Bitcoin Core Dev Gavin Anderson’s GitHub Commit Access Removed

Citing fears of a hack that may have resulted in an account compromise, Bitcoin Core members have revoked the commit access belonging to Bitcoin Core developer Gavin Andersen.

Wow, that's crazy. Gavin, can you comment on this? Why does the dev team think this?

Wow, that's crazy.

No it isn't, it's now in 2016 entirely expected behaviour from both Andresen (reckless and self-promoting) and Core team (cautious and considered)

They clearly state that it is because the account is suspected of being compromised and not the reasons you mentioned.

Well, the core team needs to work on a way to prevent a future hack...

So does this mean he did not really say that he believed Wright is Satoshi and that it is a hacker that did instead?

They expressed no surprise, all that happened was that Andresen's key was revoked, and questions where asked about how this situation could occur. You're forgetting that the Core team know it's most sensible to get rid of Andresen with as little political turmoil as possible, as political turmoil follows Andresen around like a bad smell. So using a diplomatic opportunity to remove him from important access to the project repo is going to be a massive relief to the Core team, who want Gavin's insidious influence as effectively neutered as possible. Why not, Gavin Andresen led 2 separate attempts to remove the team that have contributed the most valuable improvements to the software running the network, all to pursue a reckless plan that would have seen us on 20MB blocks right now. Bitcoin would have ended for so many if hadn't been for everyone resisting his suicidal non-plans.

Let's be realistic here... If Gavin's commit access are compromised in any way, it should be investigated. They can always give him access again.. if they think he pose no risk to Bitcoin. We have the

wealth of millions of people stored in Bitcoin... Why put that at risk, if there are any reason why his access can be used to harm Bitcoin in any way? Be over cautious and check the facts and then give

him access again, if needs be. We revoke access to admins every day, if we think they are compromised... Why should Bitcoin be any different? This should not be made into any sinister plot, but

rather attributed to a possible over reaction from the Core Dev's in reaction to a possible threat.  ???

Gavin is a gullible milquetoast that shouldn't be contributing to the core code anymore.

I wish I was kidding, but his past track record of teaming up with questionable people (Like Mike Hearn) following decisions about Bitcoin that are antipodal to the intent of the network (mega-blocks irrespective of the security/abuse potential) makes me think he just doesn't have his head on right.

The final blow was his gullibility in believing a con-man that clearly didn't have the proper proof that he was the real Satoshi. Gavin even had a LIST OF REQUIREMENTS that he totally IGNORED when he blogged about Mr. Wright's claim. I'm sorry, but if Gavin can't even suss out some well-constructed con, how the hell is he going to differentiate between code that is good for Bitcoin or intended as a government back-dooring attempt to screw the network?

I cast a vote of "no confidence" in Gavin, as should others who value the future of Bitcoin in general.
