Title: [SQR] Corner: Social Media Platform and Square ICO
Post by: spacerman on May 06, 2016, 07:57:17 PM
Corner

Social Media for Crypto

Find Your Corner

Corner seeks to be a new social media platform that helps users find information that is most relevant to their interests in crypto. It also acts as a content monetization network (CMN) for content creators and content curators through the use of a cryptocurrency: Squares.
What is Corner?

Corner is a social media platform for the cryptographic currency and blockchain community. Most of the ways the community currently interacts with one another is through sites like Twitter, private messaging services, and forums. These sites are great for the sharing of quick ideas or blurbs, but they make it very hard to express your views in a longer form. They also give you no way of storing the interesting articles and ideas you read about for later reference.

Corner solves that problem by allowing users to save content that they find interesting to their “Your Corner” page. It also gives them the ability to interact with a community of like-minded individuals, and network within the various niches of the crypto community.

The site has four corners, the Trader’s Corner, the Developer’s Corner, the Big Ideas Corner, and the Social Corner. Each corner will be color coded to alert a user as to what category the viewable content relates to. For instance, traders will be able to easily find investment and day trading articles, whereas developers might be searching for ways to solve their computer coding needs.

Users can follow and interact with one another on the site to spread ideas faster. Anyone who writes original content on the site (content creators) will be able to set a small fee for others to read it. This fee will be dictated in the site’s native currency: Squares. Readers of these articles can also act as curators for the content. If they post it to their corner and someone buys it, the curator will get a cut of the content creator’s fees.

In essence, Corner is a social media platform to help spread ideas to targeted niches in the crypto community and give those ideas monetary value.

What are Squares (SQR)?

Squares give value to the ideas that are shared on the site. The coin will serve multiple purposes, first and foremost acting as the native currency for the site. If a content creator wants to receive payments for their work, they will need to charge in squares.

Squares gives you more access to Corner's content, and allows you to use the site to its fullest extent. Furthermore, after the website's launch, a few other projects will be started to help give more value to Squares. While determined by funding, these aim to allow users of the site to use the square blockchain to verify authorship of content and have a passwordless login. More on that will be provided after the website is rolled out, so stay tuned!

I'm really, really excited for this project-- it's cool to see a trusted member of the cryptocurrency community launching a project that is designed to improve on the way things have been in the past, with a view to the future. It would be great to have another home for altcoin discussions that ISN'T merely a sub-board of another "main" cryptocurrency.

Will be watching and supporting.

I like the idea, if you will manage the implementation, may have something new and interesting.

Will there be a bounty for the members of the forum?
I have translated the theme into the Russian language: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=72.0

Thanks for translating it to Russian klarki!

Can you expand on what you mean by bounty?

There are currently no plans to reward anyone with Squares outside of those who participate in the crowdfund.

Many developers make reward for theme translation into other languages.

Just create an avatar and a signature campaign (it's a pretty good way to express yourself and to disseminate information among the members of the forum.)
I only recommend)
Perhaps the future implementing this idea.

hi, notsofast, can u by chance tell us why you say this member is trusted?
the profile tells me "THIS USER HAS RESET THEIR PASSWORD RECENTLY"  (a sign of sold account)
and has zero feedback, who is this user to you or the cryptocommunity?
just curious, thx ! ;)

addition.  --- also note the over 1+year of no posts (another sign of sold account)   then back to posting everyday?

too fishy for me thx, im out but good luck!

I can address this AleScamHole...

I am a very active trader on Twitter who was disenfranchised from bitcointalk some time ago. As I began to become a better trader I simply found that bitcointalk didn't help me in the ways that I needed help. Instead I focused on Twitter, joined some private communities, and avoided bitcointalk.

Naturally, this left me inactive for over a year, and that mean I forgot my password and had to change it. lol

Bitcointalk has a large community, and many new projects put up a bitcointalk announcement for the outreach. I have nothing against bitcointalk, but for me, I found trouble getting what I needed out of it. It is still a fantastic social media resource for the bitcoin community, but I am looking to provide something for crypto that we don't have yet: A means of sharing bigger ideas outside of private groups, where you can save the information that inspires you the most for later reference.

I want the community to be able to organize their ideas in a more concise way, and if the ideas are good enough, monetize off of them as well.

I hope that answers your question.

This project is based on the ideals of the bitcoin community. There is no intention to use the site to collect information about you. The hope is that in the future the native Square currency will be able to be built upon to give you more privacy

As far as trading goes (and there will be more applications than just trading) the goal is to create a community where veterans are encouraged to interact with beginner traders... While still allowing veteran traders to interact with other veterans.

As far as trading goes (and there will be more applications than just trading) the goal is to create a community where veterans are encouraged to interact with beginner traders... While still allowing veteran traders to interact with other veterans.

One of the problems encountered with current social media for trading is that new traders can get sucked into trollboxes and areas heavily populated by other new traders who lead each other into bad trades. Veteran traders tend to stay away from these areas and move to private channels.

By incentivizing good ideas with fiscal rewards, traders with good ideas are more likely to stick around--both to their benefit and to the new traders' benefit.

Developers were meeting, where this information can be viewed?

I have yet to hire them as developers. I simply shared my ideas with their team and they were extremely excited by the idea of working on it. But they are a company based out of my hometown of Albuquerque.

Will announce when they are for sure on board :)

It is good for you if you pass the rules to host Bittrex ICO. But it is an expensive ICO with lot of fees. There are other cheap ICO hosters there. How much openledger, ccedk cost to host an ICO there?

Sure there are cheaper ways to do it, but that would just show that Corner is a cheap start up. Bittrex helps to validate and legitimize our operation, and will hopefully allow you to trust the crowd fund even more.

Update:

Trex just confirmed the ICO. Although this came a little late, things are still on track. I'm pushing to start the ICO next week (June 6th). I think this will be possible. Naturally, there will be many announcements about this so you won't miss it.

The ICO will run for 10 days and it will need to raise 75 btc in order to be successful. So get those bitcoins ready everyone!

Good news!
Do I understand correctly that are not going to spend the bounties (in Facebook, Twitter, subscription campaign for example)
After all, it is quite an effective method of public relations among the community.

Well i just got out of a meeting with a potential advisor, and got a lot of great advice. There are a few hurdles that need to be taken care of before the ICO launch, including having a lawyer make sure that everything here is sound.

The Trex ICO has been confirmed and will happen in due time, but there are a few technical aspects that need tending to first. This is going to move everything back a bit more, so I will talk to the advisor and see if a bounty system is recommended or not.

We're still here. But going through making sure that all the legal things are in place. Plus it will be better for all of us if the trex ICO begins when alts are in a bullish market. Right now BTC is in the spotlight.

It is clear that now almost does not make sense to enter the market.
But there is at least approximate dates?

To pull a leaf from Litecoin's book.... Soon.

My advisor and I will be meeting with lawyers soon to discuss the project. Things look good so far, but there are no new announcements to report.

Title: Re: [SQR] Corner: Social Media Platform and Square ICO
Post by: spacerman on July 07, 2016, 04:32:09 AM
So I've discussed with my advisor... and while we both love the project idea, as we moved deeper into the logistics of the project we were afraid that the demand for such a project may not be able to warrant the use of a native cryptographic token.

That said, hosting an ICO for such a token in order to fund the project has the potential to lead to some very upset ICO buyers should the coin become obsolete as the site grows. While the idea for the website is exciting, the implementation could take years, and we decided that neither of us feel comfortable running an ICO that could put such a large risk on its supporters.

I believe wholeheartedly that this site could be very successful--and useful--for the niche crypto market, but I am worried that its main users--ICO supporters and traders--could lose more than they gain from such a project.

Also during these discussion, a more compelling use for blockchain technology as a means of storytelling began to form, and so it is with both regret and excitement that I am announcing that we will be letting the Corner project go to pursue an exciting alternative. This will be announced when everything is more concrete and ready for the public.

This is not to say that Corner is dead. If anyone is interested in taking over its development, PM me and we can talk. I can provide you with the webpage blueprints and notes.

I would still love to see Corner become a reality.

Thanks for your understanding :)
