I know that Satoshi created the first cryptocurrency - Bitcoin. But how did the world came to know about it ? How did miners came to know about it and how the common people started to use it ? There was no such term as cryptocurrency at that time.

who told you that? there was many term that time.. I saw a news in bbc.co.uk which was published back in 2012. it is obvious if bbc give coverage of bitcoin. bitcoin will surely spread around the world in just one night.   

yes satoshi created bitcoin, bitcoin is not printed, it is discovered. people send bitcoins to each other over the bitcoin network all the time. the bitcoin network collects all the transactions made during a set period into a list called a block. it's the miner's job to confirm those transactions and write them into a general ledger.

probably after the domain for bitcoin-org was bought, because i don't remember satoshi itself spreading it through many forum, but maybe i'm wrong, if someone can enlighten me on this

I learned about it from friends and workmates. I guess being in a nerdy social tier gets you to places you never dream of. Because of them, I started bitcoin relatively early. To be exact, the day before bitcoin started shooting up. But I refused to waste my money on some "useless virtual asset". Oh, how was I wrong.

Bitcoin spread by the power of social media and also seeing some streamers accepting bitcoins as donations, that was the time i discovered and got curious as to what is all about bitcoin.

I herd the first ever bitcoin transaction was for a pizza dont know how true it is though

I don't know if its true either, but that story is very sad if its true, a guy bought a Pizza for 10.000 BTC when the price of BTC was ridiculous back then was only cents. Now if this story is true I am sorry for him as he should be a millionaire now.

i ever heard it about bitcoin transaction for a pizza which cost 1000btc,and i think the first transaction was made by satoshi because he need to test his currency

Press, Media, News, Internet have played a major role in spreading bitcoin, no doubt majority of them were busy in spreading it negatively but smart people took it positively and started to use it.

I came to know about bitcoin from a friend which he happen to know about from a friend of a friend....
So yeah, bitcoin spread thru viva voce my friend and I can't think of any other way.

The first time I heard about Bitcoin was from Slashdot, but I don't give a f*ck about it back then. Three years later, I found this forum by chance and started to actively involved in Bitcoin (mostly fauceting at that time :-P).

In my case, google did the trick. I searched on possible online ways to earn money and BTCitcoin was one of it, and made me interested and next I searched on how to earn BTCitcoin and that's how I was introduced to mining using GPU's and use of faucets back in 2011. There was many facebook groups that used to showcase every miners computer in which where mostly modified using multiple GPU's (really fun back then). Rewards on faucets were also better back then.

Black markets help bitcoin spread around the world specialy silkroad as far as i know.

Social media? How exactly? I don't see any official Bitcoin group on Facebook or something like that. I am long time internet user but surprisingly I didn't learn about bitcoin from the internet.
Instead I heard about is in live conversation somewhere. And then I found this forum.

Id say forums more than social media (or are they the same thing?). I first heard of bitcoin on a tech forum, people buying/selling for bitcoin as well as building rigs.

I think that's the responsibility of the Bitcoin's community to advertise this powerful crypto currency and spread it as much as possible , because in fact the most part of people worldwide still ignoring it till now

If HIV could spread just like that ,do you think it would be hard for bitcoin to be spread around with the monetary advantage it has :P, the main reason is, it is decentralized and users can transact directly without an intermediary  what more do you want .

No, it's not the first transaction ever. It was the most famous transaction the everyone should now, because the guy sent 10,000BTC just for a pizza.

i guess satoshi create bitcoin with some people work together him,even satoshi not publish bitcoin directly,i guess some of his team work talk about this new crypto currency to other people,and then media hear it,and you know if media has got news,they spread it around the world.

I think it was the cryptography forum and this forum.

Initially it was only Satoshi and Hal, and perhaps a few others who were interested in cryptography and cryptocurrency. The very first versions were full of bugs and through working with the enthusiasts the codes improved significantly.

I think at that time people were focus on how to get the protocol/software to work and how to perfect it. Nowadays, the focus is more on "how to get rich with bitcoin?" or "how am I going to benefit from it?". I really hope the spirits of the initial group will come back.

And also it was spread by using social media and promote it to get the attention people in cyberworld althoug it was unknown before and luckily who attracted to it om thos pass years are rich by now.

I got to know about bitcoin from another forum, bitcoin is spread through social media,forums,folks etc.. there were only few promoters back when it started, slowly bitcoin adoption grew as well  supporters and bitcoin is now promote everywhere lol.

I guess it was from people who have very much of the network. may he make advertising that could quickly spread, and I believe bitcoin used to gamble and trading at the time. and I sure need a lot of people to spread the bitcoin to be used

writing many articles and creating so blogs and websites about Bitcoin could help to spread the Bitcoin in my opinion

I think some faucets in the beginning, helped to spread the FREE coins to people and via word of mouth, people started to investigate. The pizza thing was just news back then, when people realized

that Bitcoin could actually have some value, if it was used to buy every day things... like food. The additional attention came, when those coins were extrapolated to the increased price, when it

already became popular and people saw the NEW much higher price.  ::)

as far as i know it first spread in the deep web, then after assuring the stability and how clean the transactions were, it spread using social media, forums, 4chans, and advertisements

People mainly started to get interested in it at that time because there was some money to be made. People then were mining with their notebooks and PC's to generate a few hundred coins per day in some cases. After that it was spreading like a bacteria. Especially once the media was covering Bitcoin. And at that time the media wasn't that negative at all. Long story short, the main motive for people was money. It probably still is for 90% of the people nowadays.

my czn told me about bitcoin.
he told me that he is earning money with a deferent way. there is a new currency available on the web which name is bitcoin. and people getting rich with it.

I think I first heard about Bitcoin back in late 2012 while browsing another forum. It didn't catch my attention because I assumed it was some kind of a technological project for computer geeks or something and there was no real use for the thing and oh boy was I totally wrong. I wish as I was an early adopter but it's my fault for being ignorant and now we are scrambling for peanuts while back then you could have thousands of coins haha.

bitcoin spread by media but the more important way is when bitcoin spread by people who trust in bitcoin then they will tell to their friend,family,neighbour,etc.

that is how bitcoin spread nowdays,spread by media,people who care about bitcoin and then they make promotion without paid by everyone,introduce on college and office,its many way to sprread bitcoin,also people try to spread bitcoin to their family. but i wonder how the first time media know about bitcoin,even satoshi nakamoto known as bitcoin founder,but i dont see any history how he report bitcoin to media.

everyone does have this kind of story for sure, i was not interested because it was not worth it and more over i thought it was one big scam sharing power and resources, as they could do anything with the kind of resources they are having, and with the main man in the project anonymous, what more you should expect. later on i found i was mistaken by that time, you couldnt catch this train.  :)

Well, i actually have no idea about it, but i guess it must have spread slowly first of all as when satoshi created it he must have shared the idea with some people, and later those people must have talked about it somewhere else, and just like that it started spreading and today we can see thousands of people around the world using it.

Sorry for me. I known the bitcoin in 2015 i think if i know bitcoin back then im rich today. Back in the topic bitcoin is spread by word by mouth and social media promoting it was catch many attention cause they see many oeople earn a lot in bitcoin and this coin is easy to transfer and do transaction.

I think bitcoin spread through users who were already a part of the growing technology. As we people came through our friends or people next to us. I haven't seen bitcoin spread through some form of advertising or something else.

This is actually how bitcoin continues to spread today. Word of mouth is always the best advertisement any product could have

its just one of many way for bitcoin to be more popular from time to time,but i'm sure the most influance for bitcoin popularity are media,online media is the most influence besaide people talk to other people.

well actually there are lots of ways how bitcoin spreads, my friend told me about bitcoin, i told about them to my friends, but that is not only way how bitcoin spreads

i saw info about bitcoins in local news, saw them in BBC news too, on internet too, and of course bitcoin gambling sites attracts users because they want to try it out

I think bitcoin spread when it starts to be spread when bitcoins came out on trading sites online.Many investors invest om bitcoin and they promote bitcoin and share wht opportunities may hit them.Thats the reason why and how  bitcoins spread online and on market thats why bitcoin is too famous and on demand now.

I think bitcoin spread because of news online.Of course the developers will spread it online on different blogs and place their plans there to invite users to use it.They will promote it and thatswhy i think bitcoin is spread.They post it on every blogs and every people who registered invite other also so bitcoin network became too big.

I believe that bitcoin was spread by the developers in the starting days..As the days passed on,people started spreading it and the bitcoin community became very vast.

in my perception the bitcoin was spread out through the communities who believe in Bitcoins.

I found a Minecraft Bitcoin casino in mid 2013. I bought an amazon gift card from my earnings with it. A few days later it went from $600 to $1000 and I was full of regret.

Minecraft did a good thing advertising bitcoin. And I see a lot of people playing it due to simplicity and just building something. I thought this game was lame but actually it made me spend some time playing it.

I think it's just spread because of it's being an cryptocurrency i mean its online so it is easy to other bitcoin lovers to spread the news about this bitcoin and what are the good benefits of having them.

Word of mouth to begin with I'd imagine. If something is interesting, it'll spread wide and far in no time, even more so if it has anything to do with money  ;D
Then there is the fact that Satoshi's paper is pretty impressive which means it probably got a lot of attention from programmers, software engineers, academics and such. That probably led to articles and then later on the news. 

It spread via something called the grapevine. Satoshi published the bitcoin with paper and posted on one of the crypto mailing lists, people made comments and downloaded the software, Hal received the first transaction and the word spread though all the friends these guys had who were really into the whole concept of a decentralised currency.

It probably started to spread into the mainstream from other finding articles in tech mags and online forums.

The biggest questions is how is bitcoin going to spread it's wings from where we are now into mainstream adoption.

Satoshi published the Bitcoin whitepaper and sent it through mail and those who were interested in cryptography obviously got involved in it. The huge push in popularity was most likely the economic crisis Cyprus was facing and it pushed the prices. Seeing this, many people also started mining.

It spread into different tech forums and other cryptography-related hubs right before this bitcoin forum was created. For a year or two, the topic bitcoin is only circulating around tech geeks who are enthusiastic about a cashless payment scheme. Afterwards, when price increased, it became a matter of speculation among geeks and laymen alike. Word of mouth continues to spread on different people, until everybody and your mother knows about it.

In the beginning all the transactions were done in deep web, then after some time, curiosity started to spread and google and many other media started publishing articles about bitcoin, and this is how bitcoin is spread to the world. Advertising, it is the advertising and PR (public relations) which make a business an industry famous among all the people around the world.

I think he started to tell about bitcoin to his friends and people around him, and in that way more people started to become aware from this technology.

Bitcoin was first created by Satoshi, but no one knows that how did it spread among the people on internet, it is also unknown just like no one knows that who is Satoshi, I think if it was known that how did it spread that people would easily reach to Satoshi.

Thats right, like other crypto-currency they have a goal that the coin will use in future and the price of it will rise in the future. The miners i think they know some earning this bitcoin will profitable so i think that why they risk their money on it. I think it is like in other crypto currency that they promise that they can use it and they can earn in future.

the currency probably started floating around on the internet, and it was the first ever cryptocurrency so people started buying into it because it seemed like a good idea. kind of like the kickstarters that happen these days.

yeah public relations maybe also have a considerable influence. because every person must have the close and perhaps word of mouth. bitcoin spread so inadvertently. yeah the news on tv also affects the deployment of bitcoin ?

people will always choose the good technologies themselves and even if you don't tell them like advertising and things like that they will find out good stuff and will use them just like bitcoin but it will always take time.

Bitcoin was definitely not the first cryptocurrency as there was I don't exactly remember the name but I think it was digi-cash or something. Bitcoin is however the first successful cryptocurrency. It first spread as the currency used on the dark market then it made its way through the public market when people started selling actual, legal goods for bitcoins.

I can tell you that the first time I heard about bitcoin was back in 2010, at a cyber crime conference. Got in love with it. Back then was difficult to find anything in the news, apart from a few articles on Silk Road and a couple of Senators in the US who wanted to ban it. For at least other two years I suppose I have read every single piece that was available in the news, just to tell you how few they were. It was almost unknown and I could barely find anyone who knew about it! Then the press coverage started and the rest is history.

This!  Bitcoin spread because of one person tells it to another and the chain goes on.  Introduction, promotion, marketing, did made bitcoin spread like a wildfire in a virgin forest.  Though it take sometime before lots of legal merchant adopted it though.

Bitcoin spread because people heard about it, then proceeded to look into it and saw they could make money, those who were able to get through the grueling technical information or long first few months ended up staying (at least in my case) and then they eventually start ot see some rewards for their work.

Bitcoin has been growing more through social media recently, definitely, but its initial growth was through people hearing it by word of mouth or, back in 2013, through the news.

I think bitcoin spreads because of its various methods of free earnings, because if there are users earning bitcoins they would share this to others and by listening this others start taking interest in it and they also jump into bitcoin for earning free money, so in that way it spreads a lot.
