Title: Two-Factor Verification!
Post by: Katrina Elisse Caudle on March 01, 2013, 10:03:44 PM
Hey folks!

I was wondering if anyone has had an problems with the Google two-factor verification?

I set one up for my Blockchain account and it worked great for a few days. Then, suddenly it stopped working saying the number was incorrect. I ended up removing the two-factor with little difficulty using Blockchain's system but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else?

Was it the android app on a smartphone?  The OTP is time based.   The only time I have seen an issue like that is when the smartphone's time gets out of sync.

Oh hey! It was the Google Authenticator app for iPhone, so maybe it was something similar. Do you know how to re-sync it?

I find the 2 factor system really secure with Blcokchain.info.

Some smart cookie (Me!) accidentally set 2 factor on and didn't save the secret key before it disappeared. Luckily I got my account re-set.

To re-sync it, just go into your mobile's setting and make sure it's set to automatically update the time (from an internet server).  That should fix any time delay problems.

you can message Mr. piuk about this as he is the operator of blockchain.info, but he is quite unresponsive... :'(

i wouldn't recommend using "2-factor" auth if it doesn't use a device that is not your phone.

a yubikey is ideal for cheap 2nd factor.
