Share your opinion.. price from local bitcoin is already 600 above.. how about altcoin? looks like altcoin will stay remain..

First comer advantage. And now its being pumped, hoping more will jump the train, but only fools joined and will join above 450$ since profit prospects are low.

Bitcoin is not altcoin it is a main crypto coin all the other are altcoins,so I cannot give you answer why it is the best altcoin because it is not a clone coin or altcoin..

hard but not impossible to unseat bitcoin.  although it has its flaws, it still is the dominant player with the widest network effect.  If another coin can begin getting real business adoption then it will fall from #1.  I think over time there will be multiple coins/blockchains with different uses, with bitcoin slowly fading

Bitcoin is an altcoin because it's an alternative to fiat. Made up categories like "it is a main crypto coin" is more of an opinion not really a reason.


Bitcoin has the first-mover advantage (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-mover_advantage) which translated to it's current value. But bitcoin's technological prowess is mediocre at best when compared to other alts in the same category.  

    

when said the best means no one can compared right now, and simply because it is already been established and embrace by many, unlike alt which just far from development they only relied with btc popularity before they can achieved their purpose. and for me bitcoin is the deciding factor of any alt so that's why is still the best alt for any currency for me.

To me it seems simple. Bitcoin has 7 years behind it! In terms of crypto-currencies it's the ONLY proven and safe store of value. It's earned peoples trust as a network. The rest of these alt-coins are nothing but wild promises that probably can't ever be fulfilled. Combine that with delusional speculation by average people who can't possibly carry out proper due diligence even if it is Open Source.

That's not to say that some alt-coins won't eventually become useful, trusted and reliable networks themselves, but at this point there isn't a single one with the exception of Litecoin that is of much use. And I only say that about LTC because it's basically a clone of BTC and it's been around for almost as long.

With the amount of insanity going on in alt-coins this past year (ETH, DAO, LISK, etc.) I am starting to get a bad feeling about it all. A lot of these things are gonna blow up and a lot of money will be lost. The unfortunate thing is that it may hurt BTC temporarily as well.

Bitcoin has a great future and many stores are now accepting bitcoin thats why bitcoin is the best than altcoin if you see the price today from 430 and now the price is 530 its increase $100.. bitcoin still exist never change or replace..

bitcoin is the father and altcoins are his son. there is no head to head comparison between bits and alts. Bitcoin is always the superior one.

Bitcoin is a model T, the Altcoins are the newer models.

The price of bitcoin at the moment is down to capital flight from China. They don't have many other coins on chinese exchanges, apart from bitcoin and litecoin. Litecoin's price is also rising...

So far none of those sons inherited their father's rate so they are still very far from their father's value and features so many altcoins are coming but nobody comes close to even become a threat to Bitcoin..

Thanks for that point. I was wondering why Litecoin sometimes bucked the downtrend suffered by the other major alts when Bitcoin rose.

That is true. Bitcoin's eco-system is much more mature than any other alts because it is the first. But as it stands now that's all its going for it. There are better non-crypto payment systems like credit cards, Apple pay etc. If we want crypto to go mainstream it has to be able to compete with fiat payment systems. What's needed is better crypto. Crypto with the performance similar or better to that of card cards. This is something bitcoin lacks. At present some alternatives to bitcoin are filling in that technical gap from the start. If mass adoption is the goal, alternatives to bitcoin imho shows more promise.

No offense the father son analogy really does not fit. Coins are not biological beings.

CoinBase will be allowing LTC and other coins  to be purchased directly for US$ soon, when that happens BTC will face competition, as up to now the direct Fiat to Crypto conversion was reserved for BTC, that is changing and you will see a paradigm shift with it.

FYI:
It like up to now BTC was the only auto allowed on the track , so it always won the race, since others were not allowed to directly compete.
Coinbase will be changing that, and the newer faster coins with the lower transaction fees will start taking victories away from BTC.
Just a matter of time.  ;)

Highest prices for BTC is directly from the Chinese Yuan, at exchanges with no trading fees.
Chinese Miners are lining up the suckers before they drop the market.
Chinese control over 60% of all new BTC generated, pump the price, get suckers to place support orders and sometime in the next 25 days, sell and profit.
But the market will be lower after they sell.  :P

Bitcoin is the most well-known cryptocurrency and there are over 500 other cryptocurrencies out there, although many fade out after a short time in circulation, some are considered potential challengers to Bitcoin’s reign.

But none of the alt coins comes near to challenge the bitcoin, even some of bitcoin features are obsolete compared to the newly innovated altcoins, the reason is that bitcoin have a great infrastructure and  also have a solid and still growing fan base compared to altcoins that are still in development of trust from investors.

But for some, Altcoins play a vital role in the cryptocurrency world, encouraging further decentralisation, innovation and competition.

Bitcoin will die sooner or later,its way too outdated, cache size problem, massive centralization in china. Think of it this way: after the halving around 90% of the hash will be generated in china by very few individuals. What will happen after a farm will shutdown for any reason ?

If BTC is very expensive does not mean it is the best. There are many altcoins with superior tech than BTC.

Yeah your right but the problem is the adoption.. bitcoin is already publish and many supporters and many adoption about bitcoin.. even there's a altcoin with superior tech bitcoin also have it because its already adopted and more adoption will come.. more store accepted it and more use will come.

Because it is the first crypto-currency around, and every other coin is an alt-coin which makes them look like cheaper copies of Bitcoin. It is because Bitcoin is the very first coin, every other is a copy trying to achieve what Bitcoin has and they are alternatives to Bitcoin.

I don't get why ppl don't understand and can't imagine that not only one crypto project will exist in future.

Or do we have only dollar as fiat money? no!

Same will be with crypto, Bitcoin is original but there will be also another projects and all who talking about the only one, they need professional help.

Bitcoin is always the best because its already adopted and more adopters are creating more useful site to use bitcoin in the future.. also more store right now are accepting bitcoin.. just like steam they are now accepting bitcoin as your payment..

Bitcoin has the widest adoption.

I personally feel that some so called copy paste alts are now better then BTC (being more freely developed), though despite bold claims I've not seen yet any real innovation in written from scratch alts.

I think if the bitcoin idea came after these so called 2.0 etc coins, people would be hailing bitcoin as the most innovative.

However its 'currency' people seem to think its like a mission to mars and most so called innovative alts are just adding complication, which is more a barrier to entry.

At the moment it terms of use as a currency people may be surprised to see that shells are more widely adopted as a proper currency then any crypto  :o
