I still have unspent a Starbux $10 gift card that I purchased with bitcoins, paying 50 BTC for it (back when they were trading at under $0.25 per BTC).

There are a few people who paid for ASIC hardware back when BTC/USD was about $6 and are still waiting, with regrets.

I guess the most expensive single item Ive purchased was a SSD harddrive 12btc (~200$ at the time), other things I've spent on are bitcoin t-shirts, gambling sites, hosting and casascius coins.

I had to buy darn dollars on few occasions... Must have spent a couple of thousands of coins altogether (the price wasn't always like what we see today).

I rarely use bitcoins as an actual way to buy materialistic things, I have brought gift cards and codes for things ~1btc. But my largest purchase was my dedicated box.

Almost the only thing I've ever done with BTC is donate them to causes I appreciate.  Or appreciated at a point in time.  Probably the largest amount with to Wikileaks, but it could have been to an abortive project originally convinced of by ~evoorhees.  Cannot really remember the name of it.  Operation Bitcoin or something dopey like that.  Last I knew ~trentbz or some such had control of them.

I've donated token amounts to scammers/plonkers (a term which fits many if not most Bitcoin related 'titans of industry') so the Bitcoin Consultancy and whoever ran bitmarket.eu have a few which I used to own.  No more than I expected though.

A vast majority of the value I hold passed through Tradehill in the form of BTC and USD.  They shut down with grace and left me completely whole even though they held the not insignificant amount of fiat I hoped to pump into BTC if the price got down into the $1.xx/BTC range.  They also, however, have proof of my identity, IP addresses vs. time, and so on.  Unless they trashed it.

I remain at risk of donating what is a fairly significant about of value to Instawallet thanks to the recent price run-up but so far ~davout and company have proven reliable and competent.  Mt. Gox could get me for a few BTC at their leisure as well as I recall...and they already gave a throw-away name and one-time password hash to third parties.

Even if I got the refund of $2,759, I'd be out a loss of just over $5k at current Bitcoin price.

Converted about 900 BTC to USD (no BTC economy for medical supplies) and spent it on medical supplies for charity work I did in 2011 - that was the single largest transaction (back when the price fell to $8 from $32 high).

Learned a lesson from Pirate's BTCST at a cost of 510 BTC.  And a secondary lesson from Hashking that insured means jack shit (that was another 41BTC).

I think that when Bitcoinica got hacked, my account was negative...

But most of those 300 BTC I had bought for very cheap (like, 5 USD).

My biggest loss in USD terms was probably Bitcoinica trading first, and gambling on Andrew Bitcoiner site second (I won, it is just that he ran away with the money).

There need be no problem to comment on perceived aspects of our world.

I will say that in my old age it is becoming more clear to me how shiny trinkets are used by some to achieve desired behavior in others.  It is also the case that in past days I was as prone to blow my resources on such things myself.  I would have opted for a tiny but very fast motorcycle or car though (and indeed have done both.)

I do wonder if the MB will mentioned in the same breath as the 10,000 BTC pizza.  We can hope.

Dropped quite a bit of BTC on ASIC miners. It was incredibly exciting, but it didn't go through. The purchase was made about a year ago and even then it was marginally profitable. Today, it would be a good paperweight.

I think this is not a thread, but it is a desire that when I will be able to buy the most expensive ting in my life, especially the most new designed luxury car and the most expensive locket for my beloved wife. So I want to tell that till date I have not buy anything expensive, but in the near future may be I will be able to buy some precious things. And my first choice will be a very expensive gift for my wife.

I bought a college education and now im debt free. While I sort of regret cashing out the amount I did at $900 I still have some left and maybe one day I will be able to purchase more than I ever thought I would with my bitcoin. Im still waiting and holding day by day.

I got to know about Bitcoin this time last year. In the meantime, I have not bought any thing super expensive but my bitcoin earnings and profits have been used to settle family responsibilities and special gifts on birthdays while I intend to hodl the remaining coins for a longer time.

The most expensive thing that i bought in bitcoin is my laptop that i used in my study now actually not bitcoin. I exchange my bitcoin in my country money but not all bitcoin i exchange in money i'll just exchange the bitcoin in money that required only to buy my laptop now i'll used my laptop not only as in my studies i'll used this to be updated in bitcoin and joining the campaign. Now i don't need to rent in the computer shop just to be updated and joining the campaign i'll used it anytime and anywhere. Thanks to bitcoin

the most expensive thing I have with bitcoin is when I redeem my smartphone with bitcoin and that I use for altcoin trading and in a few weeks I can already buy a smartphone that is better than my initial smartphone as the first trading capital.

College education i bought it last year and i know don't have any debt anymore bitcoin has saved me a lot because i would not know what i would do without bitcoin to get all that money so i

Glad to hear it. In this way, you can carry on your studies with ease. Bitcoin has helped a lot of students. It was also wise to convert as much bitcoins as required and you spend it in a sensible way. I can understand the importance of computers and internet for today's students. Hope, you will be able to buy a lot more with bitcoins in future.

Not directly with bitcoin...but recently i have sold 0.3 bitcoin and bought iphone 7 plus for that....so indirectly i bought an iphone with the bitcoin

The most expensive that i bought with my bitcoin is my macbook, i don't spend too much money on things and i just buy the macbook to reward myself for working hard everyday and night and sometimes having sleepless nights because of grinding hard in bitcoin so i decided to buy a macbook and i bought it from my friend who is accepting bitcoin as a payment.

I get not to much expensive buy with the profit from bitcoin trading so far,, because I am earning bitcoin for the first time just from bounty campaign and used my Smartphone to do that,, and than when I have some profit I buy a PC to make my trading activity more than easier

I never bought material thing but the last thing I remember is a vacation trip in a beautiful place here in our country.  Yes, I am with my special someone and I paid for the fare and food.  How cool is that huh!

I never bought the latest android at a price of about 0.75 btc that occurred a month ago. I'm glad because until now the bitcoin price keeps going up and I want to buy a new car soon.  :D

i think it depends on the time of spent. Every year the value of bitcoin is not the same so if you spent 300bitcoin wayback 2012 that was  only cents but today it worth more than a million. By the way i spent .5 btc year 2016 and it only cost 300 dollar that time if i still remember.

I used part of my btc funds in order to open my own company and start my business.
Unfortunately, my business failed and now I'm sorry because I spent so much btc there, specially when I see current btc price :)
Any way, it was good school for me.

I haven't bought anything expensive from my bitcoin. But i know there’s a website where you can buy a house, a car, a Rolex and many other expensive items for bitcoin. Ultimately, the most expensive thing you can buy for bitcoin is anything a person is willing to sell for bitcoin.

Since I am not the Bitcoin early adopter, I haven't spent 1 BTC or so in any deal. However, I have used Bitcoin to purchase Domains from Namecheap and none of them was more than 0.05 BTC even at the time of spending so I can safely say that 0.05 BTC is the highest amount that I have spent so far. However, since Bitcoin is getting expensive day by day, I am sure in the coming years that expenditure would look like $1K or so.

I just bought a whole pc set upgrade using my hard earned bitcoins! But I'm planning to save the remaining and the upcoming bitcoins that I will earn.  ;D
