Title: Please rebroadcast this
Post by: Dmitry.Vastov on April 12, 2016, 07:58:36 AM
Hi..
Just few hours back I saw a man selling btc for paysafecards and he sent me 0.07 btc 2 times for 70$ paysafecards and from that time bitcoins in my wallet are unconfirmed, I checked the transaction and he did not add any fees I asked him if it was intentional then he started boasting about paypal-trader , I really don't want to loose bitcoins.
Please rebroadcast the transaction.

you can do this yourself:

;)

If you can not do this yourself, Shorena is known to help out people with rebroadcasting...

@Dmitry.Vastov

You will need the raw transactions for the above page. You can find them here

I will be rebroadcasting as well, please send me a PM once they are confirmed.

Next time it's better to wait for one confirmation at least before sending something out. Chances are slim that a transaction withou fee gets confirmed nowadays.

Or use an escrow to be safe.

Generally, don't haste with trades. Take your time. It's often enough that traders that push you are dishonest ones that want to push you to make an error.

you can wait for 6 confirmation

it looks like he spent the change for the 2nd tx..

this is bad because if the first one doesnt confirm and gets knocked out, the 2nd one will disappear.

Thanks shorena, I will let you know once it is confirmed.
But I doubt it will ever confirmed.

if you save those raw transactions i think you can keep rebroadcasting it.. until he spends the bitcoin and it gets confirmed

unfortunately this is a huge flaw and will be a major set back of bitcoin becoming a currency.

I don't use core so I can't rebroadcast txns.
I tried block chain broadcast system but they says transaction already there.

use eligius.st you can push them yourself through their node.

he can do that until the owner spends those inputs and the transactions become invalid because they have already spent inputs (double spend)

and this is not a flaw, the guy sends the transaction with 0 fee so it takes a long time maybe never to confirm it is well-known. if he had included enough fee then 0 confirmation was ok because it would have been confirmed within ~10 min

yeah but any time a tx is allowed to disappear from the system is a huge problem. i understand its well known.. i understand its up to the sender to include enough fee.. but the fact that they dont have to, and if they dont they get their coins back after a couple days.. its a problem. its big enough that it will keep merchants from using bitcoin.. specially after they lose a few this way.

even if you send a tx with a fee, it might not be enough and get rejected anyway.. its pure guesswork, unless you include a fee that is way over the min.

yeah, i understand the problem but it is not that big. and the solution is easy.
if the transaction is small like in a coffee shop nobody is going to scam for a couple of bucks so no need for worrying in general. also checking to see how the priority and amount of fee included is not hard it can even be done with a simple code.
also the payment can be done through some services like bitpay or offchain transactions.

and if the transaction is big they will wait for confirmation (3-6) just like waiting for a bank transfer (which can be a couple of days) so the senders time would be wasted if he includes 0 fee.

I guess we will all have to help you rebroadcast. I have seen many users get scammed this way, especially with sites that just use bitcoin as a payment method, but don't actually handle the bitcoin or know anything about it.

Good luck, we hope your transaction goes through!

Without connections to miners its difficult to double spend a well propagated transaction. Since I (and possibly others) continuously rebroadcast it, its unlikely that other nodes will accept and relay a double spend.

i ever get this problem and you can't speed it up by making the same transaction but with fees again, you still need to wait till the first transaction was confirmed/unconfirmed,just 4 days maybe? ,it's from my past experience

shorena.. you do realise that the originating funds
https://blockchain.info/address/1LEbLUJUjmYangiu7VzM5JB7jh24q6Cijo (0.06)
https://blockchain.info/address/165pscQhVjsqT26gYn9eEMZU7Eu1wrUJX3 (0.01)

have already been spent elsewhere before.
so no matter how much you re-broadcast the tx for the OP. new tx will never confirm..

The inputs are not use in confirmed transactions and in no other unconfirmed transactions either AFAIK. Maybe link the double spend you think you have found? Your links lead to addresses, which is where I found the unconfirmed TX I think OP is talking about.

How could one send bitcoins that were previously used ? I wonder how it is just possible. Maybe you're wrong, but if you're right, that's freaky, because I always thought that there was no way to do it, and was not very careful.

i was wrong in this case as i took a quick glance at the numbers and didnt take the time to check. so i was too quick to judge
so relax about the OP's situation. it hopefully should confirm at some point.

as for your question about sending funds already used:
there is a way to make an already spent transaction output show on block explorers as a new transaction input, as unconfirmed. and that is just to broadcast a transaction that uses an already spent output. it will just sit in the mempool until its dropped. and not get confirmed.
emphasis: it wont get confirmed. so relax about that..

thus technically not a true double spend because its impossible to get 2 spents confirmed..

the problem is that people do trades based on just seeing a transaction before its confirmed, rather then waiting for the confirmation. so although its not a bitcoin confirmed double spend, by blindly handing over the other funds (for instance the OP sending paysafe funds) before its confirmed. if it never confirms then the person loses out. so people naively also call this method a "double spend".

id prefer to call this counterfeiting. rather then a double spend. because someone is presenting funds that are not going to authorise/settle.

but as i said the OP's situation is not a counterfeit tx and is just a slow to confirm tx, due to no fee

will it confirm or not ?

Its difficult to tell, no fee TX have a hard time getting confirmed, but the input you used already has 35137 confirmations[1]. It might be enough to get the priority for the TX to get accepted without fee. The input is 244 days old and roughly 1/12 of a bitcoin. This gives you roughly 244/12 = 20 bitcoin days, where 1 is enough to get a confirmation without fee. I think this is mainly a problem of reaching more nodes, as e.g. blocktrail does not know about it yet[2].

will it confirm or not ?

as long as the originator doesnt try to now make a tx plus a fee, to spend it elsewhere with the hope their fee included tx gets confirmed first.
so as long as the only tx in the mempool using them funds is the one intended to you, and as long as a pool finally adds your intended tx to a block then it will get confirmed.

so just keep broadcasting it so that it doesnt get dropped and hope the originator doesnt try to force a new tx using a fee.

OP is not alone in this , just few days back rollin.io announced a video contest and many people sent their entries and rollin,io paid them also but today all txns are gone from the network.
