Title: Greatest amount you have lost on a Ponzi?
Post by: jackg on May 27, 2016, 06:44:47 PM
Thought it would be pretty interesting to find out the amount people have wasted on these schemes.
This can be either knowingly or unknowingly investing in a ponzi. I'd suggest avoiding ponzis that are not yet proven as their profits may change as a result.
I know there were some great losses from emicoin last year of more than 60[tc] in some cases!

If you feel this is a repeated thread, don't hesitate to pm (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send)

Actually you should make it more clear, you mean ponzi like bitcoin doubler or cheating cloud mining or you mean scam coins as I see you are also posting emicoin. Anyway this would be a nice thread to put in the service discussion area if its not gambling related. There it will spark much more discussion as I have seen people are really devoted against these things and this is good for this forum and bitcoin itself.

Anything that follows the Google definition of a ponzi.
A scheme that uses profits from later investors to fund previous investors.

I took onboard the advice and think this was where you meant to move it?

I obviously mean how much people lose on one invidual ponzi as well, not the total of ones that they have done, for if I said that, I would be in profit.

Actually there are tons of them where people lost money, I remember Scrypt.cc and Hashprofit did steal a lot of money both combined, and both were promising false cloud mining operations. Now there are a lot of like those websites trying to do the same and people still believing this shit.

There were also sites like carbon7.cc which lasted for a year and must have made loads of profit!
There are many sites that can be used as ponzis, and I am unsure as to what the point of that statement was?

Ooh, you were lucky like me! Some users lost loads of Bitcoins venturing into the Ponzi environment. Mostly done as newbies to ponzi schemes.

Ore-mine.  Fking ore-mine.  I should've known better, but because it was around for so long and hadn't gone under yet I decided to roll the dice and lost 0.2 late into the game.  It's not a huge amount, but still it's money I shouldnt've lost if I was thinking clearly.

Why humans are still greedy and belive in such snowball systems it's obovious that you will lose your money anytime soon!
So use your brain and stay away from that and you will not lose your money better use it for something nice or safe it for later.

NONE for the last 3-4 years. I ve been very careful with that big time after I lost a few bucks during my early internet investment phase where I played some HYIPs. After that, I ve learned to ask questions before I invest. Who, what, where and what collateral. If I do not get answers, I pass on this.

20$, and never got scam anymore with ponzi scheme.
I do research first before dealing with someone or service. It's ridiculous see people still investing on ponzi scheme, although they know if the site is based on ponzi scheme ::)

I've lost about 0.06BTC in a ponzi. It was the time when i know about bitcoin for the first time and i thought ponzi is a real investment program and also invested on it, within few days they gone with my money. After that i never invested even a single penny on ponzi.

Had lost around 0.05 BTC on coinsdouble.com someway around 2 years ago when i was just a newbie. Without knowing the likely outcome of it just went ahead like a noob and deposited  in order to earn some btc.But i never got it back. That was a hard lesson for me .

During the start of investor-based-game period of 2015 (2014?), I participated in a few ponzis and even kind of "vouched" for them. I stopped not because I lost my Bitcoin but because a lot of new ponzis is spawning up. And most of them shut down within a month. Anyway, I believe I have lost more than 0.01 Bitcoin but no more than 0.1 Bitcoin.

Well you can't blame then. It comes with experience. When I first saw some offers from previously legit companies offering 'cloud mining' I was surprised too.
As their offers were pretty good, but not on the level of 'totally unbelievable high bullshit ultra return profit' that was the reason I fell for it.

I do not know exactly...perhaps 0.02 or so...
I have been lucky at the start...I have often won good profit...so I could re-invest other where...
But I have definitively stoped investing in ponzi shemes...
I do not regret...it was funny.
Nowadays...I just try ponzi shemes for free...Globally I loose "my accounts"...but time to time i could withdrawn...I have so if I lose...only lost time...but it was fun to try for free.

I do not put in the same basket "ponzi sites" and "scam sites" because you can be scammed with "no ponzi shemes".

I had lost around $900 in the beginning of 2015
They are not actually a ponzi but their services and products smells like a ponzi
They failed to fulfill the promised they made with us which caused the share price to fall by 10 times and made me to lose 90% of my investment

They are still in function but with another CEO

Seriously?  Pretty much everyone knows ALL of those doubling sites are scams for a long time now and you put in 8 bitcoins?  I'm not even sure what to say.  Research every move you make online first before comitting to anything.  I'm sure google is filled with scam reports of all the various different well known sites.

I never invested big amount of bitcoin into ponzi. I only investing about 100k-500k satoshi, because I know that every ponzi ends with scam, so Don't want to loose big amount of money. And now Irarely investing into ponzi schemes, because I don't wan't to feed scamers.

I also tried it to be honest, back in the days there where not a lot of them and no one really talked about it so I tried it and got scammed.
I lost around the 0.8 bitcoin so it was very hard for me to step over this.

I lost 0.1 btc to cloudmining.website. I was extremely naive, thinking I could make a profit. I did however get paid out about 0.06. In the end I lost 0.04, but it was a great lesson.

I lost ~25$ worth of bitcoin when I joined MPA. I deposited 52$ and surfed 10 ads every day to keep the money coming. After months, I had a lot of shares, and all ready to earn some profits, then they just had a "PayPal issue". I did get 27$ though on some occasional cash outs. I didn't know a lot about Ponzi back then. MPA was promoted a lot in our facebook group and when I had a lot of money out of PTCs, I decided to join MPA. Such a waste of time, money and effort. Never trust any investment sites. The site is still on until now even after the "PayPal issue" scam that they did.

My biggest lost was 0.01btc which I deposited on a cloudmining site. and never got back them.. 0.01btc isn't a big amount . so in that manner I am luck because I didn't lost any big money on ponzi.
I've lost some small amount of money on bitcoin doubler sites also when I was a newbie and earned 0.001btc with claiming faucets in 1 month. I've deposited my one months earning (0.001 lolz) to that doubler site and lost them..
I consider that lost my biggest lost because I did so much hard work to earn 0.001btc. and when I lost that I got so upset for so many days,.
but now 0.001 is nothing for me.

I have lost an instant 0.01 btc before and at that time it was all my btc that I earned from faucets ,I just came to a doubler sites from which I saw from btcclicks ads.

I saw there's a promotion of if I deposit 0.01 you will get 0.1 instantly and I really need money on that time so I deposited the said amount and after confirming the transaction I refreshed the page to see my transaction but it is not there and I saw that the promo increased to 0.05 and get 0.5.

So that kind of site is totally a scam,if someone deposit the promo will raised

The template of the site has a logo of ANONYMOUS on it.so better watch out.

I lost around BTC0.7 in Coinsdouble. It was really really stupid. I was still new to the bitcoin scene back then and I didn't know about all the scams and ponzi schemes going on within it.

I fell for it very stupidly, thinking that it would pay. But later I realized that it was a ponzi, and I never invested in one again. Better learn the lesson late than never.

Yeah all you can really do is live and learn from your mistakes.  You're only dumb if you keep repeating the same ones and expect a different result.  Take it as a loss and move on, that's how life is in many ways.

sorry for your loss but maybe you get biggest lesson about it. from now stay away from site like that and will be better if you tell other people who want to join / Invest in site with ponzi scheme to stay away from it
