Title: [ ] [Sweet Sistine] [another poll(?)] [for lovers of brackets--pick next Pope]
Post by: Phinnaeus Gage on March 02, 2013, 02:40:21 AM
It's that time again. Get yourself a glass of wine and some crackers, then pick 'em. (http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/02/27/papal-brackets-ncaa-tournament-pope/1950543/)

My satoshi's on the Irish dude.

Amazingly, this could be the first time in history that people (read social media) influence the election of a new Pope.

If you don't like who's on the list, pick from one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_living_cardinals

To narrow your choice, put the list in chronological order according to age, then only concentrate on those between the age of 60 and 70 years old. Although it's most likely a Cardinal from Italy will be chosen, take a look at some of the other countries as well.

I picked the Irish dude from the US: Seán Patrick O'Malley

It's been a while since we had a bearded Pope.

Upon leaving the Vatican, the outgoing Pope was ask, "Now that you're retired, where do you want to visit first?" Whereupon he replied...wait for it..., "Pattaya!"

Quote
Cardinal Ruben Salazar Gomez, archbishop of Bogota, Colombia, tweeted that although God would ultimately choose the next pontiff, he wanted to know what his followers hoped for in a new pope.

Please include him in the poll.

^ I was going to include him, till I learned he once had sex with an alligator.

What's the over/under on having my Irish choice chosen on March 17, 2013? That would be amazing! An Irish Pope with a beard chosen on St. Patrick's Day. Talk about getting money pumped into the coming-soon-new-and-improved-system. This choice would be their ticket.

Unfortunately, God makes the choice, not the Cardinals. They just relay the message. Does anybody know which Twitter account Jehovah is using predominantly? Image if enough of use tweeted #IrishPope. Surely Big J will get the message, then pass it on to the Cardinals or, at the very least, the boys who are interns to them.
