Title: It looks like the community is supporting Bitcoin
Post by: ijphlrnxewho on April 20, 2016, 05:51:26 AM
Many claimed Bitcoin is dead. It looks like the community is supporting Bitcoin.
Final verdict: Bitcoin is here to stay and prosper. It's safe for you to keep on hoarding up Bitcoin!

Not that great of an article. I'd like to get an article out about how Bitcoin can help us not depend on banks. People need to get the "Bitcoin is used for crime" and the "Bitcoin is dead" and the "blockchain is the only useful thing about Bitcoin" out of their heads, and see that the real value in Bitcoin is that you own and control your own money and don't depend on banks.
And then yes, people will see that there is a true need for Bitcoin, more than buying gift cards or stuff on Overstock.

I've always assumed the nay-sayers are either late adopters or government shills trying to manipulate progress.

Doesn't help we've got plebs like Andresen and Heard muddying the waters....

It's still good for publicity, it's on Yahoo.

Even Warren Buffet said peeps should stay away from btc. Yet here it is still fighting.

They keep saying stay away to bitcoin and they didnt realize they can earn more nd more if they continue to stake with bitcoin. And see what bitcoin gots know it has big price noe and many people using and staking for it also it is slowly catches the eye of big investors and online store and hopefully they wilk accept as their payment processors.

They always claim bitcoin is dead convincing themselves btc isn't going to work after they lose thousands.
but yeah bitcoin is here to stay. and certainly more alt coins are going to be created if they see bitcoin is going to fail. hows that?
but if they really think bitcoin is dead, they can just invest to some other coins.

Yeah what the heck does he mean by real people? Aren't we all real people around here? Looks like he is talking crap out of his butt to besmear Bitcoin without paying attention that there are a lot of people who use it on a daily basis and do business online. I don't understand why he doesn't just keep his nose in his own company and stop talking about everyone else lol.

I have never had any doubts about the future of Bitcoin and I will keep supporting Bitcoin and hoarding as many coins as I can.

It's again one of those articles that keeps on saying BTCitcoin is dead and on the other hand blockchain is great. The funny thing is, many have tried to damage what BTCitcoin is built for, just so for their own benefit (today is Taavet Hinrikus and tomorrow is someone else from those kind of industries), but at the end of the day, none of them have managed to surplus BTCitcoin and their stuck in the shadows (for the years to come).

I have seen such statemens "Bitcoin is dead and on the other hand blockchain is great" many times, yet there is nothing better than Bitcoin in term of useability for normal people. So good luck for the Bitcoin haters making something useable using blockchain tech (contracts or whatever) without Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is dead? well, it's normal. We don't have to worry about this, it's not unusual to happen.

Anything on Yahoo news is not taken seriously by the tech enthusiast but it does get the spotlight on bitcoin for the people who have it set to their homepage.
It is publicity so you know it is agreed that it is here to stay and enough of the "is it dead yet?" comments when it comes to it's longevity.  ;)

Don't worry bro. As like every new technology there is people to accept and oppose that. Even same like some people you can find in btctalk like that so don't care about them bro.

It's true, they also have their own opinions and agenda.
But, still, yahoo website is very popular and any news about bitcoin is good news for us because people will read it and maybe become curious.
Finally, we, bitcoin users, creating future of bitcoin, not media or somebody else.

Obviously we know it's not dead yet, but I don't think bitcoin is making the financial news daily like it did back in 2013.  I could be wrong, as I'm not a big news buff.  Right now any news that gets mainstream attention is good.

this is nothing new, although it is nice to see yahoo finances talking about this with an article but the bitcoin community have never stopped supporting bitcoin so far.
and every time the news about bitcoin death was a scam attempt to lower the price by creating a little panic.

The head of a company threatened by bitcoin as a competitor says bitcoin is dead. Meanwhile bitcoin jumps another $5 up. I have a lot of complaints about a lot of the media, but Yahoo news tends to be especially stupid in my experience. (Another Yahoo news article had a "journalist" suggesting that bitcoin would die because of a single hacking/theft incident. Because, you know, every time there's a bank robbery it calls into question whether fiat currency can survive.  :-\)

It's weird how people here assume that everyone wants to be his own bank.
How about being your own plumber? your own butcher? your own garbage man? your own tailor? your own brain surgeon?
Think of the money you'll save! The material of a bespoke Italian suit that cost you 6 grand is probably $200 at most! And if you're your own weaver, that $200 fabric will cost you $50 in thread!

Hi,

Bitcoin, as a technology, has the same appeal (among many other uses): instant transfers and tiny fees, circumventing big, expensive, sluggish banks or wire services.
An article can't just make very active BTC community dead. :)

Thank you

Self-reliance is good character trait to cultivate. To answer your questions.... I do most of my own plumbing. Last Saturday I butchered one of my goats. I cut my garbage service last month (at least until unburnable refuse accumulates and/or wet weather intervenes next winter), my wife and daughters are developing their tailoring skills. I'll admit I'm taking a pass on the brain surgeon thing, though our four kids were all born at home.

In a world where people can't change their own oil or mow their own lawn competently any more, developing good hands-on skills provides many benefits both in life satisfaction and in competency to take on new tasks, whether in your occupation or avocationally. That would apply to banking and investing as well.

There's your problem right there. You think people don't change their own oil because they can't. I'm here to tell you (as someone who has restored many cars, frame-up, doing everything from machine work to upholstery myself) that I don't change my own oil (in the daily beater) *because I do not want to*. I'd rather spend my time doing something I like to do. Just like a surgeon might want to spend his time on something other than his plumbing.
See?

Edit: That's what living in a *society* is all about. You don't *have* to shoe your own horse, you can go to the village blacksmith, who is set up for such thing & does it better & faster. In exchange, he will come to you when he needs his plumbing done, because you're better at plumbing.
Everyone wins :)
P.S. Not sure how to interpret your sig in light of you being on a money changer forum.

Exactly such trustful supporting were the cause to reach such a large number of users as well grow high in a very short time though many indicated bitcoin to be dead as well its close to the days of dying.

There was no chance of Bitcoin dying at all, there was a point where the community was demoralized because of the low value after the massive manipulation coming out of Mt.Gox, but this value seems to be relatively organic and natural, so it all seems good and it looks like everything will be fine with Bitcoin over the next few months.

Bitcoin never truly dies.
