Yep! Multiplayer Texas Hold'em is in the works as well as pig and sheep racing (much like horse racing).

A jukebox will be added where you can play a record for a small fee :)

Also lounge items such as seats / drinks / fireworks etc

Our server was having some problems. No money was lost, it was just unable to connect to display your balance so it came up as 0

If you still have problems let me know!

One thing that occurred to me about the provable fairness:

For roulette, minefield, and pig racing, there's no such thing as a "bad deal" for the player.  You pick the result in advance, publish the hash, and the user can verify after the event that you chose the result before they bet, so you can't be cheating.  (Well, if a player is playing red over and over again you could deliberately pick black over and over, and publish a hash of you picking black before the player places his bet).

With blackjack however, there is such a thing as a "bad deal".  When you're playing against a single player you can deliberately pick shuffles which give the dealer blackjack more often than he should.

The way most provably fair blackjack sites (all 2 of them?) work is that they allow the player to provide part of the random seed, publish the server half of the random seed before the game, and publish the shuffle algorithm.  That way the casino has no way of picking preferable shuffles.  bitZino has this great writeup (https://bitzino.com/about/fair) about how it works.

Currently your blackjack doesn't appear to be provably fair.  All you seem to be proving is that you picked the (possibly rigged) deck before the players played, rather than during or after.

Comments?

I think minefield can be a bad deal through. Humans are pretty bad at generating randomness, and some grids would be dug more often than others. The operator could weigh the mines to those grids more, giving them a higher house edge.

In fact this could be tailored to the player since it is a one player game - store a record of their grid digs, and personalize it individually.

Yes.  The same goes for pig racing and roulette too.  Some players will tend to bet more on long-odds pigs, others will more often back the favourites.  Some players favour red, some always bet on zero, etc.  But if the player plays randomly, there's no "bad deal".  In blackjack there is.

Yes I have a few people bring this up. I am working on a new provably fair system using seeds generated by the players.

Here's my idea. Inspired by the bitZino double shuffle.

1) BitVegas shuffles the deck and supplies the hashed result.
2) Players place their bets
3) When the betting closes. All the X,Y,Z locations of the players with active bets are grabbed and added together to determine a new seed.
4) That seed is used to reshuffle the deck
5) The deck is used and the game is played.

Players will be able to see all the X,Y,Z positions on the verify page and confirm they were real. (You can see your position ingame on the client by pressing F3).
They will also be able to see that the seed was really used to reshuffle the deck and nothing else.

Let me know what you think and I will implement it. Or if it needs any changes.

I have to do things a little differently here as I have multiple players betting on one 'deck'.

Edit: I created this with bacon racing and roulette in mind. I just realized it won't work with blackjack as you are sitting and your position does not change. Back to the drawing board!
I could use the players YAW position (Seen by pressing F3 in-game and looking at the value) 'f'. This is the exact direction the player is facing and players can confirm it

I would rather it was something that I can confirm for all players.  For example, if you take the last thing said by each player who bet, and show that on the webpage, I can check that you have the right thing for all players.

If a player hasn't spoken, use the empty string for them.  Then I can say "go number 3!" before the off, and actually have it influence the outcome.  If a player doesn't care to change their seed (by talking) they don't have to, and they contribute the same to the seed for each event until they happen to speak.  Just a simple sha256(player1string|player2string|...) would do for the 'client(s)' seed.

What do you think?

Title: Re: Minecraft BitVegas. UPDATE: PIG RACING released!
Post by: BitVegas on February 28, 2013, 03:40:26 AM
That is a good idea. With blackjack the initial shuffle is done upon the first placed bet and the last shuffle will need to be done when the round starts. This only gives a 5 second window to set your client seed by chatting. Unless i grab the last string the player said even if it was before they joined the round. (Maybe if they spoke in the last two minutes so it's still easy to scroll up on the client and see it)

Or if no string is said by the player i could maybe use the players name instead

I was thinking just keep a record of the last thing each person said.  Perhaps resetting it to their name when they log in to the server.

Ok. What about if a player has not spoke in an hour. Should i have a cut off time back to a blank string / their name?

No, why? A user can use the same seed if they feel lucky or whatever. It just needs to be really provably fair and everyone can verify.

Yeah the only reason I said this is because after an hour it will be hard for the players to see if the player really said that. The chat log in minecraft only scrolls up so high.

Yeah the only reason I said this is because after an hour it will be hard for the players to see if the player really said that. The chat log in minecraft only scrolls up so high.

After an hour it's relatively easy to look back and see what phrase was used for the last game, check that it's the same if the user hasn't spoken since.  It's hard to be sure that it's been exactly an hour since he spoke, and that you didn't wipe his string early because it game you a better shuffle.  But I see what you mean for the player's first game at the table.

If I'm sat playing blackjack and a guy I never saw before comes and sits down, and happens to be using a sentence I never saw him say (because he joined and spoke before me) then that's not "provable" for me.  I guess you'll want to initialise his string to his name each time he bets without having bet recently, or each time he switches games or tables?  It's not as straightforwards as you might think is it!

The new provably fair system is now up for your testing on BlackJack.

It will be added to the other games over the next few days.

We have also added in Jackpots for Minefield

This is a great idea. I dont think I'll risk any actual btc on it, due to the fairness not being proven, but it stills works great.

Suggestion:

Add 0.0005 and 0.0001 chips.  Then people get to play at least 10 times with their free 0.001 chip every 15 minutes.

Currently lots of people are playing playmoney, presumably because they lost their free chip the first time they bet it, and have to wait 15 minutes to play again for free.

OK, they should deposit, but lots probably won't.  It's better for the site to have people playing for microstakes than for playmoney I would think.

When I increase my bet on roulette:

"you added 0.001 BTC to your bet on RED"

I'd prefer to see the new total, not the increment.  Like this:

"you increased your bet on RED to 0.003 BTC"

I know this has been mentioned before, but is there anything you can do to stop people standing in front of blackjack players?

I'm frozen in place since I'm sat down, so when someone stands in front of me I can't see my cards.

In the minefield game, if I want to bet 0.002 BTC, I put a 0.001 chip in my hand and click the betting box twice.  After the first click my chip is replaced by a shovel, and I have to find the 0.001 chip in my inventory because it has moved.  It's kind of annoying.

3 issues:

1) When you double 11 and get to 21, it doesn't show 'double'; it shows 'stand' instead.  Only if you get to 21 though.

2) I have 0.001 BTC, but can't bet on anything:

https://i.imgur.com/x7qykdZ.png

I guess I really have slightly less than 0.001 BTC.  Maybe have some way for me to find out my real balance.  When I win 0.0001 BTC on minefield, am I really winning something less exact, but you're not showing the fractions?  Or do you round my balance down too?

3) Are you still paying out Bitcoins in exchange for payout bugs?  I found a bug that causes the casino to pay out too much.

Title: Re: Minecraft BitVegas. UPDATE: Earn FREE bitcoins just for being online!
Post by: 🏰 TradeFortress 🏰 on March 09, 2013, 05:11:21 AM
I asked about 2) before and it's that the coins are rounded, so you don't actually have 0.001 btc

Title: Re: Minecraft BitVegas. UPDATE: Earn FREE bitcoins just for being online!
Post by: dooglus on March 11, 2013, 10:10:22 AM
Another rounding issue.  I put 0.001 BTC down in the 5-mine game and was told my first dig would be worth 0.0002 BTC.  I dug once, and took my winnings.  My balance went up from 0.0034 to 0.0035, so my first dig must have been worth less than I was told it would be:

https://i.imgur.com/9GVmISP.png

When I play for a whole bitcoin play money, I'm told the first dig is worth 0.16 BTC, so I guess the first dig above was really worth 0.00016 BTC, not the 0.0002 I was told it was worth.

https://i.imgur.com/x1hvei8.png

If you're going to round, you should never promise the play more than you're going to pay him.  I think I've reported a similar bug before, with the pig racing.

Hey everyone.

Update today:
  • Whenever BTC is displayed. It is rounded down. You should now see more accurate readings.
  • The deposit and withdraw system is back to 100% functionality. Deposits now instant again
  • The minimum withdrawal is now 0.005 BTC
  • Inventory is no longer reset when you relog. (Currently there is a bug where it gives you another help book everytime you log on)
  • Poker has reopened. There is a few bugs. Many of them are already fixed I just haven't pushed the next version up yet. Have fun testing!

Minecraft 1.5 was released. Please do not update if you still want to connect to the server. If you did update, you will need to downgrade. (http://mcvc.in/ is a good trusted way to do this)
I will be updating to Minecraft 1.5 when a stable version of Bukkit is released.
There is some very exciting stuff coming with this version which, if everything goes to plan, will include:
  • Your BTC always displayed on screen. (And any other text games need to display)
  • Names over the pigs heads.
  • HD textures and fonts (Where needed).
  • Animated textures if needed.

Glad it worked out! We have had some small updates recently.
- Showing balance on screen
- Showing time left for bets open for certain games

While playing blackjack for playmoney, my balance sometimes goes down when I bet, and sometimes doesn't.  Sometimes it stays the same until the hand is over, and only then updates.

I think it has something to do with the way he set up updating of the scoreboard. It updates on a time interval, or when /BTC is done by the client or the server. If you play, and then the time interval hits, it says, oh you don't have these coins because you're betting them. But if it doesn't update, then it just waits until its supposed to display your balance again (when the round is over).

Also, I've been having great roulette luck lately, lol.

Yeah.  Maybe that's the only way you can do it, I don't know.  But it would seem to make more sense to update the scoreboard when the score changes, not on a time interval.

So, people on the server just pushed the Lottery Chicken out of the edge of the world, since someone left the door open. It didn't respawn after falling and instead kept falling and falling, so it's presumably in Purgatory (until the admin comes around, at least). ;D

Murder, I tried to withdraw 5 btc and it wouldn't let me. So I withdrew 4.56, which was your full wallet balance, and now I have .44 still sitting in there unavailable for withdraw. It won't let me withdraw anymore, so I'm assuming nobody else can either. Please refill it. I don't blame you for it because I withdrew a lot today, but if you could take care of it I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

He refilled it, owner is very nice to talk to and very pleasant. I left ahead so I couldn't give a better reveiew for bitvegas. The social aspect is the best part imo

It's been empty ever since the new map. Moida blames lack of ads, I blame the bigger casino. The first map was the best map. Also, the server wasn't really hacked, it was an simple exploit that should've been fixed.

I didn't really like the new big map. It is pretty confusing, and it takes a while to go where you want. I liked the older map better, since you can find the game you want to play pretty easily.

Guest play was disabled because we can't push server textures due to Mojang screwing that up somehow. When this is fixed, we will re-enable the guest feature.

Why's playing with free BTC bad? Some people earned it by referring others.

I'd love to implement this for an altcoin. Along with have said alt coin become the currency of said server.

Nobody has the script. If I had it I would bring up a new Casino it right away, but the owner did everything by himself and never released anything.
