Title: Are you going to trade hill instead of mtgox?
Post by: clonedone on June 10, 2011, 06:28:35 PM
IF you did, why did you choose to?
i noticed that tradehill dosent seem as good as mtgox in the graphs department

and of course i am shameless myself

get 10% off commision fees with my ref code: TH-R1972

thank you.

I have both but im thinking about switching to trade hill because of all the different withdrawals

I'll use both most likely.

The graphs/trade history is lacking at tradehill for sure, but once that's fixed I can't complain about much else so far.

Well, I just started with this bitcoin stuff, and somehow tradehill seemed much better for me.

I have no complains. Sold a btc for 32U$S, they took their fee (quite low), and I received 31.82U$S.

They have the instant-buy and instant-sell thing which is great, also.

So, TradeHill for me.

MtGox offers SEPA withdrawals, trade hill doesn't, so I have to use MtGox.  ;)

I tried to get on Mt.Gox too difficult to get monies in on short notice.
I just recently got turned on to BitCoin (end of last month).

Glad I'm here.

Standard is actually .6% and like he mentioned the referral code brings it down.
If the FAQ is still outdated we'll change it.
Lots of emails  and stuff to do.
Big changes coming soon.

so MtGox for me.

I've never trusted their so-called "Dark Pools" that don't match real world dark pools. Dark Pools in the real market allow people to trade anonymously, Mt Gox Dark Pools allow someone to rush the price up or down (buy regularly and then sell dark or vice versa).

Lack of EUR payments is not really a bonus.
I diversify bank accounts and if USD is the only withdraw option, going to have to pass on Hill for now.

I'd also prefer CHF (swiss francs) but that's prob. not going to happen.

Waiting to see if they have more sane limits and allow privacy. I'm pretty turned off by the referral system. It looks like I'd have to make an account with which to refer myself in order to get both sides of the discount? Weird. Why would I choose someone who wasn't my wife or I to get a % of my action? Because someone spammed their code at me?

More criticism.

They naively followed MtGox terrible BTC deposit method and even made it worse. Click to get an address and click a few more times to actually see it?

It's easy to do it right:

User asks for an address to pay to.
You give it to them with a message about how long it will be good for.
Listen for payments to that address.
Credit any payments until it expires.

If you trade $100,000, your referrer gets $50. Is it really that big of a deal?

it's not because of the commission. it's because people are spamming the forums, and it's really annoying.

Affiliate programs can be useful, but not how this one was executed at all. This results in a bunch of doofuses advertising the same thing in the same place to people who 100% would hear about it anyway. They add zero value. On top of that it's essentially free for anyone who cares to get their own referral money.

I stopped making market a while back, but $100k doesn't take that long when you constantly take both sides.

Maybe because some people do a hell of a lot for the bitcoin community at large and deserve to pick up a small margin here and there. I used the code handed out by Bruce Wagner on the bitcoin show, as I admire what he has done and rather than pay the sizable sum for the donation I think he deserves, depleting my savings (and their compounding future growth), I can tip him a residual reward. I liked it for the very reason you dislike it.  ??? Oh well... Diffrent strokes for different folks I guess.  ;)

I thought about to switch to Tradehill. But at the moment its no option for me. Tradehill does not offer a way to transfer EUR. You can transfer USD via an bank transfer but this needs up to 3 days and costs up to $15. Makes no sense for me.

To MtGox i can transfer money using Liberty Reserve. They will bill me also some fees but it tooke me just some minutes to finishe the transfer with about 1% fee.

And Dwolla seems only to be available for Americans. Am i write or wrong at this point ?

Until Tradehill has not established a way to transfer money (USD or better EUR ;) ) instantly ,meaning up to 1hr, with less fee it is not an option for me and i need to live with MtGox.

But i looking forward and will watch how Tradehill will grow.

Ruxum has a CHF market. Or you can sell your bitcoins for usd and then convert them to chf within the web.

Personally, I just stuck with mtgox though I have nothing that is stopping me from trying out trade hill.

I got annoyed with all the spam they caused turning up useless posts and blog replies on every bitcoin related article.

Why choose one or the other? I use both. When doing a decent size buy/sell, one or the other always has a slight price difference. I use whatever one is more advantageous, why not?

I won't use both.   Both have a lot of hassles moving your money through the Liberty Reserve etc. I rather keep the coins I mined.  Bitcoins are hard to buy, maybe easier to sell but a lot of problem taking back the money.

Hello,

We currently do not offer withdrawals through sending checks.  The withdrawal options that we have right now are Paxum, Liberty Reserve, Dwolla, SEPA, International wire and the AurumXchange.  If you have a Dwolla account, it would be recommended to make withdrawals through Dwolla as they incur a low fee of only $0.25.
