id say we are at least 100 years away from being cash free. What you have to remember is we havce people in society still who dont even have a computer at home or a mobile phone. People like this will always rely on cash for any transaction.

according to me, even though they can find 100k signatures from england, united kingdom government wil not care about this petition..  they just want to suck british people 's blood for sure..

I agree with you.
In some countries like Switzerland, if so many signatures are collected, government would be required to call a referendum and would have to accept the will of the people, whatever it is.
In UK, I don't think they will do something like this.
Government will do everything in their power to protect and help financial industry, not ordinary people like you or me.
It's sad reality.
