I have an unusual thrill this morning, like it rarely happened in my life...usually it means big time!!!
Reading news i understood and the thrill became action:
Bitfinex 426 trend up
Btc-e 420 trend up
Coinbase 426 trend up
Bitstamp 425 trend up
Xapo (my wallet) 432 trend up

All alts down (and i mean it...ALL DOWN)! Yeah i'm sure now: it is showtime! Going to move a bunch of USD to Bitstamp...

It's the usually few dollars up and tomorrow or the day after that the price will go back to where it was.

To see the price really increase it at least must reach a price of $440 these weeks. Everything below that is no growth and thus not a real increase.

Everyone that isn't a fool and has been around in the game (and chances are those are the people that control relevant amount of coins) are moving all of their altcoin investments back to Bitcoin, and they are doing in a steady way but not in huge quantities to cause an alarm and make the price to to the moon, not yet, they are doing it slowly. The price will rise like crazy in the following months.

I think its too far to buy right now.. and i think the price will decrease again, i think below 410 i will wait for that or more low below 400 and i will buy more.. and hold it and wait for block halving to make lots of profit.. but i don't sell it because its hard to buy a cheap price of bitcoins again.. so i will start it for new business online to make a multiple profit..

You're right, but at the same time we should also remember all the posts about the "imminent" crash when BTC was at 30 or 200.

Yeah people are testing the waters in anticipation of the halving and we will see some small pre-pumps if I can call them that in the coming weeks. I agree with you that speculators will be moving funds out of the alt coins back into Bitcoin under the radar now that they are finished milking the alt coin pumps and prepare for the Bitcoin pump. It will be a very interesting summer this year in Bitcoinland and we need to get ready before the real show begins  ;)

What to wait is the prehalving effect.

With the current price movement I see no prehalving actions at the moment.

Just a speculation as always.

Personally I think the price will remain in the current range ($400-450) for the next few months unless something big happen (such as the real Satoshi reveal himself and convinced everyone he is Satoshi, or there is a breakthrough in blocksize debate).

Reward halving may see a small increase but the effect will only seen long term.

still holding my bitcoins right now, i bought them when it was $ 376, let see the prediction about halving is true and gonna be happen, just buying when the price is low and sell them at the right moment then enjoy the profit, goodluck to everyone

right now it's only about tiny gimmick movements, not even worth to watch it...

I am always with my seatbelts- I am ready when bitcoin is... but I don't seems to know what is drivinig the upward trend... Without a sold supporting factor, the is just pump and dump at best...

Do you guys think the real pump will start right before the halving or after? I am not so sure if we will see a lot of increase right now but hopefully in the fall we will be at $600 minimum. By the way if the price of Ethereum drops will it be still profitable for the GPU miners?

I can see some that we're yet. i do hope some of the alt i've waited to go up won't be affected by halving. Although I assume if bitcoin skyrocket, so are the alts.

I think that pump will start before halving but hardly that the pumped price will survive. 600$ minimum? I'm not so sure, my prediction is 500-550 max. At this time nobody can't really now how the price of Bitcoin will behave after halving.

If Bitcoin goes up, it is quite logical that alts go down in btc price, but that does not mean losing value. In other words, if altcoin X has a value of 50 sat and Bitcoin doubles price, altcoin X should then come to have a value of 25 sats. That is not "going down" is sustaining the same value really.

This is a stong sign that the bitcoin price could start to scale up at any moment now. Afterall the having is becoming nearer and nearer.

Good luck with your buy order but i dont think if there was a quick pump in bitcoin like quick dump in all alts its better you sell what you bought in the current price in profit before there was dump in bitcoin.

well bitcoin price is still cheap, but like you say, it will going to be good days for bitcoins, i think like this too, looks like bitcoin will rise now and won't fall for long time

i hope you are right, my prediction would be that by the time of halving we will reach some huge numbers such as 1000 dollars per bitcoin that will make all bitcoins users a lot of money

Of course i'm buying and not only Bitcoins! All those alts going cheap in the next weeks/months are so good to hold till after the halving when "they" will get pumped again ;)

The difficulty seems headed for a 5% increase and it was up by 100% from Dec. to Feb. so expect selling pressure into any rallies. Lots of big investments are in trouble and the bank wants money.

It seems for me kinda stable and I don't expect a big move right now but in the next weeks a cute increase in the price will happens imo

Don't worry, OP! Price will fall back down to 410 range in a few days, certainly before the weekend starts. We've been in the 410-425 range for a while now. There's nothing to shake it out of the range at the moment. Just relax and ride these small waves, I'm enjoying them, I buy on every dip and sell on every crest, just like taking candy from a baby.

I don't know, things have been looking pretty positive since the end of March.  If we can hit 430 I wouldn't be surprised if we manage to shoot back up to the 440+ range. 

As of now nothing has happened and most likely nothing will happen these days. I'm quite sure that we'll fall back to the well known $415-$420 levels after a few days, if not sooner.

OP this is just price fluctuation, a minor one.  Bitcoin is still stuck in the mo fo sand trap.  Wake me up when we're at $500.

30-day historical window has plunged to the 9th least volatile on record! Only days below this are Jan 3-10 2013. It is going to be hard for 30-day to be more stable than this. It stands at 0.858%.

60-day has made a small drop to position 31. It has crawled down to 1.486%. But in the coming <2 weeks I expect this number to plunge to near record levels due to the tail of the window dropping off a rather volatile mid-Feb.

The lack of excitement is exciting.

Ironically staying stable for a while will make people sitting on the sidelines ready to reinvest, and therefor shoot up and make it volatile again.  It's going to be a hell of a time trying to make the value of BTC stay stable for any decent length of time...

We don't want stability. Stability is stagnation and stagnation is death.

Stability is what makes big money feel safe enough putting something big forward for Bitcoin.  If we want some sort of wide adoption then we shouldn't want the price moving around enough that it feels like a huge risk.  Changes over time like in gold are one thing, but the swings we have in the world of crypto are just too crazy to make most people want to have anything to do with it.

Yeah it is finally beginning. The price is going up and this attracting more people. With the price being stable for so long people got bored and tired of waiting. But we can now make some moves again.

as much as i like this to happen sooner i think it is not yet time because the price still looks stable to me, now at $424
besides it is better this way, i would have more time to buy cheap coins :D


not all of them went down. only those bubbles that are bursting causing a downfall in multiple altcoins. they are ETH, Factom, Maidsafe(not that much though), a little dash, and a couple more.
but some others are still stable like Litecoin and doge which in fact went up 8-9 satoshis.

Trend seems to be up but the price action is still showing it medium paced which means the price is still in stable mode and I don't think we will see a huge pump unless either someone actually wants it, I mean with heavy amount of coins or cash; or halving actually takes place...

Volume is quite low, nothing special is happening, people began to stay way from bitcoin when they have to wait days for transaction confirmation, when the system is not reliable, you don't use it, maybe when bitcoin can handle a decent amount of transactions value will increase.

Confirms are working fine. I do test transfers whenever this topic comes up and never had any problem. It's just random FUD.

Its a good thing, if all alts are down then next step for some of them is to up. So maybe we can earn something on that, I have some alts in my possession.
Well lets enjoy the ride then, in last few weeks I got more into trading. I love to follow prices of some coins. Volumes, who is buying and how much, or people dumping coins. Its fun for me, I have couple dollars at yobit and I'm learning.
I believe we can see bitcoin on 550$. I don't think we need to fasten our seatbelts. We just can enjoy in nice ride.

But I think now the time has been started for the action, Now everyone started to buy bitcoin and the rate of bitcoin is started to move above the $420, the wait time has been lasted and now everyone in real sense started to prepare for halving.

Yes, everyone has considered it as a good time for buying bitcoin and that is why the price is going to start increasing in value, Now I think we should have to buy bitcoin as before the halving the price would have reached to more than $700.

The price has started going up a bit more over the past two days and touched $425. Now it tries to be stabilize on $425 which is long time expectation of users.

Yeah, it really started , with xapo today I saw it at $444, now it has been started, now the time is not far that we will see bitcoin at $500, we definitely will see it at coming two weeks.

Looking at the altcoins exchange rate most of the graphs are red color which means that the exchange rate is falling down, while the bitcoin price is growing (green colors), hope this trending will not stop even after the halving.

Im seeing $445 oh geez its starting now   :o hold your golden bitcoins guys its gonna be a fun ride towards the mooooon.

It is good to see that something is happening,for several days price is slowly increasing and today is crossed 440$.Is this what we all waiting for, or just a false alarm?If it continued to grow only 5$ per day we can see around 500$ by the end of this month :)

Yeah, really it is now interesting, yesterday I spend some bits to buy some service and the balance reduced a little but when today I logged in to my account I saw the balance once again reach to that amount.

I also agree the intelligence is that we buy now, as daily the price is increasing and everyday price is cheaper than the price of tomorrow, so I am buying and collecting more bitcoins from now as it will give me more benefit as the time passes.

It's having a series of new highs and lows. Probably when this movement is all over again, the price would be at a new higher floor. Kinda hoping that this would be a cycle - break, then new highs, then break again, till the halving.

Charts are repeating an old trend.  And expectations are that this bull market is about to be fueled by the coming halving...  one more major buy signal andcwe will move back towards ATH...

good call ... and you are right the market is looking for a new floor because 400 was too low for half the coin supply.

unfortunately the movement to find the new floor could be quite rapid and volatile and drag in new demand or cut off old-coin supply on rising price expectations so leading to a search for a new ceiling.

Rapid movements would be good for day trading, but there isn't a guarantee that everything would move favourable for now, so it might be better to buy and hodl. Not much else anyone can do for right now.

 I don't particularly care if it's relatively fleeting. I think a lot of people need reminding of what Bitcoin used to do when it was in a certain mood. It's been way, way too long.

If it is fleeting, the despondency will set in again.
A steady rise will help carry all investors (including weak hands) along.

There's no need to fasten your seatbelts, the price movement is way too slow for that. these $10-$20 movement means nothing. Back in late 2013, 3 years ago, you'd see $100 rise in less than a day. Your exuberance is an indication of bitcoin failure.

lol, will you ever get tired of this nonsense that you keep posting here? a while back you were claiming that bitcoin will soon fall under $200 with topics about big crash and abandon ship, now you say slow rise is an indication of failure...

Slow movement is actually good.

That's the scenario to look at: People are looking at the chart and see: oh yeah, BTC has moved up a little bit.

Then they ask themselves: Should I buy? Let's wait a day more.

They wait a day more, and see: again it went up for $2 or $3.

They think: Yeah, a stable uptrend! And I'm on time to buy!

And they buy, and so they are already part of the rally.

If the uptrend is faster, than many people get late, and the uptrend is distributed on lesser (often whale's) shoulders.
