Another black eye for blackberry so much for them being able to turn the ship around and become relevant again.
The truth is all of these companies to do business allow these types of backdoors,read this a well back and for some reason its kind of talked about like it may be the case,it is the case!

i guess that is their end.

The main selling feature was encryption for them,so its a pretty good nail in the coffin.
Kind of sad,I know a guy that wants to retire that heavily invested in RIM because his brother was working for them and promised they where about to fly. Sure a lot of Canadians have them in their portfolios just hoping they return to even for them to drop the stock.

You can bet most of the "Five Eyes" countries had this sort of access to supposedly totally encrypted communications, BlackBerry made a deal to get into the Indian market as well. They did lead in security for a long time, it was their ultimate selling point and it looks like Apple is trying to walk that path now.

Apple will never be transparent enough for my likings,need some cell phone almost made with bitcoiners in mind. Would be awesome to have a phone set up that you could make sure had no fishy stuff going on.

It seems as if Apple is refusing to put in backdoors which is why they were in a very public court battle against the FBI a few weeks ago!

Who knows, maybe they gave it already and now they just make mask for that. Don't believe in anything they say.

Yeah it's definitely true. Even Edward Snowden was mentioning that the NSA already has full access.

I am not too surprised but disgusted the RCMP would do this.
I get they need to do their investigations but law requires getting warrants etc.
That is like getting a warrant for every person in Canada but a dozen guys are being investigated.

I also had heard a couple years ago a News Story about how the RCMP / CSIS
has implemented spying in public places for phones / WIFI in places such as Airports
..on behalf of the request of the USA.

Well that seems plausible but which Countries are we talking about that do not spy on their people?
The chances that you find one are slim and when you do they are most likely a small Country,meaning that their bigger neighbor is spying for them.
Would love to see a list of the top ten or five places to live for personal freedom. Not even sure who would be on that list.

This has already been going on with every platform, Apple has had a ton of press on this in the past few weeks. I'm not sure where "You're next apple" is coming from.

I disagree with all of this, but at the same time, I have a completely different theory as to what privacy truly is.  If you are texting something to someone, you need to understand that this may be seen by a third party.   

Agree but why cant we have this privacy without some one exploiting loopholes to make us naked time after time?

Kind of, if you are connected to the web the answer is no though. 

IN a faraday cage, no web connection one could do stuff with out the world knowing. This is how one should create bitcoin wallets... and then destroy the computer on which your passphrase was written.


If you wanted to send a message you could get a sha-256 encryption program, run it on an offline computer, burn the message to a CD and then send the message on your online PC.  Other person would need to decrypt on an offline comp or your passphrase is compromised.


Easiest way to think about it: if you are connect to the web the gov and hackers are watching everything you type/create and copying it to their servers.

That and the micro chips in the toothpaste and cameras in your underwear drawer. There's no getting away from the go'erment. They want our precious metadata, so they can sell it to apps then they can ask for permissions for 'Camera' so they can spy on us more. It's all in front of us people... Open your eyes!
