Title: No Man's Sky Post by: squatz1 on May 14, 2016, 09:57:49 PM I personally believe No Man's Sky will revolutionize the gaming industry. Some people say it will not be so significant. What are your thoughts?

Just like so many others that made these big promises and couldn't deliver. You can tell the game yes is going to have a zillion worlds to explore, but they're all going to be pretty much the same and there isn't going to be a whole lot to do besides just wander around and look at things. Spore for example is a game that did something similar, big promise and we all know how that turned out.

It's just going to generate an absurdly high and useless number of planets via random generation of a fixed set of elements/environments. Once you visit enough planets, all others are going to be the same. Nothing special here.

Exactly.I believe one day a game that promises these grand ideas will actually be made, but it won't be for some time. Perhaps a game will actually be created with a million worlds and people can get lost in them, but the work required by humans to make them is just too much. Likely they'll get some AI's to do all the programming. lol |
