Title: Will this rise hold?
Post by: the_poet on May 27, 2016, 01:14:24 PM
At $475, we're experiencing a significant rise over the last weeks or even months, but the crucial question is: will the price hold or will it go back to the usual levels?

In my opinion, with the halving event on few weeks, any positive news about bitcoin; or bad news about european banks, yuan devaluation, or american economy could start a rally on bitcoin price.

it's an unexpected price increase for sure. exchange price in china has gone over $500 while non chinese exchanges are still at least $20 behind. i wonder if they will catch up within 24 hours if the price doesn't go down again.

I really think the price will hold this time, lots of reasons for this including the halving, I think we could see 460 as a new bottom if there happens to be some kind of retrace here.

The rise is going to stop eventually and that is going to happen when the halving is going to come in and changes the price up. I am not sure what the price is going to be after the halving but it has to be good.

The rise has stopped. Now it's hovering around $670. We could wait a few more hours / a day to see where it goes from here.

You may set your own target of your profit so you can maintain on how long will you hold your bitcoin

For me, whenever bitcoin get increase or decrease, I will keep hold until it reach $1000 / btc

I have my selling targets, but I'm tempted to buy again. Do you have any plans of ever buying again?

It is just a temporary stop in rise of prices. We will continue to see more price rise in the coming month because of the halving. The question is what will be the maximum price before the price fall will start. We shall have to watch carefully on how the markets reacts to the situation. I believe if you are holding for selling on highest price, make your target and when the price reaches your target limit, sell them rather than waiting for more increase in the price and avoid being greedy.

I think no can say with 100 % what will happen after this halving. I would like bitcoin to stay high, and there is chance for that in my opinion. Btc community is constantly growing, more sites and shops started to accept btc as payment method.
In the end we will see what will happen for few month's, I don't think this train will last longer then that.

Nothing is assured, as well none know whether the ongoing increase holds or not. In my opinion surely halving gives a big increase and after halving days price stabilizes for a short term and then continues to decrease. This decrease finally sustain around a good price.

If you already sell if it reachs $800 and youre bought in at $400 thats already free 1 bitcoin.

If the prices ever fall back before the halving scenario - which is just a safe bet unless the exchange takes in overwhelming amount of buy orders which I dont see.

Unless I see reddit posts on something based on events that change to promote more orders in.

I know some peopel who have already cashed  out. But not me. The correction is taking place while the halving is sill 1 month away. Also I don't think all is about chinese money coming in, since the rise started saturday, and become strong on monday.

Yes that person should be reported for off-topic posts and just in general low quality posting probably for their sign campaign. About the price, it has been rallying very quickly and so needs a few days to recover after each support line is broken upwards and people take profits. Whether the halving has a massive dump or not I don't know but if it does even the months after it the price will rise steadily.

Yah, it's just people taking profits.  I'm very curious about where the price is going--I'm well aware that the halving is coming up, but I did not expect us to be this high this fast.  It's a bit breathtaking, and market crashes generally happen after a period of euphoria.  And that's the best way to describe this, market euphoria or bitcoin euphoria.  Kinda like 2013 all over again.

That's nothing. Just a quick little correction of like 2% where some people are taking profits on their table instead of going for the gold and holding for the last possible moment. It will rise imo there's no way it can't. It's held nicely.

I also agree with you. I don't think that ill will be back down to 650$ so easily because many ppl are still holding their btc tightly but I expect a huge dump once it's price touch 1000$ if it will reach that price this year.

We are hoping that it will rise for a long time but the bad thing is that we cant control the value and that is bad because it is sometimes really hard to predict for what will happen and that is the problem of Bitcoin.
But you can see now that it keeps rising so maybe the moment will be soon that you can sell it and that should be perfect.

Maybe the SegWit is too difficult for the Core developers. I think they should just increase it to 2MB, that is just one line of code.

Just don't panic to sell we will see sooner the real reason why the price is decreases and i think this is the best time again to buy while the price is low..
So other people out there this is your chance to buy more bitcoins before its profitable if the price is increase again back to 700 value and 800 value..

Your friend's guess is as good as anybody's. After all, we are just mere speculators as to how the price behaves. I really feel that if ever it goes down continuously, it is going to hold the $550 barrier.

The bitcoin price has risen about one or two dollars since yesterday, and bitcoin is finally on the path to recovery.
It’s hard to predict where it will go, and many of us are completely shocked when a massive drop like what occurred in January takes place.

The price can decay after the halving... it can be over night if it wanted.

But usually when a price dips its a gradual fall you see within a month from my experience, I can be wrong but who knows.

The price recovery is just as fast, it went from $700 close to $800 at one point so anything towards $700 would be still good.

most probably you are right about this, people will soon start buying their bitcoins because of the incoming halving as they will expect the price to grow and make money a lot

i think this upcoming rise will hold for a while because miners will have to make more profit from bitcoins after the block reward halving that is going to happen in a few days

That's correct and the thing is bubble's collapse, the same thing we say in 2013.
Sometime a bubble can even break or kill an asset. That's why we should seek a steady grow.

One thing that we can't control is the price movement. The volatility scares some away but also attracts some. But recently, we have seen that the price has been consolidating at the $630 to $660 levels. I would love for it to go below $600 before trying to break the $700 resistance.

I just wish the bitcoin price to rise 3 to 5% each months. There is no need for it to rise too quickly.

Well, $680 has come and gone, and Bitcoin could potentially be raised near the $1,000 range and beyond. if bitcoin were to hover at $700 for some time, that could still be a huge improvement over where it stood last year, this kind of stability wouldn’t be so terrible for the time being and if breakout occurs it can happen around $800 to 900 level.

I am already happy that the current price is holding its position very well. I actually like the current stability in the price, so I don't mind it if this continues for another month or so.

The bitcoin price have been found stable for a long time, from the day after halving. Now from few days back the price has started to fall. This might continue till days to have a steep increase.

I think so. The price rise of the bitcoin will be very sustainable as that is supported by the mass adoption.

Well, now I think the price of bitcoin last long at the price of $ 650 more, but if the price goes up to $ 700 +, bitcoin prices may be up and down quickly. This must happen if the bitcoin price rise above $ 700, it's because many people are targeting to sell their bitcoin bitcoin when prices exceed $ 700.

It could start going down from in the next couple of weeks. The smaller mining farms would have to sell more bitcoins because their profits were cut in half because of the halving. At the same time buying is not as strong lately.

the lower difficulty as will happen very soon, will attract other miners to put their machines to work. that way the lower difficulty won't be here for a long time. it will get compensated.

the lower difficulty will only happen if we assume the miners are losing money instead of making huge profit (which is not right) because there has been no change in the has power so far and the difficulty is steady and rising.

The price has been on a marginal downward trend recently. Whether this accelerates or not, only time will tell. If the price drops a bit further, buying interest may pick up again.

To be honest i find the current time very risky. And I would in no way just by bitcoin, without any research.

yes that is a fact that there is  so much potential in the in the price of bitcoin and hope that it will rise so high, and will cross the 1000 USD level very soon. and hope that the present fall down will stop at the 550$ level. looking some support to the price of bitcoin at that price. therefore no need to worry, just stay calm ans patient hope that every thing will be ok very soon.

I think it is because of bitfinex once again, just like the last month they gone down and it left bad effects on the price , and today they stopped all the transactions from and to the bitfinex and that is why we are seeing a bigger dump in the last hour

And trading in another exchange based on that frozen bitfinex price...
I was like, hey, bitfinex is steady at 604 and yobit is low at 585 so it is time to buy ;D

currently you can see that the price of bitcoin in continuously falling down and there is difficult to predict that at what stage the price of bitcoin will stop from falling down any more, but i can still hope that in next few days bitcoin will recover its previous position and will start rising again, hope that this panic selling will not effect the image of bitcoin.

As the anticipation grows, the very fact that a section of Bitcoin community consisting of developers and miners meeting in private is a matter of concern. A well-informed mass of people allowed to decide what is best for them will help the Bitcoin ecosystem to move forward, without having to depend on a small group to decide what’s best for millions of users.

Okay, it didn't work twice in a row.  Just come out of hospital again after 10 days, but it went down this time.  Seems causality is not in effect here.

the same for me, i think right now is a perfect time to buy as much bitcoins as possible in order to benefit a lot in the future because the price is soon going to grow a lot

To be honest i find the current time very risky. And I would in no way just by bitcoin, without any research.
The rise did not hold and we are now on our way back again.
of course it is really risky to hold your bitcoins right now, in my opinion the price might be dropping really fast and i think that anything might happen

The bitcoin price might drop very fast during a major bad event, but the price will recover very fast as well.

That happened in the last week due to the Bitfinex hack. The price dropped to $466 and recovered to $596.

People and analysts say this is due to 'trader optimism.' IMO this is the aftermath of the halving, like this level would be the new baseline and movements around would be buffered accordingly.

I think the bitcoin price will rise to $600 in the next couple of weeks. After that, the year end price could be $800.

your prediction is most probably going to be correct, in my opinion the price is going to be growing up really fast soon, i hope that a new all time high will be reached in like a year

It is not difficult to reach all time high of $1200 some time next year. I think it might even happen in July 2017.

I think so too, the bitcoin price will keep slowly rising again. I am pretty sure at year end we will have higher levels.

Price is rising slowly at a moment and lets hope the trend continues in coming months too, and if it happens then we will see much higher price at the end of the year.

I think the bitcoin price will hold around the current level for the next few day. Then it might rise to $600 or higher.

Yeah I think it will keep on playing below $600 for next few days and it will cross $600 may be in next week and if price continue to rise then we will see the price of $700 in next month.

I don't mind the price staying around the current level. Everything is better than seeing the price go down again. Also, this offers people a good opportunity to keep accumulating coins at these prices.

The current price is quite cheap and i think price needs to rebound again to above 700$. And on 650$ to 700$ range, price may got pretty stable before another pump.

The price is on recovering phase at this stage, this is very good achievement in less than a week it got recovered after a massive dump, now it has chance to surpass the $600 and get more stable price in new range than it would continue to its actual $650.

Yeah I think this is the right time to buy some coins as it is expected that price will go higher in future and it will help us in making some good profits.

dont be that sure about it, in my opinion the price might be dropping down really easily and that would be terrible as this dump would possibly go even lower than the last one

We really don't know what will  happen in future, either price will go higher or lower we cannot have control on it, so the best thing is try to play with it in short term.

The market hot spot is in the Ethereum. That might not be so hot in October. So the bitcoin price might rise in October.

The price will hold until the end of 2016 i guess price of bitcoin will rise gradually due to miners demand (old theory demand & supply)

The bitcoin price is trading around $566 at the moment. It is consolidating after the recent event. It might rise later.

I also trade the Ethereum, the ETH. I have made some profit recently. But I do not trade the ETC. I am afraid of the time bomb.

yes it is so, as the price of bitcoin is so stable again and is trading just below 600 USD, hope that the demand of bitcoin will increase in next few days and so the price of bitcoin will start increasing and hope that this time bitcoin will even cross the 1200 USD level at the end of this year.
