I have been told that each of these currencies are mere clones of Ethereum... but there are others that say Lisk is far superior to Ethereum due to it's ease of use for hackers and developers.

Others say Rise is superior due to security implementations.
What are your opinions on this?

Good thread.  But shouldn't there be a certain criteria on how to label one platform as superior vs the other?  Like usability, reliability, GUI, etc.. etc.. in order to avoid another mudslinging thread.

Also I think it's safe to remove 'The DAO' in that list since it's a DAO running inside of Ethereum. 

BTC is superior because it's the only one longterm viable. All your hyped shitcoins are vapourware and will die off due to technical difficulties that can't be overcome.

I have a stake in all of them with the exception of RISE (scam in my opinion)

How do you get scammy ICO coins ?
You have to go to the bank and take out FIAT cash money $$$ then go buy them..
This combined with other points such as no regulations or laws like in the real stock market
make all these scammy ICO coins unfair and and far too risky for a sensible person.

What makes waves different from ethereum, lisk or rise?

ETH will die from an inflated blockchain later in any case. In case the POS does even work. Why do you think all the POS coins have lost so much in the past months? Because POS is working fine and is the future or what? Nope, POS is broken and ETH will be broken too.
Also it suffers from centralisation in more than one aspect.
The DAO will die off due to human error.
All this may take several months or even years to come to the surface in full bloom, but it will.

It actually looks an awful lot like a pyramid sheme. But none of my business, what you're doing with your $$$. 

Currently Ethereum is leading with 50% of the vote. Second is Waves, with 30% of the vote.

The last time I checked, Waves was just your typical, run of the mill clone coin.

Are you guys that are voting for waves just a bunch of fanboys or do you have some reasoning, facts and figures as to why you think Waves is in the same league as Ethereum?

Eth devs are smarter than that they have a solid testnet and the ability to delay POS as long as it takes to get it right.  Your comment is way off

Waves have a clear start after their wildly successful crowd-sale.

They also have huge development resources and can learn a lot from the Etherium adventure.

heh, i would have posted this video if i were trying to convince someone to not buy waves.

at a certain point (like we saw with DAO), an ICO can raise too much relative to its potential, which results in sub-ICO prices.  i think waves is gonna be close.  kind of hilarious that sasha said they will use ICO money to form a buywall at ICO price and below looooooool.

It's important to point out that the platforms are very different.

- Ethereum and Crypti/Lisk/Rise are Smart Contract platforms
- Waves is a coloured coins platform for asset trading (like NXT or Bitshares)
- DAO is an Ethereum asset.

I think only Ethereum and Lisk can be compared because they target the same market. Crypti, Lisk and Rise are based on the same platform, so they should be pretty similar. The difference seems to be mainly that Ethereum is based on PoW and the Crypti/Lisk/Rise family on DPOS.

Each one of these coins holds a bit of a different place in the market.  It won't be for several months or even a year down the road until we see if there is a place in the market for all of them or if only a couple remain.

 Each have their niche benefits and appeal to a wider or smaller market of people.  They have rolled out one after the other attempting to either fix or cover something that they feel the last hasn't done correctly or could have done better.

 As a result we now have these 4-5 platforms coming together all different, but all kind of the same.  Only time will tell IMO

In other words none of them are a currency.

Kind of important to "point out"  8)
