Would this not be quite intensive to setup?
I have no idea but would imagine that setting something like this up now that the new forum is almost shooting out the gate might cause a few hiccups. Besides it would hamper selling of accounts. :-X

Not sure.
I do know that Google Authenticator is free to use.
I don't think it would be a problem.

while selling, it will be easy, you will cancel 2fa and give other information to buyer and when he will change everything, he will put his own 2fa

It will definitely help the forum as for the recent hacks on the accounts we're probably phishing, keylogger or a rat. But 2fa could most likely have prevented most methods of them being hacked.

I know, right?
If 2FA does get integrated on Bitcointalk, No account will get hacked.

Would probably help reduce scams.

Epochtalk is coming out soon; there's no point in implementing it now. If you can simply hold out from being hacked for a little longer, we can use the new forum.

Why doesn't Bitcointalk support 2FA?

It's true that these were the recent hack, and i was victim, and i think that there are many more but they will be 'active' later (not all at once). 2FA is the best way to increase the security level. As mentioned many times here it is supposed to be in the new forum the integration of 2FA.

I am sure that 2FA won't be implemented in current version of Bitcointalk. Because with the new forum software on the horizon there is no need to invest into upgrading older version.
However, I have no idea if new forum will have build in 2FA option right from the start and of course there is not ETA of when it will released as well.

2FA is apparently fairly difficult to integrate into SMF (the current forum software). There was even a bounty (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=364307.0) created to crete a 2FA system that is good enough for theymos to implement, however the current forum still does not have/use 2FA.

It is my understanding that one of the requirements for the new forum is for 2FA to be available, so once the new forum is officially rolled out, 2FA should (at least in theory) be available for everyone to use.

It was stated as such in 2014, although I am unsure if there is a more recent update.

Any plans for implementing some sort of a 2FA in the new forum? (this is especially important for people conducting trades over the forum)
Yes, there will be 2FA.

Didn't know that we were shifting to Epochtalk.
That'll support 2FA though, right?

Why doesn't Bitcointalk support 2FA?

probably because we can hold any bitcoin in bitcointalk, its function is not as a wallet, but just a forum to talk everything about bitcoin or some off-topics.

but if accounts are hacked, how do you think those people hack the accounts?

I'm sorry but what did you mean with 'because we can hold any bitcoin in bitcointalk, its function is not as a wallet, but just a forum to talk everything about bitcoin or some off-topics'.

This is totally no-sense.

2FA is going to be implemented in EpochTalk. I suppose we'll all be able to use it once the forum software has been replaced:

If that's mandatory, I don't think I would come back. I never got hacked, because my password is strong enough. That would a real pain for me.

Nothing is mandatory, so I don't think 2FA will be mandatory. It will be just a choice , like hide an e-mail or reveal it....  and like always 'you can always leave' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fasTSY-dB-s
).
