Title: Unconfirmed transactions
Post by: Carmen on February 13, 2013, 01:09:03 PM
Hello,

Can someone help me with unconfirmed transactions. They have been sitting there for 3 days now and I'm not sure how to fix this or if it is a problem at all.

I'm not sure what you are asking for.

The Transaction ID, so I can look up you Transaction on the Network an maybe figure out what is wrong.

You get it when you double click on the Transaction.

The previous one was the first transaction this one is the second one. Both of these came from coinad.

OK, that simplifies it. There is nothing you can do. Just wait.

I thought you where talking about sent transactions.

There is a (very small) possibility this might never confirm.

Will it hold up all future transactions if it does not confirm? Or should I try to force by adding a bunch of small ones? Is that possible or will it glitch everything from here on out?

Nothing was stolen from you.  You've encountered a delay in receiving your funds.  Post your issue in the Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=128314.0) as Akka has already suggested (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=143790.msg1524508#msg1524508) once, and the support personnel at BitInstant will resolve your issue for you.  Provide them with your OrderID so they can identify the problem:

I'm getting "transaction not found" when I look for  http://blockchain.info/tx/88eb395b48a6d3875d8d55a6efd34afd2e1d4e397b43f9f790479914fba0c74b

Was there a double-spend on this initial transaction?  Wow, that would be quite a mess for a lot of people.

So does that mean the payment sent to me is not even real?

No. Just that the software that runs at blockchain.info has decided that the transaction isn't worth showing on the website any longer. If a miner includes it in a block it will show up again in blockchain.info.

Ok, so blockchain.info just dropped all these transactions from their memory pool. That's better. So we are still waiting for the initial transaction to make it into a block.
If another nodes relays us the transaction again it will reappear on the site but for now it has been removed from the memory pool as it seems unlikely it will confirm.
I suspect there are a lot of people hoping that it will confirm.  I believe coinbase.com has even paid a miner a bounty to confirm it:

Luke-Jr was kind enough to starting mining it for us (we sent him a bounty).  Hopefully it should be cleared up soon.

I believe that both of these transactions have now confirmed.  However, I see your address listed in the outputs of the following transaction. This transaction will never confirm.  It is a failed double-spend attempt:

Yes they have both confirmed and I wish to thank everyone who has helped get this issue fixed. I have no idea what that other transaction is for. I have not yet spent any of my bitcoins so it was not from me. And I do not see it listed in my transactions that I know of. So what happens to it and will it haunt me if I do try to spend my coins?

It is a payout that you received from CoinAd.  If you had spent it while the other transaction was unconfirmed, it would probably have caused you some issues.  Since you haven't spent it yet, and it is now recognized as a failed double-spend, your wallet will no longer recognize it.  It shouldn't cause you any further issues. If you were expecting or waiting for that particular payment from CoinAd you'll never receive it.  You would need them to resend that payout to you using some other input in their transaction.

Thank you so so much for your help. I did not see that transaction at all. Is there a way that I can check for myself to make sure that when I do go to spend my coins that there is not something else lurking and waiting to trip me up?

Five Stars ***** to you for all your help.
