Title: is LISK a SCAM? Charles Hoskinson Opinion
Post by: DogeMajestic on April 14, 2016, 09:13:21 PM
Charles Hoskinson has recently debunked the WAVES ICO. I'm wondering what happens to be his opinion on LISK.

Mr. Hoskinson, I'd like to be asking you! could you please share your thoughts on the LISK decentralized platform? I don't have the impression that this is similar to the complete lack of anything as in Waves. LISK actually has a product, a very stable governance structure plus actual independent oversight of the project. They're also configured to do the things they have claimed, as far as I can judge this.

Erm, yeah.  Pretty much every coin that came out after bitcoin is just a vehicle to buy blowjobs for the devs.  So yeah I'd say Lisk is no different.

I have not invested much in LISK as i also doubt about their ICO sales as they haven't used any escrower to hold their funds and they haven't given us any working prototype till now even after months of end of ICO. Used their own ico site to get funds, all i sense is suspicious.

On this page is stated that an escrow is used? https://lisk.io/ico

No one knows exactly how much they raised. I think it was just a fraction of what was advertised.

I've been doing some diligence on this project and seeing if there is any overlap in my personal and my company's goals and LISKs. Max and Oliver seem to be nice guys. I haven't examined the code yet nor have a deep understanding of their goals, the protocol and the overall risks.

I can maybe add a little bit.  I have spoken with Max on a few occasions and he seems like a nice guy (as CH said).

As for the code, Max told me it is pretty much bitshares 1.0 with all the advantages and disadvantages this brings. They also apparently are planning for javascript to be a big part as well, which might prove pretty cool for connecting blockchains to web in a way that opens it up to more devs in the space. When I told him about Graphene he didn't know much about it (Graphene is essentially bitshares 2.0).

I hope this gives a little more insight.  I know it is not much but perhaps with a few more comments adding details that haven't been covered will give everyone a clearer picture. :)

btw, good to see you still nerding around in crypto Charles.  Hope all is well.

Do you really believe that LISK is scam? If that's the case then I should sell my LISK today, I am just a newbie in trading, I experimented yesterday, bought a little amount of LISK and I notice now that the price is decreasing.

I would like to thank you guys for the post, hope I made a research before I bought that coins. Anyways, does not hurt me much as I only bought equivalent to .01 BTC.

Damn it, I got excited when I buy it because of the hype think in this forum and also I was told in the chat that the value of lisk will rise the sooner so I tried to gamble for a little amount and now I just read in this forum that it is a scam.

Just to put a cap on this thread, in June 2016 Charles Hoskinson Joined the board of directors of LISK as a senior advisor.

In his own words:

“Whether it be Bitshares, Ethereum or Cardano, I only work with projects that satisfy three criteria”, said Hoskinson. “First, they have to promote a cascading disruption in an industry. Second, the technology has to be interesting. Third, the team has to be honest and hardworking. Lisk satisfies all three of these criteria and I am glad to be advising the team as they develop a vision and execute on a roadmap throughout the coming months and years.”

Lisk is not a scam, Crypti is!
And actually who is behind Lisk? its same dev from Crypti a failed project better to say.
It is quite disapponting to see how much delay lisk team makes in each changes, each fix and even how they fail to launch wallet after ICO on time after lots of postponds. I don't think it is a simply another scamcoin but holding lisk feels disapponinted.

What is disappointing for most people is because there is no price rise happening. Many claim to be supporters but all they do is complain about many things. But if you price is rising fast you will not here anything even if the project is late as long as they are making money holding the coin.

Lisk development has been ongoing and the dev providing weekly updates, expect price will definitely go up in the near future.

I have a slightly higher average price as you. The problem with Lisk is there is a threat from a whale maintaining the price below 50k satoshis. Everytime the price starts to go up and be above 50k satoshis the whale will put really big sell walls discouraging people from buying in on the rise. So most will dump and not return again. The motive of why the whale is still unknown.

I have read a lot about Lisk and i dont think its a scam, but on the other hand i am not sure that the project its on right track. I suppose things dont go the way it was meant, maybe i will buy if the price goes under 0,1 usd but just for speculation.

my vague understanding:

LSK is a spinoff of a failed ICO project (crypti?)
1 year later does it have any assets?
copy of NXT, a codebase which is already slated for non-development

correct?

yeah but with lisk you can mining(forging) and earn more coin if you are among the delaget, i don't remember such thing with nxt or crypti, but i could be wrong, but speaking about lisk future it doesn't look that good, the value is tanking too much and the coins seems to be died

I do not think they are. There is nothing that proves us that it is. Some people are guess that since there is nothing so it is a scam, but only the evidence that there is something wrong is much more the proof of this being a scam.
