Title: [Last update: 2/26/2013] Mystical Speculation: Bitcoin Tarot Card Reading
Post by: The Fool on February 24, 2013, 02:24:08 PM
Using the random.org random number generator with numbers 0-22 and correlating them with the Tarot's Major Arcana, I can give Bitcoin a minimalist tarot card reading. Tarot cards are often used by psychics to predict the future. How well will it apply to bitcoin? Look at the days below.

2/26/2013, 5:30AM EST

The numbers for today were 7, 18 and 22. Using these face values, that leaves us with:

The Chariot

The Moon

The Fool

My interpretation:

As shown by The Moon, there will be a moderate dip today with some stabilization trending upwards -- The Chariot indicates this balance. However, The Fool signifies that some new information may be entering the markets, changing fundamentals.

The numbers for today were 7, 1 and 7. Using these face values, that leaves us with:

The Chariot:

The Magician

The Chariot:

My interpretation:

The Magician often signifies great power or manipulation. There is a manipulator in our midst and there will be powerful swings in today's price. However, The Chariots in their dual form means all things will eventually come to balance once again on this day. Expect to hold the line as bitcoin stays between 29 and 31 USD in price.

2/24/2012, 9AM EST

The numbers for today were 14, 21 and 8. Using these face values, that leaves us with:

Temperance

The World

Strength

My interpretation:

Bitcoin will go through much needed stabilization today. This will strengthen it as the world begins to acknowledge its existence. The price for today will be sideways.

I interpret the presence of boldy irrational speculators as the sucker zone.  :P

Bulls make money, Bears make money but Pigs just get slaughtered.

I did a reading for the year 2140 when all the bitcoin's will be issued. This is what I got:

The Hanged Man

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2b/RWS_Tarot_12_Hanged_Man.jpg

The Moon

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7f/RWS_Tarot_18_Moon.jpg

The Chariot

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9b/RWS_Tarot_07_Chariot.jpg

I am sensing a long struggle has passed ending without much need for bitcoin. We may have been enlightened so much that we have overcome the need for money.

i like this, it would be cool if you gave us the "meaning" of each card, as well as your interpretation

The meanings in these cards are somewhat self-evident: Balance, the wholeness of the world and strength. As the Tarot tells a story, I made a story of the drawing as well within the context of Bitcoin and today's trading.

So a little background: It is thought to be contemplating on the Tarot leads to divine inspiration, mainly because Tarot is another word for Torah. The whole Major Arcana is based on Biblical stories and Jewish Kabbalistic theory. The Tree of Sephiroth and such. The deck just starts with God working from ground zero as The Fool exploring himself and knowing himself through creation. The deck eventually ends with The World (or The Universe) and then The Fool again as the 22nd and 0th card. It's a cosmological cycle.

A crude table of contents of the deck: http://www.yhwh.com/tarot/tarottoc.htm

I also did a reading, and I got this:

Lovers in The Tower
The Moon and Sun divided
And The Hanged Man smiles

Lovers in The Tower
The Moon and Sun divided
Let The Fool (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=78399) decide  :o

wondering if Mr Dickinson ever heard of this thread. Or Bitcoin for that matter.  :D

This resource I find good for a general guide to standard card meanings http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/

I'm enjoying seeing a Tarot thread & if you included the suit cards as well as the major arcana that may work well for day to day readings.

I'll do the Major Arcana for a few more readings. I need to order the suits and number them in order to incorporate them. I don't own any actual cards. I may just have to buy some.

You will notice today's reading has been rather accurate. Am I wrong?

It's called not even wrong. (http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Not_even_wrong)
Quote
Something that is not even wrong is usually so far out of the ballpark or so far from reality that it is, quite simply, flabbergastingly irrelevant. For example:
“”2 + zebra ÷ glockenspiel = homeopathy works!

some cannot grasp the 'as above so below' fractality of the microcosm/macrocosm around us
