Title: 5 BTC Bounty to mine these two transactions for Coinbase
Post by: brian_armstrong on February 14, 2013, 02:15:05 AM

These two transactions accidentally got into our hot wallet and are holding up some transactions in an unconfirmed chain.  They don't have sufficient fees to be included in the normal mining, but we'll pay 5 BTC to someone who can get these mined in a block (along with any other transactions you are already hashing).

Luke-Jr is already working on mining them, but we would like to add some more CPU power to it.  The bug which caused them to enter the hot wallet in the first place has now been fixed.

Thank you for the help!

Thank you, Brian!  Appreciating Coinbase's attention to getting this moved on through.

Miners can help this get through by using sendrawtransaction (to add it to their memorypool) and my prioritisetransaction JSON-RPC method (not yet mainline) (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/1583).
Alternatively, you could just mine on the Eligius mining pool (http://eligius.st).

Well, thanks for taking care of this  ;)

It looks like both transactions have been included in block 221131 (http://blockchain.info/block-index/348377).

Has the bounty been paid?

Looks like Eligius did it.

Perhaps Coinbase should consider an ongoing offer of a small amount of btc to any mining pool that agrees to take all their transactions, fees or not.

I really hope you guys can figure this out... Having coins in limbo not cool...  >:(

I don't see an issue with that one. It is confirmed already.  What are you asking for?

Coinbase

blockchain.info now shows these transactions with 23 confirmations, but coinbase still shows them with 0.

Earlier this morning blockchain did not show any confirmations. now it does. Coinbase is still showing 0 confirmations.

Yep, Luke Jr got it mined - and the bounty has been paid out.

We are now showing confirmations on it:

Thanks for all the help in this thread.  In the future obviously this should not happen, so apologies for the bug on our end.  We would definitely love to see an option down the road where miners could opt in to mining some particular tx.  Would be interesting to see a market develop for that.

Anyway, big thanks!

Thanks, Brian.  Made for some excitement.  We don't have enough of that around here. :)
