I misplaced my seed and I do remember some of the seed, the order of 4 words and I think 2 words, as well as remembering another word in there. I'm not 100% but I do think those 7 words are correct. I have the wallet loaded up through Electrum, not much bitcoin in there but I don't remember my password either. Is there any chance of me recovering my seed and being able to send the remaining bitcoin elsewhere? Thanks. Good thing there isnt much btc in there. Title: Re: Can only remember 7 words of seed Post by: minifrij on May 30, 2016, 05:28:55 PM Since Electrum's seeds are made up of (AFAIK 2048) (https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/lib/wordlist/english.txt) Dictionary words it would be possible to brute-force it, however it would probably take a while (and may not be worth it for a small amount of Bitcoin).
Do you remember the order of the 7 words that you know? If so, that would likely make it significantly faster (It would have to check 20485 combinations rather than 204812). |
