Post by: MathiasPetit on April 24, 2016, 09:22:10 PM
Should you recommend solo mining or pool mining?

atm i did use coinotron, ethpool, nanopool with ethminer and qtminer but my in console speed per sec is 88 mhs but in pool statistic its only 70+-

100mh and up, solo. Just need to be patient, but you'll always come out ahead of pool mining.

i usually do in this way when it come to this choice, if you can mine 1 block every day at max i would go with solo but...

only if you don't need to switch frequently to other coins because you need more profit

and only if i know that the coin is stable and not gonna be dumped early

otherwise the best thing to do is mining in solo only with very low diff, usually when you have 1/10 of the network at worst

I have 2 rigs which issue 140 mh. And I do not even think about it. If you manage to find a unit that will not be soon .

I get 1.7eth day . To see if I can find one block , I will need to work out 3 days . Waiting for a miracle , and not the fact that I 'll find something for 3 days .

Nice question you have here and I like some comments. Prelude gave nice answer, its all about patience in the end.
I wonder which coins are good for solo mining, what you think guy`s? Is it better to try some well know coin or to try with some new coin?
I`m sure both have risks, but I would like to hear your opinion. I think about myself as amateur in mining. Thanks in advance.

In my opinion solo mining is not profitable... also it depends on the block time, block size and all that kind of things but, anyways, mining in a pool is better

i also agree mining with the pool might be much profitable sir, you can at least have a better chances to get a block instead of solo mining will take a week and a really really good luck to have one.

When the difficulty is not rising, it is better to solo mine. If the difficulty rises very fast like the Etheruem, it is better to pool mine.

I will also go with this answer there is no point to wait for weeks to get payment for getting greedy of 1% pool fee. Its better to take payments in fraction daily than geting some after a week of mining. Its also better to pay for your running cost like electricity and rent.

I started Solo mining in October with 40-60 mh/s.  I would find a block every 1-3 days.

Now I have about 380 mh/s.

The best I've found so far was 2 blocks in 1 days.

The worst so far was not finding a block in 6 days.

I think the VMware ESXI host may be interfering with my geth server.

I notice on a standalone - physical server, I receive blocks more frequently.

Solomining requires a high level of patience and experience.  If you are a noobie, I do not recommend you do it.

there are coin where solo mining is mandatory, see spreadcoin, you can find block regularly there, in any other case i solo mining only at the beginning if pool is not ready yet, or there is very low hashrate

That is right. When the difficulty is rising too fast, with solo mining, you will find fewer blocks now and even less in the future.
