Title: is private internet access vpn a scam?
Post by: NiceSoft12 on May 30, 2016, 12:35:51 AM
Seems like dns leak protect is not really doing anything for pia. When i go to dnsleaktest.com it shows that my regular isp is working straight up. shouldn't it not show my regular isp at all?

Dns leak is a common happening for vpn provider. You could force your systems to use google dns 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4

Pia has started showing ISPs from whatever county I am connected to. For instance if I connect to Germany it will show "leaseweb Germany GmbH" as the ISP or if I connect to the Netherlands I get "NForce Entertainment B.V.". I have already submitted a ticket to PIA but haven't received a reply. I have also tried manually setting my Local area connections to static ip addresses and Google's DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 and still the same. Right now i`m testing different dedicated ip vpns (https://www.bestvpn.co/dedicated-ip-vpn/) and will share the result

Not a scam unless its changed recently.

I used them a lot in the past and the only details it would show is the VPN endpoint which is exactly what should happen.

If the details of your own ISP are leaking then you really need to look into your settings.  Check their FAQs and ask for help.  I found their support fairly helpful.

Sure as hell dont force Google DNS.  Thats trying to force a leak.....

What's wrong with that and hasn't it always been like this?
As long as it's not your ISP showing, you should have nothing to worry about. Unless I'm missing something.

maybe flush/clear your DNS cache and restart your browser, sometimes i got this too when using vpn,the DNS wasn't changed even after enabling my VPN which include DNS service but after restart it,it working well

this is what i am doing to change my IP from my ISP. and if i use vpn, i think my IP will change into a new IP from the vpn. maybe the OP will need to find the other vpn to change his/her IP into new IP. i suggest if you really want to use vpn, try to use cyberghost or zenmate, that two sites give option to use their vpn for free.

and if you are lucky, then you can found an activation code which can give you access into all their country in that vpn.

I heard the hidemyass is really good at hiding IP, and you can select the country you want, I think they have up to 20 or so options. You are allowed to use their services for  free for the first 30 days.

Actually no they are not they are shocking and not even near anonymous.  They log basically everything you do!  They have handed over user data more than once and have said they will again.

Hidemyass will SellYourAss out
