I am trying the mining thing, I don't completly understand. Ultimately, it comes down to whether or not you personally are paying your electric bill. In addition, the work of maintaining the mining software may not be worth $4 a month to you. That depends on how much time you spend an how much you value your time. You might even find it fun, and so it would be worth doing for free.
