I would say go for the silver coins. Many gold coins have been attempted or done here.

But dropping $2500 isn't easy for what I believe is most of the community.

Bad ass coin...just don't ruin platinum assholes...lol. seriously I probably won't buy a $2500 physical litecoin, maybe a silver one at a much lower price point.

Sounds like it would be a lovely and unique coin .... but I dont reckon LTC is the way to go. Why not go the bitcoin route but keep the platinum ? It would be more likely to be popular perhaps

It took Ognasty a long time to get the gold coins sold, and I am not sure that there were 10 unique buyers. Og is a long standing maker of coins, and has started with smaller coins, and built up reputation and trust, steadily getting bigger and more expensive coins. Going for a high end coin as a first offering is a brave move, but I wish you luck

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback, I may reconsider the platinum for a 2oz or 5oz silver spot. As we define the concept and lock up the design, I will update this thread accordingly.

I think creating a platinum coin would give you a unique selling point, don't know of any others that were sold in the crypto market. However that metal seems to contribute heavily towards the price, can you make it look good on a half oz coin or maybe have a mixed metal like the 2 pound coin. As others have said, mass market around here will see you sell out at a ceiling of $500 - if it is really special. Even then you can aim for a limited run of 25 to 50 minimum.

I'd be interested in a silver coin, but my pockets do not run deep enough for a $2.5k coin  :(

I wish you luck.  It is inevitable that a platinum coin will be produced by this community and I hope it's a good one.  It may seem expensive now, but that could change after the halving. :)

I would buy a 2oz/5oz silver coin with a 50 LTC denomination of the price was fair.
The problem with small minting runs is that the cost is divided by the limited coins and there's no widespread absorption of the cost. Factor in the other costs such as the design, shipping, assembly and then the markup, you end up with a highly overpriced coin that few people can afford.

Thanks again for all the replies, in a life of mundane work and parenthood, it's crypto and community that keeps me ticking as an individual and pleased to have met a user like mindtrip to enjoy this hobby with.

(1) I've established an artist, I hope a carbon design will be available for feedback within two weeks.
(2) I will need a graphic designer to quickly turn around the paper product (BTC/LTC compensated)
(3) The coin will be designed to store LTC and BTC, pre-loading of the coin TBD.
(4) The metal is TBD✌

I look forward to interacting with fine people as this project evolves. It's not an if, it's a when. I'm excited about the design and I can't wait to share it.

Peace, NLC

I hope you'll sell the unloaded coins as well.
I would prefer buying the unloaded one and then load it myself.

Thanks

Found a reasonable price with an established mint today and initiating the design. I hope to have Mindtrip's approval within a weeks time. As soon as I meet with the artist over the weekend, I'll leak some design info as well. I encourage you to evaluate it with and without pants on. The cost for developing the dies are no joke. I was not expecting it to be so expensive. Nothing has been set in stone, but my gorilla math yields a Projection: 1.75BTC per 5oz silver or 8.25BTC per 2oz platinum. The coins will be 63.5mm or 39mm respectively in the mint finish you'd expect of a treasure.

My intent is making ZERO profit from this project, amortizing the costs against the limited run, and be completely transparent to any investor. While we've never done this before, we've never let any one down to my recollection. You have to start somewhere I guess, and I hope the client base appreciates our initial offering. I'm looking at 75 days  to get these guys tied up in a knot to your door. I hear the requests for unloaded examples and that will likely be the path for coins 2-10 (or beyond, I already have 3 non-forum interests). However, the first one is going to be special, wait for it.

Peace, NLC

Not too sure you are taking the advice others have given onboard, you still seem to be adamant on a 5 oz silver or 2 oz platinum when everyone is warning you off it. I'm a nobody here, as are you, so you have very little reputation around here to fall back on. I would say an oversized coin (bigger than 1 oz) will be a tough sell and doesn't "fit in" with other collectibles.

You deserve to make a small profit on it, but a tiny run of ten will prevent that..

Personally, I'd rather not prefer another 5 oz Silver like the Nastyfans 5 Seat (aka the Hockey Puck).  I find it rather large, and less coin, and more of a medallion.  Just my preference, not meant in any way a jab at their coins.  I collect most all of theirs.

A 2oz Platinum is likely more expensive than people wish to commit, with a somewhat new/less known seller.  For example, gravitate (microsoul) is very well known and is going with a 1/4oz Platinum I believe.

I would suggest around a 1oz Silver (or 1/4 oz up to 2oz) , which is a more safe bet and common size/material.

While I appreciate smaller runs of under 25 coins, just note that the smaller the run, the more cost each coin has to absorb for minting, dies, and holos.  10 coins is a very small run, which creates rarity, but certainly costs per unit go up.

You may wish to refer to bigtimespaghetti's guide and/or service.

Ah, Come on fortify, im a little better than a nobody😟

Everyone sit tight for the design and we'll chat. Regardless of the number of the run, the dies cost is the same. Put get interest for more than 10, shit if I get interest for 50, that will change the strategy of course and may be the project will end up as a 2oz silver. I just assumed only 10 people would want this example😜

Generating Addresses starting tonight,

1NaTTyMind
LNaTTyMind

The serial numbers will be 1-Z, or QTY 36 initial release. Metal(s) and size TBD. I will have the preliminary carbon design by Friday afternoon and then we can get down business!

A peak. (http://imgur.com/mcXddxD)

I've been told it's going to take approximately 88 years to generate those 72 addresses, will reassess with 4x280x on the job.

Alternatives are
XNaTTy(1-Z)
XMiNdTrIp (1-Z)

Thoughts?

XMiNdTrIp will also take a lot of time to generate.
You should go with XNaTTy.

Do you know if you can generate with ASICS?

I found this:
ASIC = Application Specific Integrated Circuit

The application of block header hashing is not even remotely similar to the application of EC point multiplication.

So, while the literal answer to your question is that yes, you can use ASICs for vanity address searching, the answer that you are really looking for is that no, the specific ASICs you already have are not suitable.

EDIT: Also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/17dyo5/with_modification_would_i_be_able_to_use_an_asic/

Aren't the chips in Video Cards technically  ( ASIC )  Chips ??????

(2) Hologram implementation is in work, may take more than a month to finalize. I reached out to user bigtimespaghetti for assistance.
(3) XNaTTy(1-Z) vanity, for the first 36, maintaining NATTYMIND  brand of course.  Thank you to user OGN.

Stay tuned.

What made you go the vanity address route, because they'll be super expensive and "exclusive"? I don't get what "Natty" even means, but for some reason my mind seems to associate it with negative things (looks close to not or nitty?) I get it that Casascius, Lealana, etc are all made up names but they seem to flow off the tongue more easily.

natty1/ˈnati/
adjective
(of a person or an article of clothing) smart and fashionable.

natty2/ˈnati/
adjective
(among Rastafarians) denoting hair that is uncombed or matted, as in dreadlocks.

My money is on the first ?  ;D

It's a good question. I've had a natty based forum handle since 2004. It was originally because I used to drink way too much natural light beer. It has sinced evolved within myself as a state of mind and a affirmation of my online identity. Specifically NLC reflects my commitment to the digital currency movement. The NattyDreadOne, or Bob Marley, was quite outspoken against government corruption and false prophets. I believe in resisting against the corruptions of our time (our world banking system) and false prophets (attributing In God we trust to our monies) I believe in acknowledging interpretations of God through mathematics and technologies resulting in human generated proof. With proof, humans can absolutely trust. Thus my signature.

I digress. Mindtrip is also developing some addresses that may be intertwined in the collection or be used for follow on projects. Once we agree to the initial design, we owe the community a deployment strategy and funding plan.

PS i heard there's something coming up in July that may significant😜

62.5mm (2.5") 5oz silver is not going to be offered in this run. The examples will be either be 47mm or 39mm with potentially obscure (ie 2.1oz) amounts of platinum or silver. I spoke with the mint and was told a 39mm piece can only account for 1oz of silver and just under 2ozs of platinum. I'll be updating on this thread until the final design and deployment strategy is locked down. The. An [ANN] will be created.

I take this post humbly with your sincerity...but I see what you did there:D

Fact is, platinum and silver sell themselves, and any one can get a paper wallet for LTC/BTC for storage. What sells is integrity, quality, and design. I will never lose sleep over whether mindtrip and I can deliver, we always have. I've established a relationship with the mint that does the Pulitzer Prize. Then there's the design. I need [sic] you to love the design. Not like, but love the final design.

If I don't do that, then I've kinda failed. I'm betting on the love and I can't fucking wait to offer it to our community. If not, I'll take it on the chin, make 4 platinum’s and call it a day.

Peace. NLC

Hologram impressions forthcomng, about to give a TERRIBLE sketch to speghetti to get things moving: I think it will be equally as remarkable. Having my home girl focused on the front to submit to the mint this week.

UPDATE: It will be 47mm coin. Of the planned run, 4/10 platinum and 15/26 silver are spoken for.. This can be adjusted. Mindtrip and I plan to formalize the project to you good people tomorrow and I'll produce another thread and have this one closed.

Moderators, please lock this thread.

I appreciate all of the feedback I've received from this project; I'm really having a good time. While it probably should have been posted in a different arena, I thank the users for allowing me to communicate here. The details of the run will be provided in a week's time.

It's important for me to note that the majority of the people that want to buy this design on metal, are people who are not on this forum. This project has allowed my to communicate the principals of digital currency to people that would have otherwise been clueless. So I encourage you to please educate your co-workers, family, and friends about electronic currency.

NaTTyMiNd (http://imgur.com/VMvzSNI), the initial addition, is almost ready. And I hope you will love it.

I anticipate the coins will be available upon the BTC halving.

Peace, NLC

@OG Big ups to bigtimespheggeti for the hologram. I owe him some reps, that guy is solid human and great to communicate with. The hologram will flux in coloration and be even more admirable when it's produced. As soon as I get the "final design" from the mint, I'll purchase the holograms. I think they'll be sicker than the image provided. I just need to ensure the abstract is clearly legible (it is in the source). The abstract is why I hope most of us are here.

@Chron I'm really excited about the artist, she's just one of those people you have to love. "What do want?" "I want you to get sick with it." "Is this sick enough?". "Yes it is." Good talk.

Threefold, really, but I'm thinking the jeweller will be linchpin. If you go to the picture with keys on it you'll see a 00 in the center where the keys are, this is where the SN will reside. This number will coincide with the vanity address (thanks OGN!). You'll get a lovely baseball card from the mint as CoA. I don't have a grasp on the mint serializing the product yet.

In my mind there will be 50 examples of awesomeness. SN1 will be the hallmark with the original work f art, SN5 will be up for grabs, SN2-4 are accounted for [Platinum]. SN6-50 [Silver] will be equally beautiful.

The mint I initially went with is BANKRUPT. Sued for defamation to the tune of 10's of millions. Luckily I gave them zero dollars, zero cents. I've spoken with a two competing (non bankrupt) mints and moving forward with the mold and dies.  My only options now are 1oz or 5oz silver. If I go 5oz the piece will be more breathtaking, but I think the min run is 100. Jesus, this takes a long time.

Oh wow...very colorful hologram. nice :D
And glad to hear that you lost nothing on your old mint....that might have nixed the project :p

Another user here recently had no issue with that mint on a really big order. I had an interchange with him and he was surprised of the news! While they were my first choice, I feel purely confident about my second.

Thanks to Spaghetti setting up a good hologram supplier, Mindtrip and I have about 9 colorations to choose from. This one jumped out at me, there are examples that are more earthy.

We'll see. Just wanted to let folks know we have not forgotten the importance of trying to bring something great to great people!

Natty...does it matter if the wording on the holo isnt grammatically correct?  There are some sentences that dont make sense.  From the bottom half...some examples:

"The longest chain not serves as proof"

"but proof that it came the largest pool"

"they'll generate the gest chain"

"of CPU power,is controlled"

"proof0work chain"

There are likely others....

This looks incredibly nice. I'd be interested in an unfunded Silver one if you decide to go that route. Not super interested in any special number or anything like that, I'd just like to own a round with that design. Very nice job.

@bithalo.

Yes it matters to me greatly. The source was from the SNs abstract. I'll ensure its correct.

All unfunded except one.

Here's my last peep until the good stuff.

I would buy a 5 ounce silver coin, it would be cool if the premium wasn't too high

Really quite pretty. Do you know what the premium is going to end up at? I'm a traditional silver bullion guy so I cringe at the premiums that physical BTC hold, but I also deal in the collectors bullion market, so I'm at least a little understanding. I'd really like to order one, but I also know the costs associated with custom minting, so I'm a little bit afraid to hear your response.

Your coin sort of gives me a Libertad + Alice in Wonderland sort of vibe. I hope you are picking to do these in proof or reverse proof.

*edit* As a side note, even though I don't want a Platinum one, I'm incredibly impressed that you found a mint willing to do Platinum rounds. The machining costs are so high even big mints don't do much with Platinum. I fear what your response would be if I was to ask what the premium on those would be.

To be clear, this design will only be done in a limited 5oz Silver run (I know there's titling issues on some of the posts). The platinum hook-up fell through for this year. However, we have someone on deck for platinum next year...and an even a more unrealistic design in the queue. So ironic you brought up Alice in Wonderland, that was one of the three designs I had in mind that didn't make the cut for next year!!

The "Goddess" will be done in an antique finish as shown. The proof-like finish would dissolve the depth and detail.

EDIT: It's expensive to do this. I'm doing my best to drive the price point down. I'm still estimating .6 - .7 BTC. But the first two will be special and go to auction. So depending on how that goes, the price could be lower.

Just my opinion.... Bitcoin and Litecoin should not be together.....on the same coin....

The drawing is approx 24" with the frame it will be about 28" octogon. I just took custody of it, A lot larger than I thought it would be even though I've had been monitoring it. It's purely ridiculous. This will go with the first coin to auction and the second has something even better. If folks don't love the quality of work, well cut our losses and own something beautiful.

Michelle Diaz is credited, and rightfully so. However, she didn't sign it. The intent was that she is Liberty, or eletheria. So she signed the coin if that makes sense.

I miss spoke OGN, saw this as I was putting it away this morning on the back of the work.

https://imgur.com/a/zcqyx

It's signed on the back by Michelle. When the first two coins are available, she'll introduce herself on this forum (she's not really the forum type). Partial design cited as someone had to come up with the idea😜, but she, the graphic / vector designer and soon to be the sculpter (his name is fucking Luigi) are the true talent here.

Get ready for a sick coin, the first two in the run will be amongst us soon!

Hologram in production with different colors and correct scripture (not shown).

I have no clue, brother. It's 48mm and tamper evident. Mindtrip is receiving the sample from the supplier shortly. Then I'll see what we're dealing with. I'm hoping there's depth to that guy, but considering the price of the sculpt, we got a deal on the holos and really like the design.

Maybe this has been asked before...

Is there an ETA for the release and the number of coins that will be available?
Hopefully not too expensive (maybe too early to determine) and with the choice of having them funded or unfunded.

In the meantime I'll keep watching, really like the design.  :)

The first one will be available at the end of the month. The second one will be available in September, it's going to be nothing you've seen before. I'll poll too see what the QTY of the run will be. No more than 50. It could be 6 weeks thereafter, as I'll have to piggy back on silver procurement.

Unfunded. We may do something for SN 21 if we have some crypto lying around. 😀

Will announce when the mold is approved in the next week.

I'm really digging these last few teasers. The design + hologram are both unique in their own right.  I agree with SaltySpitoon, as a silver guy this coin would appeal to me provided the premium was not extraordinary. Looking forward to seeing your project become a reality so I can pick one up.

I have added this thread to my list to keep any eye on.
If some are available still, I am in for at least one. 2 depending on price.
I think the coin design is original, and a real statement piece. I want one :D
But it is the hologram proof that has done it for me.. Great job, NLC, mindtrip and bigtimespagetti.

Look forward to seeing the completed product.

A little too early. We have a ballpark reserve for the first two, so we'll let the community decide. If it's not met, then MT and I will just keep the pieces. This will have an impact on the price. I don't know the size of the run which will be be polled. I've got 50 BTC LTC addresses ready to go, so that's the max. Im aiming for .6-.7 BTC in a 50 coin run.

As previously stated were Not here to make money, Were here to not lose our ass and provide a superior product to the community.

That doesn't sound bad at all considering the spot price on 5 oz silver is over $100. Looking forward to seeing the final product!
