Post by: ZahlenSalat on May 22, 2016, 12:06:43 PM
Good Evening,

I looking to find some secure android Wallet for keeping my coins, who can recommend me a good and secure one?

My phone is not rooted and I do not install random crap, so I assume it should be safe enough!

I suggest using a pc wallet or wallet online from blockchains I think it was more secure. But if you want a mobile wallet, you can go to this link https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet/blockchain (https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet/blockchain) there mobile wallet from blockchains.
thanks you, i hope this can help you.

1. It has 100,000-500,000 downloads on Google play.
2. "Best Mobile App" award by Blockchain.info

Those two things are more than enough to me to choose the wallet honestly , But if you want more technical details then you check their website : https://wallet.mycelium.com/service.html

I recommended you to use Blockchain android version. The wallet is very easy to use also very secure before sign into the wallet must be entered a PIN code.

for me mycellium is better mobile wallet full acces we can import and export privekey, but for small transaction, like top up number phone etc. you can use xapo/coinbase wallet it's very simple to use it, no extra fee for saving and no fee for each transaction, so you can save some "satoshi" for each transaction.

I use Airbitz and Mycelium on my phone. Both are great, but I recommend Airbitz for people new to Bitcoin.

agree with you blockchain is very safe, it's my first bitcoin wallet address, but for small transaction i recomended using xapo or coinbase, we can transaction without fee, but the problem we can export or import any wallet address.

Yeah blockchain.info is very safe to the point that it was removed by the recommended web wallets on bitcoin.org.

You are about to use a mobile app. After choosing some of the recommended mobile wallets, you are the one who can make it safe.

I'm not really a big fan of mobile wallets, especially for keeping 1BTC.
When talking about FIAT, i'd never walk around with $400 in my pocket (unless i had to go pay somebody right away).

If you're sure about using a mobile wallet, i'd defenately go for one where your private keys stay on your device, and not on a central server. Mycelium or electrum pop to mind.

You can never go wrong with Mycelium as long as you plan on using a mobile bitcoin wallet. You have a strong encryption there with BIP38 and can keep your 12 or 13 words in a safe place, therefore minimizing the risk of you coins getting stolen. Mycelium is so far the best Android wallet out there.

I wouldn't permanently store over 1 BTC on a mobile wallet!
For lower amounts I'm using Copay, it has a clean gui and is easy to handle even for newbies.

The android operating system is especially prone to attacks and hacks because the easiness to jailbreak/root the system. Also it's opensource your operating system might not have the right security measures.

But if you're using one, use blockchain.info. You can access it as an app and on a browser.
