Title: Upcoming Altcoins for a Newbie
Post by: thecryptocoinman on May 15, 2016, 05:04:41 PM
Hi all,

I'm Tony and I have been following the forums for sometime and never really spoke up until now! I love the wealth of knowledge I can find on here! For that I thank you!

I do want to pick your brains though, If I may:

Apart from Litecoin, Etheriuem etc... What is a new upcoming Altcoin I should start looking at? I am looking at taking a slight risk on a new coin but ideally I would like something that is not made by those shitty Coin making sites!

All recommendations would be amazing!

Thank you in advance

Tony

In B4 the coin shilling. Do not listen to any advice you receive here on specific coins. The best thing to do is do your own research and invest what you're willing to lose.

Ive had good luck with BTC, DMD, START, MND and SYS.  But have had bad luck with ARCH, XPY, XMG, NYC and GLD.  Make sure you study the losers to help you not make the same mistake.

Great advice! I guess I'll have people trying to say their coins are the best! Lol

I'm have heavily invested in BTC, LTC and ETH and a small of DOGE and looking to expand my portfolio! So far so good! I just want to be there for the beginning of something amazing! Lol

Indeed, it is better to study the market.
In these cases, it is better not to listen to no one.
Only cold calculation!

Fair enough, where would be a good place to start looking? In the forums here?

If I would have to say specific examples I'd say Lisk and Waves. Though I agree with the folks above that you'd better judge yourself if you invest or not. The differences between shitcoins and coins that actually have a technological 'foundation' are obvious but future development of prices are almost impossible to predict. You can get lucky with a shitcoin and squeeze out a 10x profit during a pump & dump, or you can bite the dust with a coin that seemed solid but nosedives into the ground anyway. Its like gambling, you see  ;D (unless you're a trading pro ... !)

Instead of looking at new coins, I suggest you look at aged coins with underlying fundamentals not yet understood by the market. With a genesis timestamp of May 14th, 2013, there are only a handful for coins older than GoldCoin (GLD), and these mature coins are quietly making a comeback!

And taking into consideration the Lindy Effect, you can safely assume these currencies have the greatest chance of continued survival. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindy_effect

Did you know that GoldCoin is working with a precious metals company to leverage its blockchain? https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3581.0

A new era is underway in the altcoin sector whereby companies are beginning to understand the power of leveraging mature blockchains. By utilizing existing blockchain infrastructure, they are able to avoid the costs of implementing private internal solutions.

You can obtain GoldCoin (GLD) here: https://c-cex.com/?p=gld-btc

I suggestion is that you keep your bitcoins and sell them when the price is high.

Especially with the upcoming halving, nobody knows the potential of bitcoin in a halving situation like this :)

Yes very true, 54 days and the price will either so sky high or rock bottom! I am kinda thinking sky high!

You should do your own research.  :)

If I only had some BTC I would consider investing in HOdlcoin

Why would this be?

I had huge success with Crypto bullion,Rubies,Bigup,Revcoin and Bioscrytos the price is upwards and they had a very active developers and admin to keep the coin ongoing to get to know the coin and their community I highly recommend that you go on the altcoin section announcement..

You should check out Factom: it's already developing real-word use cases.

Still under-the-radar, after a big pump. In my opinion, it's a HODL. Once I get the haunch I'm aiming at, they're going into a paper wallet.

Well Waves looks very promising and its launch is very close.

I have and invested a small amount into it! I may invest a little bit more! I worried this maybe a pump and dump!

Im still saying Maidsafe is a great project, and very interesting with a lot of potential, if some fundamental problems are solved. I think it's one of the few coins that I would be willing to hold longer than 1 month (that aren't Bitcoin). ETH should also deliver some good pumps in the future too, and Monero as well, but always remember, all coins lose against Bitcoin in the long term, so know when to leave.
