Title: CPU Mining with 32 cores at 2,2GHz each, 768GB RAM, no GPU but free electricity Post by: SigmaTau on May 25, 2016, 09:58:44 AM Hi guys!
So we bought a small "supercomputer" with 4 Intel Xeon E5-4620 (32 cores/64 threads in total, 2,2GHz each, 16MB L3 cache each) with 768GB of RAM a few years back. At the time it has been used extensively, but now it is only used occasionally. As we are generating our electricity with two complete warehouses full of solar panels as well as a nearby wind power plant, electricity is basically free. Any suggestions on what to CPU-mine with it? I have read about HODL, Coin Magi, Monero and Bytecoin but I am not sure which one we should invest our resources into. Any suggestions? Other alternatives, except buying a whole lot of GPUs ;)? Best regards SigmaTau Title: Re: CPU Mining with 32 cores at 2,2GHz each, 768GB RAM, no GPU but free electricity Post by: Amph on May 25, 2016, 10:20:00 AM hodl or esper, or bitcedi if you want it is a new cryptonite coin, but the diff is high already, probably botnet-fest there, raping it

Run benchmarks of all cpuminers you can find and post here. I have a script that automates that -- https://gist.github.com/hmage/923b95fad6955e1bf58ebb93d1b1071b Run it like this: ./minerbench cpuminer-opt cpuminer-tpruvot cpuminer-nicehash You can install cpuminers using norm -- https://github.com/hmage/norm Install like this: ./norm install cpuminer-opt cpuminer-tpruvot cpuminer-nicehash It will install all neccessary dependencies too, all you need is a working compiler. After you run the benchmark, post results here so I can plug that into here -- https://hmage.net/minerstats.php#cpu_i7_4770_oc Or host your own copy of that page -- https://github.com/hmage/minerstats Title: Re: CPU Mining with 32 cores at 2,2GHz each, 768GB RAM, no GPU but free electricity Post by: SigmaTau on May 25, 2016, 01:57:50 PM Any suggestions on what to CPU-mine with it? I will check if we can run your script from a Live-USB-Image... If it works, I gladly post the results. |
