Title: General Help Questions
Post by: wallet4bitcoin on May 30, 2016, 03:08:01 PM
Can Anyone assist me with the following 2 questions:

1) What's the process of removing negative (or positive feedback) either that I have left for someone
or that someone has left form me and they change there mind?
Or can this only be done by mods & Admin?

2) Is there a way to search within a specific board. When I use the search box in top right it returns results form whole forum?

Maybe other members could use this thread to post their questions too?

1) You can only remove feedback you've left. Just go the profile where you left it and you'll see a "Delete" link. Only the person who left feedback on your profile can remove it, you can't and admins won't.

2) Click on the magnifying glass next to the search box:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search;advanced

I would suggest to use google for searching through the forum threads.
It will save you some time as this little search engine on our forum is a bit "handicapped".
Safety reasons dictate not to allow moderators to tinker with trust feedback.
Only people directly engaged can moderate their feeds. I think its great and it works!
I'm sure you noticed that if there are some questions in need of answers a new thread is created, no matter
how many times same questions where asked :). But a major Q&A thread would be nice.

Thanks EcuaMobi for your prompt & concise answer to both my Qs - perfect.

Yes I had noticed that. I also noticed that if I want a simple question answered like 'can I remove feedback I've left for someone?', searching on the forum or google or going scanning threads is not efficient or affective. I understand the interactive forum/community spirit of posting questions & having them answered but it does seem a little but it would be far more efficient if there was a dedicated  Help section, with many locked Q&As such as e.g. trustlist, feedback, posting, activity.

With that in mind I have one more Q about posting.
1) I'm using the command e.g.
Quote from: poptok1  link=topic= 1492363
but I see other users posting User & date what is the Html for inserting that in a post?

Click the quote button on the right side besides the head of each message, you'll get the prewritten quote code.
For your post right now, that would be:

Code:
[quote author=wallet4bitcoin link=topic=1492363.msg15023908#msg15023908 date=1464635289]
-snip text-
[/quote]

Of course you can type that "per hand" aswell, but it's much more convenient to just use the quote button.
Code:
[quote author=poptok1  link=topic=1492363.msg15021568#msg15021568 date=1464621651]
[/quote]
(Full link to the post itself, not just the thread page [you get that by clicking on the #Number besides a post], and times are in unix timestamps (http://www.unixtimestamp.com/).)

If you want to share code, better use [code ][/code ] tags instead of altering the code itself.

Thanks Lutpin.

Code:
[table][tr][td]SMF[/td]

[td]Code[/td][/tr][/table]
You can use "|" as seperator between table lines and [hr ] as seperator between table rows.

|SMF|Bulletin|

|Board|Code|

For example like above, which would be the following bbcode:

Code:
[table]
[tr][td]|[/td][td]SMF[/td][td][/td][td]|[/td]
[td]Bulletin[/td][td]|[/td][/tr]
[hr]
[tr][td]|[/td][td]Board[/td][td]|[/td]

Ok I'm confused. I tried building a table for my thread, it looked good on preview but live it didn't.
I think it would help me if I knew what the commands
Code:
[tr] & [td] stood for

                             |-20% Discount Rates |  (Standard Rate) |
1 Screen SD            |$6.40 btc                |    ($8)               |
2 Screen HD            | $8 btc                   |    ($10)             |
4 Screen Ultra HD    | $9.50 btc                |    ($12)             |
Code:
[br][table][tr][td]      |[/td][td][color=green]-20% Discount Rates[/color] [/td][td][/td][td]|[/td]
[td][color=red]  (Standard Rate)[/color][/td][td] |[/td][/tr][/table][table][tr][td][b]1 Screen SD[/b]            |[/td][td][color=green]$6.40 btc[/color]                [/td][td][/td][td] |[/td]
[td][color=red]    ($8)[/color][/td][td]               |[/td][/tr][/table]
[table][tr][td][b]2 Screen HD[/b]            |[/td][td][color=green] $8 btc[/color]                 [/td][td][/td][td]  |[/td]
[td][color=red]    ($10)[/color][/td][td]             |[/td][/tr][/table]
[table][tr][td][b]4 Screen Ultra HD[/b]    |[/td][td][color=green] $9.50 btc[/color]                [/td][td][/td][td]|[/td]
[td][color=red]    ($12)[/color][/td][td]             |[/td][/tr][/table]

Title: Re: General Help Questions

Took me some time, this is how I usually do it:

Code:
[table][tr]
[td][/td]
[td]
[center]

[b]1 Screen SD[/b]
[b]2 Screen HD[/b]
[b]4 Screen Ultra HD[/b][/center][/td]
[td][center]|
|
|
|[/center][/td]
[td][center][color=green]-20% Discount Rates[/color]
[color=green]$6.40 btc
$8 btc
$9.50 btc[/color][/center][/td]
[td][center]|
|
|
|[/center][/td]
[td][center][color=red]  (Standard Rate)
    ($8)
    ($10)
    ($12)[/color][/center][/td]
[td][center]|
|
|
|[/center][/td][/tr][/table]

Quote from: Example

1 Screen SD
2 Screen HD
4 Screen Ultra HD
|
|
|
|
-20% Discount Rates
$6.40 btc
$8 btc
$9.50 btc
|
|
|
|
 (Standard Rate)
    ($8)
    ($10)
    ($12)
|
|
|
|

edit: tweaked to make it easier to understand. An extra row in the beginning is the workaround for the table-that-looks-properly-only-on-preview bug.
Simply remove the center opening and closing tags if you don't need it, especially for the first column.

I think it would help me if I knew what the commands
Code:
[tr] & [td] stood for

[tr] stands for table row.
[td] stands for table column.

Thanks - I really appreciate your time & efforts!  :) :)
I've left you some feedback.

A new Q - I've noticed on this thread nobody's trust ratings show up including my own.
What determines whether a person's trust ratings show up on post?
When I look at these 2 threads both started by me.
On This one I can see them

But yet this we're on I can't??

You only see trust in the marketplace section

That's not entirely correct, trust is also shown inside the Trading Discussion Forum (and it's subforums Reputation & Scam Accusation).

Can someone give you a negative trust just because you posted something he doesn't agree with?

Can you receive a negative post not for scamming but because a forum member does not like you and wants to smear you?

Title: Re: General Help Questions

(again off-topic, but the thread title "general help questions" might be misleading...)

Can someone give you a negative trust just because you posted something he doesn't agree with?
Trust is not moderated. Whilst that doesn't corresponds on how trust is supposed to be used (the guidlines given by theymos), as everyone is free to use the trust system as they like,
yes, it's possible to receive negative (and positive) trust for all kind of things.
How reputable (-> "trusted") the person that leaves such ratings however is, is a totally new, different thing to look onto.

Can you receive a negative post not for scamming but because a forum member does not like you and wants to smear you?
Same answer, however, none (experienced) will fall for such feedback, most people just ignore feedback that is obviously "fake"/retaliatory.

After weeks of being on the forum just found the thread for Frequently asked questions.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0#post_faq (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0#post_faq)

However it did not answer my following 3 general questions relating to my signature.
1) On my profile page it states:
Quote
As your member rank increases, you can use more types of styling in your signature, and your signature can be longer. See the stickies in Meta for more info. Max 150;
Well I went to Meta stickies & couldn't find the sticky relating to signatures.

2) Where can I test my signature safely to preview it before applying.
3) Where/when will it show up - in all posts or just in market place? (I know it will not show up if member has 'block signatures' checked)

Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0)

Signature restrictions

There are restrictions on signatures, based on your activity/rank.

- Newbie: No styling (including links) allowed. Max 50 characters.
- Jr. Member: Links allowed. Max 150 characters.
- Member: Unlimited length.
- Full: Color allowed.
- Sr. Member: Size allowed
- Hero: Background color allowed

2) Where can I test my signature safely to preview it before applying.
You can't.
You can try working on it in a post/PM draft and preview it that way,
but in the end, it comes down to working on the live signature most of the times.

3) Where/when will it show up - in all posts or just in market place? (I know it will not show up if member has 'block signatures' checked)
Signatures aren't like trust, they are shown below each and every post you make, unless the user got signatures disabled or uses the signature ad block script/similar blocking methods.

Great. That's all clear.
As a Junior member, how do I add a link to a marketplace post I have, would I need to put the whole URL in?
Or is there a way with BBcode to embed the link within a single word?
Thanks.

Hi, you would need to put the entire url in.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1492674

Possible workaround:

URL shortening:
I used a url shortening service https://goo.gl/, and reduced it to https://goo.gl/1BU4g3
When I wore it on my signature, it worked though I was half expecting a [suspicious link removed]

Character count:
To be reduced to 150.
Currently 'LEGITIMATE NON HACKED US NETFLIX ACCOUNTS -20% LIFETIME DISCOUNT +1ST MONTH FREE +2YR WARRANTY NEW OR CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS SAVE $50+' is 131 characters.
19 more.

Solution:
Without removing text, the best we could do is:
Code:
[url=goo.gl/1BU4g3]LEGITIMATE NON HACKED US NETFLIX ACCOUNTS -20% LIFETIME DISCOUNT +1ST MONTH FREE +2YR WARRANTY NEW OR CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS SAVE $50+
assuming you won't get a suspicious link removed error. :D

Alternative:
Code:
[url=https://goo.gl/1BU4g3]LEGITIMATE US NETFLIX ACCOUNTS -20% LIFETIME DISCOUNT +1ST MONTH FREE +2YR WARRANTY NEW OR CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS SAVE $50+

signature allowance increases - thanks for your time & input.
