Title: Blockchain.info
Post by: Dissonance on May 14, 2016, 02:30:18 AM
I went to the blockchain.info site and it says my ip is banned.  I went to use the wallet app and my pin doesn't work.  Is anyone else having problems with the site ?  Can someone try going there and tell me if they can access?

Thanks in advance.

Can you show us a screenshot of this?
I have never seen this error before and can't see a reason why blockchain.info would ban your IP address

I can't for the life of me think why I would ever be banned I have a few hundred dollar on the site.  I use their wallet as a checking account because of the ease of use...I seen their site go down from time to time but i've never been banned can you access the site ?

The site works fine with me. It worked when I accessed an old wallet. I have never seen such error before.
Are you using a vpn or a proxy? Must be because you used a bad IP.

It might be because that your IP is recognized as a spammer or proxy. I encounter this issue a lot with StopForumSpam (yours is Cloudflare, which they manually added your IP into the list - I believe). What you can do is to email the Blockchain team explaining to them that you are a legitimate user.

You should be able to access ZenDesk (or Blockchain.com) - https://blockchain.zendesk.com/ or https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/requests/new/.

This is odd and not something i have seen before.
I would advise that if you have any coins in your blockchain wallet to contact support asap and explain what is happening and try have your account locked down so no payments can be sent.

Better still if you have your memoric seed (and you should) then recover your account via a VPN to hide your IP address and move any funds.

Do you have 2fa on your account setup?
Also what country are you from as this may be a legality thing from countries that have banned bitcoin, although that is a very long shot.

This is very strange.. I was using the site last night without an issue.  I am not using a proxy and I certainly have not been spamming.  Is there a chance I could have been hacked ?

I don't think so because a hacker would just move your coins and go away.

Do you have 2fa on the account?

That's good, contact support and this should work out ok for you.

If there has been a hack and coins stolen with the hackers bypassing the 2fa on your account then please keep us updated as this may be a big problem.

By passing 2fa is not always that hard especially if they have also hacked your email account linked to blockchain, can you access your email with no problems?

I hope all this works out for you.

Reply to the email they sent you and ask but i'm just happy to hear this all worked out well for you.

This should also be a lesson to you that you should always remove your coins offline when logging off for the day.
As long as you know how to create them securely paper wallets are a good creap option or i world advise you to invest in a Trezor, Lendger or any other hardware wallet that suites your needs.

Perhaps you're using TOR? I've never had this problem before, but maybe Blockchain.info is now trying to prevent people from using their service for illegal purchases/services?

If this problem persists, I suggest you either:

1. Use a VPN if you really really like blockchain.info and will die without it
2. Use another online wallet like coinbase, or use bitcoin core.

It is also working fine on my side bro. I suggest , if you are getting issue while using block chain wallet, you can choose " Electrum " , it is the best multi sig wallet.

Not using proxy, not using tor, not using a vpn.  I am not a spammer or hacker or anything like that.  I did e-mail them backasking why I was banned in the first place but they did not reply .  I am however fully unblocked now but it is strange I was blocked to begin with.

Yea I keep my coins spread among  different locations. I keep some coin on blockchain.info because I prefer their andriod app and use it like a checking account.  I should probabaly get a good hardware wallet and keep some coin there too.

I always keep large sum or most of my bitcoin in electrum wallet which is much like having own bitcoin node. feel more secured than all those online wallet like blockchain and coinbase. However blockchain.info also provide good service. Always try to spread your coins in different wallets and also keep private key of all the addresses you use.

Just in case something happens like this in the future, and you need urgent access to your coins, I recommend exporting your private keys and importing them to a Encrypted desktop wallet like Electrum or MultiBit HD for save keeping. You never know - They could ban your IP again or get shut down for whatever reason or they might get DDoSed, which would remove access from your BlockChain.info wallet.

I did the same when they upgraded the site. Many features were and are still missing which is why i want ot have full control over my addresses.
It's not a trust issue though, i do entrust them with a small stash of my coins.

good that your problem was solved , but this is really a strange thing and they didn't answer why they blocked your IP
we are hearing more people complaining about online wallets , almost everyday a new topic is opened discussing issues about these sites especially blockchain
I'm not a big fan , but people should stop using these wallets

Well I do think online wallets have their place and blockchain.info has a great andriod app.  But I agree its best not to but a ton of money in them and use them like a checking account.
