This graph shows only the mining nodes. Someone around Shanghai area raised a nice spike, probably going solo with some Avalons.

Updated:

Some months later and an enourmous ammount of hashrate spikes now in Beijing. This wasnt there last week. What could this be?

Also miners in Korea and Japan this time, I can remember Taiwan showing some activity not while ago.

That's a Google lab program or something? I remember downloading something a while ago and viewing the globe but can't remember what it was.

What exactly are just the nodes?

Nodes talk to each other relaying transactions throughout the network.

Took me more than a few seconds to realize the continents were the darker color. I am not a very clever man. :-\

Same here...but then again those spikes whouldn't make much sense in the sea  :P
