Title: The BEST way to invest my coins?
Post by: johnniewalker on February 28, 2013, 12:49:40 AM
Hi everybody,
For the most part I'm done doing trade involving BTC (buying things). I'll keep a couple around if there's something I really like. I don't have a ton of coins, but I do have a decent amount. I know it's impossible to say, but does anyone have any advice on the BEST way to invest these? Of course every investment is a gamble, but I feel one involving BTC is even more so (crazy number of scams, etc). So to sum it up, I want the greatest reward with the least amount of risk. Yeah, who doesn't? But I just wanted to get a discussion going...

It would help if we know whether you want a regular income, capital growth etc and over what time span you want a return.  Do you want to put all your eggs in one basket or diversify?

That's the thing-I don't know
I'm willing to part with my coins for say...6 months-year.

well some might say just keeping btcs is already an investment ^^

but maybe you could invest in a bitcoin gambling website (as a partner/investor/..)
also there might be some projects in the "services discussion" sub forum of the marketplace looking for partners

True, just holding onto them works. But I like to have my money work for me. It'd be awesome if there was a legitimate Bitcoin Bank (privately operated, of course) that gave out loans and paid interest on account balances. Unfortunately due to the nature of BTC I don't think that will ever happen.

That should happen, but currently it doesn't exist yet. You can always invest into BTCINVEST (https://bitfunder.com/asset/BTCINVEST) which is managed by me, and now is returning about 20%+ yearly in dividends.

you can have a look on sites like https://cryptostocks.com/securities

although there probably very risky, there are other crowd funding type bitcoin sites.

If I were you I would make sure to hedge your investments so if you invest in a bitcoin Ice cream shop also invest in a Bitcoin Hot chocolate or soup shop, this is basic portfolio stuff. Never invest what you can't afford to loose.

There was one bank I did see on the forum, it was a Muslim bank but don't know how formal it is.

I would like to offer you the chance to invest in me but the few ideas I've had have been done already :-(

I've been pretty impressed by the features and fund/bond/stocks on BTC-TC.

A cold wallet. There's no risk of someone running off with your coins. If Bitcoin is still around in two years, it will be massively successful and you will have only risked what you have in it now and will realize a huge gain in the future. If it's not around, we're all hosed anyway but you may have already lost the coins to sureinvestmentbtc.com or some similar outfit.

While that has the lowest risk, it does not give the greatest return.

It gives the greatest return with the lowest risk as was asked by OP.

To nitpick, greatest return with the lowest risk would always be the highest returning one or the lowest risk one.

Nitpick elsewhere.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Bitcoins are a HELL of a lot harder to invest than money. I'll explore what you guys mentioned. I'm not going to dig a hole in my backyard and keep them there.
