Lots of people invested/planning to invest into it. It can fail like everything else, but I don't see a reason why that should happen. @OP ETH is already on a dump. Lisk may effect the price a little bit, because traders are paying attetntion and hype LISk when it's released. But once DAO tokens will be available on exchanges for trade it may increase again. Best to diversify a bit. Keep a hand in each pot cause anything can happen.
