Title: Litecoin network dying ?
Post by: s1gs3gv on May 31, 2016, 04:09:25 PM
Difficulty -16% next change.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty

Maybe KNC was mining LTC and their Titans got taken off line when they went into receivership ?

I wouldn't necessarily call it dying, but with such a high difficulty and relatively low earnings, I can see some borderline miners maybe dropping out for greener pastures. Rest assured that it will only drop so far, as a decreased difficulty will increase revenue for those that remain thus locking in the remaining hash-rate.

Looks like a farm shutting down. There's no other explanation to drop two weeks before LTC goes live on GDAX.

KNC Miner perhaps?

I think it's the effect of ETH and increase in price of bitcoin. Most of people are moving to eth from other alts. And I have also heard that there is no active dev team of litecoin.

Maybe miners moving their gear for cheaper power.  Don't jump to conclusions, it will level out soon.

It does indeed. It would not put it past those bastardos at KNC to have been front running LTC even before they shipped customer Titans. It would explain a lot about the last minute shipping, substandard machines etc.

Its been a while since you could mine LTC profitably with GPUs, as you can with ETH atm.

Currently though, the CNY guys favour litecoin over ethereum..that is until ethereum hits a cny exchange..  ;D

ETH is already on a number of CNY exchanges. That's the point the article is making: Even with ETH on at least four CNY exchanges it is still not as popular as Litecoin.

As far as CNY markets are concerned BTC and LTC are a double act. It's not suprising that ETH would come third.

Litecoin still has some value, its mistake was that it wanted to be to bitcoin what silver is to gold, not a bad idea at the time, but not ambitious enough.

I have some KNC Titans, turned them all off and built up my GPU rigs again. Eth is far more profitable than LTC at the moment. Maybe others did the same?

I can understand that if you sold your Titans and bought some GPUs but just turning them off doesn't make sense. Titans make money, so do GPUs. Why not mine LTC and ETH, especially as the profitability of mining LTC looks set to improve with a -17% difficulty change in 2 days ?

I think it's the miners moving to Ethereum.   It's price looks good and ripe for mining.  Be on the look out for Chinese miners getting on board.  But I wonder how long until Ethereum switches to Casper.

Also is there a site where we can see Ethereum's difficulty and mining pools?

All on the same day or two ? Unlikely.

Ethereum is scam all assholes promoting it should first learn what 90% ICO premined volume mean, and only then open their mouths!
and in the meantime they should read more about decentralization and why it is so important!

You DO NOT know the basic of SCAM you mine and you say miners are moving to ETH, get a brain man!
and whats worse you are Legendary user here? FFS

Yeah I agree.  Within a day or two...  Unlikely.

The greed in me wishes there were no plans to switch to Casper.  The miners were one of the core groups that manipulated BTC to moon IMHO.  And Ethereum pools are beginning to look like BTC of old:  https://etherchain.org/statistics/miners

Anyone have an idea who the people behind the big Ethereum mining pools are?

edit: you can see the same diff drop in december last year

Litecoin price is going up, maybe miners wants to drop the price to buy more before the bitcoin halving???

Yeah I"m still befuddled about that

again

1) knc had secret Titan farm they took down on receivership due to bankruptcy stuff....(they are evil they said they never had such a farm but still)

2) some farm has dumped out or in the process of all its 110 mh A2's and making room for the A4's at 400mh (more likely imho ....)

yeah ...I like the 20% drop in LTC difficulty and me making 340 bucks more a month after electric as a result (1000mh at 14c kwh and 4100 watts at 4.64 LTC now is:

using this free calculator on litecoinpool anyone can use don't have to be part of this LTC pool to use it

www.litecoinpool.org/calc (http://www.litecoinpool.org/calc)

30 days   387.75585938 LTC   1799.19 USD  Total        413.28 USD       Electric Cost         1385.91 USD Profit After Electric

But I mean really? this is getting downright silly the network GH is 1162 GH. I have for the past year used the figure of what the GH was for LTC when I started mining with
my 1st original Titan (Nov 8th 2014) at 1169gh....So it is 19 months later and I'm mining on a same/or smaller network rate for LTC ...I mean am I dreaming?

Add to the fact that BTC and LTC seem to be going up in price this could get way, way, interesting (in a happy but terrifying way) if say BTC was to hit 650 usd and LTC was
to say at a modest 0.008 ltc to btc rate that is $5.20 LTC..well sheesh my miners from 1st new one (Nov 8th 2014) and the 2 other used ones are ALL originally Nov 2014 units.

Anyway I watch this unfold...scratch my head in utter disbelief...and am a puddle of befuddlement....sheesh.....

hell drag the old GAW miner out or your old A2 scrypt miner..heck they may make bucks now again ..go figure

use that with the above calc.....(way scary...in a happy/terror type manner) (I mean they are KNC machines and 'evil' thus there has to be a catch!) :)
