So your point is Eth mining gear i.e.  GPU/PC   gets built and sold by real sellers.

Yes that is my point.

My PC has two powercolor cards.   R9 390

Cost would have been  628  but due to Amazon's error cost was 314.  They will have a  3 year warranty.

I grabbed a windows 7 osx  for 40 bucks.

I grabbed a new mobo for 80 bucks

I had all other parts.

SSD

CPU cooler

Case.

CPU.

So I now have a intel 3500k cpu

2 power color cards

a 500 gb ssd

in a case  with this fan for intake and exhaust

http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-Cooler-Computer-Cooling-FHP-141/dp/B00A460TK6?

on high setting I can run the 2 cards over clocked and the case stays cool.

nice gif.   the box arrived an hour ago I will take a look at the gear in a bit of time.

i'm not worried at all ethereum is just one of the many coin that will be and that were profitable, many other will come

it's not like ethereum was the first proftiable coin(not even the best one actually) and it will not be the last one either....

the reason is pretty simple if you do smart builds you still have a pc.

long warranty on the gear.

you can turn it off if eth coin is bad and look for a new coin.

When I started back up I had 1 hd7970 and i mined  at 0 start up cost.

If all gpu coins stop working I will set down the pc's until a new one comes along.

Meanwhile I now have 3 rigs using 4 r9 390's  1 r9 380 and that hd7970.

my cost was.  800 + 190 + 80 + 40 = 1110

I can do 160 mh

granted I got a card for free due to amazon screwing up the delivery.  So my cost would be 1420  .  I had a lot of parts on hand.

but I now have 3 high quality pc's.  I have earned back quite a bit of the outlay.

So no complaints.

Besides Bitcoin itself, ETH was the 2nd most profitable. Third was LTC.

I think it will be a while before another new coin reaches the Billion dollar market cap.

Its usually best to sell the GPUs, buy some ASICS, and buy back the GPUS like in a year or two when sometimes pops up.

you could be correct as to selling the gpus.

time will tell what I do with these machines

It's always interesting to hear what people plan to mine after ethereum.  It seems like lots of neat coins to mine. Decred, expanse, spread...

I love Amazon, I built 6 rigs last month. all are 6 GPU's each, running R9 380's that cost me just under $200 a card. Like the OP said something else will come along in time. ETH is still profitable, I have 800+ MH/s and can SSH in and change the miner easily enough. Dual mining is catching on too. You can mine Decred and ETH concurrently. Question is should I build out the other 5 rigs I have custom frames for?

Right now probably not a good idea.

Only way you will make money is if ETH increases in value, but in this scenario you might as well buy the coin instead.

not for me, i had more profit with coin with a lower market cap, it's all about when you get in on those coin, if you get early you make a kill streak, if you get later only peanuts will remain

i'ts just a gamble and heavy speculation

Im not referring to those ninja instamine and pump and dump scams which make your GPU profitable for like 12 hours.

I am referring to long term (3+ months). Between LTC and ETH, what other coin was profitable long term? None.

But it is very difficult to predict which coin has future or when it will be pumped. What are you mining now?

all altcoin are pump and dump scam, eth was dumped by vitalik, i would not call any of them long term

besides this i see all the alt as one big alt that is give you a long term profit, does not matter if it is instamined, early mined or whatever, only the profit matter in the end

I don't think it was dumped. He just wanted to take some profit.

I just heard about ZCash, will its altgorithm be GPU friendly? I am thinking of days after the Ethereum.

I think this is another example why USPS is losing so much money and I hate it when Amazon ships crap through them.

I just got something Via USPS today from Amazon.

Shipped on 19th, Picked up by USPS on 19th.

Sat in USPS Warehouse in IL for 7 days before it was shipped to me, then took another 3 days.

All for 2 items the size of 2 USB Flash drives...

Mega Fail in my book.

Post office has slowly become worse over the last 10 years.

I sold a few thousand items on ebay this site and some Mac mini sites.

Post office was my goto shipper.

Not anymore.

Prices went up  service went down.  I used to be able to ship an Intel CPU in a small flat rate box with tracking  to more then 200 countries for 12.95.

Now it is 24.95 ships slower and both tracking and insurance are more $$.
