Title: Watching-Only account. Lost seed but have password
Post by: Tully96 on May 07, 2016, 05:58:01 PM
So yesterday I did my first p2p transaction and it went great. The not so great is I'm new to the whole p2p and transferring procedure.

We used Mycelium for Android to transfer BitCoins from his Mycelium to my Mycelium. All great
I then went home, and because I'm unfamiliar with the process I created a new wallet, made a password , yada yada, and transferred my newly bought coins to this wallet.

Turns out this wallet is Watching-Only and I can't send coins through it.

My issue is that I cannot use the coins in my wallet because when i created the wallet I didn't write down the seed or save it anywhere. Is there anything I can do or am I stuck looking at a wallet with my coin but will never be able to use? I have the password and stuff and access to the wallets it traveled through to get there but I dont have the seed for this wallet because I was unaware at the time how important it was.

Any help is appreciated

How exactly did you create the watching-only wallet?

If you have lost the seed, the golden rule here , is RIP your bitcoins, I am sorry for your loss, but you cannot do anything without the seed.

Actually the only thing you can do ,is if you have your private key and can import this wallet in some other wallet and use the password, but I am guessing since you have not stored the seed, you have also not stored the private keys somewhere else too.

Without the seed, you're boned.

How did you manage to create a Watching-Only wallet though? Mycelium creates HD wallets that are all recoverable with the same seed phrase.

What do you mean by "password"? Are you talking about the 12 word seed phrase, or the PIN? If you have the 12 word seed phrase of your original wallet, it should work with the next HD wallet you created. In this case you would need to reinstall Mycelium.
