Title: selling DAO after 2016-05-28
Post by: Mbidox on May 26, 2016, 07:12:07 AM
Question 1:
After the 2016-05-28 if I bought DAO, can I then sell them without any limitations and restrictions as many as I want. For example as easy as I can sell BTC to get Doge. (The comparison only relates to the sell- Progress; I know that DAO is different to Altcoins)

Question 2:
When I sell DAO, do I get then only eth?

(I am interested in this because if there are a lot of sellers of DAO after 2016-05-28 it might be possible that this people will change the eth they receive into btc. This may be bearish for the eth price.)

bearish is possible because people are unsure whether to vote for a project yet. and to take profit, they'd exchange their DAOs to eth as they still can profit. DAO as far as i know will be on exchange by 28th so you can perhaps buy any coins with it.

More than likely you will be able to sell your DAO for BTC when it goes live, I would imagine that's what Bittrex would be doing but don't quote me on that.

When it is true what @tiggytomb says (that it is technical possible that we can directly change our DAO's into Btc) then it should not have any influence to the ETH- Price when many peoples will sell there DAO's after 2016-05-28. Right?

Of course they'd sell it but come on. 150M? it don't even need a hype.
may not surpass btc but sure thing traders will definitely grab DAOs for profit.

Are there any specific projects one will be able to vote for in the days to come?

@benthach, @electronicash, @ToScA-

Please do only talk about my
Question 1 (Do we have any limitations in selling) and
Question 2 (Is it technically possible to change DAO directly into btc on an exchange).

The last three posts are a bit off- Topic.

@smaragda, @tiggytomb

Thank you.

This is the what I am interested in seeing, how will ETH be affected once a lot of the holders of DAO sell straight away, at the moment you can only purchase DAO with ETH but once ETH is not needed to purchase DAO and you can buy them directly on exchanges how will it effect ETH?

Only a few more days to see how it works out.

Very nice, thanks!

I'm staying clear out of this, but will keep an eye on its progress.

Question 1 (Do we have any limitations in selling)

The only limitation is voting.  If you're participating in a vote, you will not be able to transfer your tokens until the voting period for that proposal ends.

Question 2 (Is it technically possible to change DAO directly into btc on an exchange).

Exchanges are free to list whatever pairs they see fit; DAO/BTC, DAO/ETH, DAO/USD, etc.

This is what I don't understand I own DAO on bittrex the question is IF I just wanted to keep the DAO token JUST keep it , am I bowned buy bittrex Voting for ME. Another words if I don't want to join a funding and just keep DAO inside my bittrex account can I do this , or am I forced to give 1/2 DAO to what ever bittrex votes for , no for get about the exit thing or what ever it's called , and get back my ETH , I don't want any ETH back I just want to Keep my DAO is this possible ?

You can only vote and get reward if you own the private key.Why would you want to keep your money on an exchange anyway? Just print a paper wallet , myetherwallet.com will allow people to vote on 28

Yes, it will be possible.  I sincerely doubt an exchange would go out of its way to vote on your behalf.  If anything, some exchanges might go through the trouble of implementing a voting option for their customers (most probably won't even bother), but not so that they do the voting for them.

Yes but I read that if you have DAO in bittrex that you are there Mersey of them voting for you because even though you have DAO inside bittrex I read that they still take 1/2 of your DAO to fund a project ,  is this true ?

I just want to KEEP and build up DAO not invest in a fund or project yet because I don't understand it yet , is it not better to just keep DAO and watch it go up in value ?  Or invest in a project and get interest I wish there would be a step by step on how to do this

Yes, I found this:
http://blog.kraken.com/post/144971320167/kraken-to-support-dao-trading

The DAO tokens will trade under the abbreviation “DAO” with the following trade pairs available at launch:

    DAO/XBT (bitcoin)
    DAO/ETH (ether)
    DAO/EUR (euro)
    DAO/USD (US dollar)
    DAO/CAD (Canadian dollar)
    DAO/GBP (British pound)
    DAO/JPY (Japanese yen)

Interesting, I don't really know how that works, DAO is built into Ethereum, people have to exchange ETH to get DAO.  How can they then sell DAO for BTC or Fiat?
Doesn't that mean there is less ETH in circulation, it is essentially burned when the sale is made.

No, it ain't true. Though every single DAO listed on Bittrex effectively puts the power of voting with them, it's highly unlikely they will do it. If they were to do it, they effectively would be spending assets which belong to their clients. Or more simply put, if they would do such a thing, think cryptsy-style like...  :D

If you have entrusted Bittrex before with your coins, then entrusting them with your DAO's is just the same  ;)

Because the DAO was already purchased with Ethers...

1) Think of it as just buying a product in a store.
2) You buy that product with USD's, Euro, or whatever fiat.
3) You can sell or trade that product, for whatever you like (other products, Bitcoins, Paypal, etc).

So translated to DAO's:
1) DAO's were put up for sale. They could only be purchased with Ether.
2) You bought some DAO's with your Ether. Now, your Ehter's spend, and those DAO's are yours.
3) You can trade these DAO's for Bitcoins, back to Ether again, fiat, etc.

i can see less volume. so the rest are holding their DAOs. how much do you think DAO is worth in the future?

80-90c would seem possible. Long-term nobody has a clue. I think most want to keep them for voting.

Many will hold to see where this goes.  It received a lot of press outside the bitcoin world and it is certainly and interesting concept.

I'm hopeful it will be more than 90cents seeing how limited DAO is. if voting is going to be vital, then i think the value should skyrocket.
I don't really get the concept much but voting is just what i understand, beside I only have 255DAOs to which i bought with my 2.5 eth.  ;D

90c is about what I expect short-term and by that I mean months and not the usual mindset here. Long-term it could do rather well.

Could be wrong, but i think we all can sell for a BTC profit atm  (well those that bought in at 1ETH : 100DAO)

i've put in a Limit order on for a ~4x    0.0009BTC/DAO

What do you guys think ETH price will be over next few days?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ether price would come down a bit, now the pre-sale of the DAO has ended...

The DAO locked some Ethereum, but the new Ethereum is still be produced. So there is selling pressure.

If you are concerned that your current exchange is going to do something you don't want with your DAO, why are you keeping your DAO there? Move it back to your wallet and hold on to it so you can exert what control you have.

My DAO is in my wallet/contract and will remain there until I decide what I want to do with it.

Cheers,
