Title: Raffle for bigger items?
Post by: Blazed on May 31, 2016, 04:08:04 PM
Seems like raffles are all the rage these days. Is anyone interested in a raffle for an expensive coin? Would people want tickets for something like a Cas 10BTC or a Cas 1BTC?

Something like .5BTC per ticket or more tickets @ .25BTC ea?

I guess that might be good , keeping the winner pays the funding(extra 10) ofcourse..

But 0.5BTC is a little high maybe if it had more cool prizes??

I wouldn't be interested in raffles with high ticket prices. The chances of winning are already 1/16 (if you use the simple blockhash method), so there is a big chance I would just lose over $250, which is a big no-go for me. I like small raffles, because the ticket prices are low as well.

I dont mind a bit of a gamble.

Maybe more than 16 tickets, keep the cost down but the prize value high (obviously decreasing the chance of winning per ticket)

Low unit value ticket opens it up to more likely participants, without ruling out the bigger hands

People can buy multiple tickets if they want a larger stake / better chance

I may be interested....Just throwing out a suggestion for Blazed...

How about 7 slots? (tickets)

0.5BTC to play.

Prize: 1 Casascius Gold?

Maybe the reward would be worth the splash to some members?

Thoughts?

How about multiple prizes with at least one prize for everyone who participates?

Would like to enter the larger raffles like this but the cost is just to much for me.

I think the best way would be to list one and see if enough people join.

Either way I will be watching and would love to see some of these larger raffles.

With 16 slots, possibly .45btc first winner gets a 1btc goldie and the next a silver.  Dont know if id play but that might get a couple more people?

Even though I don't participate in many auctions, the appeal to me is that I can either win nice prize or lose an amount that I'm willing to write off.

That said, I'm sure you could find some people willing to fill up a big raffle  ;)

It was a challenge to find people for my raffle. Even with a full prize list.

I guess it is just how you market it. I was also in a hurry...

Maybe you can consider lowering the price and compensate the value by adding more slots, allowing multiple selections.

0.5 BTC will be pretty high to start with.
Or you can try adding some other prizes for second and third place.
