Title: Legendary Member??
Post by: bitkilo on April 16, 2016, 07:46:51 AM
Could someone explain to me why this member has the rank of legendary while only having 287 activity.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=62794

He has been a member since 2012 and i remember reading somewhere that activity goes down when a member is not active for some time, does rank stay or drop with activity points?

I think once a member reaches legendary, he stays there despite the activity drops

You could be right but thats a lot of activity drop from legendary.
Legendary rank has not even been around for a long time.

An effort has been made to remove all old posts associated with the user.
The only posts which are remaining are the topics which he started and cannot delete. Even these have been edited fully.

I don't know the history behind this user, can you fill me in as to why his old posts are being deleted?

Probably all the posts which are kept are in Altcoins section.Maybe he was posting alternative crypto currencies related updates in regular bitcoins section.Or maybe there was no Altcoin section before.Just a wild guess.

activity not drops for inactivity, just for post deletion, and only if does not remain none post in 14 day period,
For every well "cleaned" period you lose 14 activity point.

Nothing of special, it's just a user who deleted his post for some personal reasons. However it is obvious he will lose his rank in the next days/weeks and he will be able to gain it again (he should only start to post normally).

yeah that is another rankins system for them, but as for losing activity there is nothing mentioned in this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0 so i doubt if it is true, it must be arumour ;)

also satoshi's activity has been 364 forever and he has been inactive for 6 years https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3

My guess is that he sold the account and deleted his posts as part of the deal. I can not imagine any other reason to delete years worth of posts.

He could be trying to cover up some kind of evidence, potentially about some kind of scam and/or evidence of his identity (likely because he scammed some large amount). I believe that a fairly decent number of scammers have done this in the past.

Think it might be because of activity:rank drastic changes.(@QS) Think there was a post by BB or theymos stating the same, that Brand new to newbie(or the other way around)  and legends have that issue (right?). I'll see if I can find it

Why do you think always to the scam possibility ? What if he only wanted to delete his posts for other reasons (like more privacy).
