Why would you hate on this guy? From all of the CEOs out there, last time I checked he was pro-Bitcoin. Now, I don't know if he is one of those Classic shills or not, but in any case I don't think making assumptions about stuff and sort of saying that he deserves it or something is cool, I think its insane. Are you saying that he is ill because he parties a lot? I dont get it.

Wasn't Patrick Byrne at the EuroMoney20/20 event recently? I bet he would have loved to be at Overstock until they issue their public blockchain security. This announcement does seem sudden.

Dam sorry to hear such bad news, lets hope he gets better soon.  The good thing is he can afford a well earned rest.  Bitcoin is weaker for this period i think.

Can you become sick by caviar? Is there really a way to overdose those fish eggs?
Man the bold and beautiful really seem to have big problems!! :D

Patrick Byrne is a legend and he fought for Bitcoin when others thought he was crazy. He has paved the way for bigger businesses to start accepting Bitcoin and he continued

doing it ever since. He has a long history of fighting different illnesses and we have to support him through this too. Patrick ...If you reading this, I want to thank you for what

you have done for this Bitcoin community and I hope you will fight this illness as you have done before and you will come out of this one.. stronger and better than before. We

Salute you for your contribution!!!!

I don't get it either.   I feel bad he has had this problem since 1984 and what a human being to keep going and eventually be one of the largest e-tailers.  I like this guy and like the fact he is pro-bitcoin.  I hope he gets better, people like that always do.

Interesting he is spiraling down so quick, must have abused his body a bit more than the average. My mother just went through the treatment and had it since the late 60s and they say a large majority of the boomers have it from lax practices back in the day. My mom was through a IV for dehydration in India along the hippy trail. How he let it progress so far along with out finding out is odd, especially with all his money, you would think that he could afford the treatment, its only $1K a pill for 10 weeks and even cheaper if you go to India.

"its only $1K a pill for 10 weeks"

Are you fucking kidding me. That is a lot of money for 99% of people out there, it's insane. In this case this would chump change from him tho.
I guess the guy was too busy building his empire and is high stress that is always associated with running big businesses got the best of him.

Well I wish him a speedy recovery. By the way I don't know why Overstock is so popular when last time I checked there for a new laptop I couldn't even find the model I was looking for and it was a newly launched model at that and the rest of the machines of that brand were all refurbished units with expensive price tags almost on par with new ones. What the heck?! Have you guys even bought something from Overstock? I think it's overpriced and badly itemized.

I think he deserves the break from work... hope he gets well very soon.

Hep C is a deadly disease, which may result in liver damage and even require transplant. Hospital transmission of Hep C is not uncommon, but definitely preventable.

Even though this guy appears to be kind of loopy (probably a bit more than kind of), this guy has at least some minor method to his madness, and I personally think he's made good choices.

I hope he gets well soon, but you never know.

Less than ideal conditions.  What was the doctor sewing up the wound with, used thread?  Makes no sense.

Funny, on the topic of colloidal silver I was just talking about argyria (colloidal silver storage/poisoning in the body) last week.  It's bad stuff and is quack medicine.

Most likely linked to the procedures/ instruments used. It is really a very common infection in many hospital due to human errors.

Hep C is transmitted blood to blood.   It's not common to get it in hospitals at all, sorry to disagree with you.  In fact that's why those stories you linked made the news.  How do you think someone gets it from having a wound sutured?

You need to research more, it was not till recently depending on your age, that people could get it from a lot of different aspects that involved the medical care. My mom got it in India travelling through a IV for dehydration but blood transfusions are another way. It was not till the mid eighties that they realized hep c was a potential issue. I looked into this a lot when my mom mentioned it because there was a chance I was born with it, but that is rare.

India, I'm not surprised.

Transmission is blood-blood and acquiring hep c whilst in a 1st world hospital is not a common occurrence.   What else do you think I should research,  your highness?

I am for getting behind him and wishing him well! I bought stock in Overstock many years ago because of his leadership.
Byrne rocks as a CEO, wish there were more like him...
and less whiney *****s who never have done a dang thing except blathering on about a man when he has been in a few fights for his life.
He has backed our bitcoin...let's suck it up buttercups and wish him all good things.
